Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Tuc Watkins, and the rest of the cast of the upcoming Broadway production of Matt Crowley’s The Boys in the Band got together for a photo shoot and shot a featurette talking about the play’s significance and what it means today.

“The significance of The Boys in the Band cannot be underestimated. In 1968, Mart Crowley made theatrical history by giving voice to gay men onstage, in this uncompromising, blisteringly honest, and wickedly funny play,” said Ryan Murphy. “The play was groundbreaking in its exploration of how gay men treated each other and how they were made to feel about themselves. And while some attitudes have thankfully shifted, it’s important to be reminded of what we have overcome and how much further we still have to go.”
David Stone adds, “Everything has changed. And nothing has changed.”

Matt Crowley’s groundbreaking 1968 play”The Boys in the Band” will be revived for a limited Broadway engagement for it’s 50th Anniversary and will bedirected by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello. and starring five openly gay actors: Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Matt Bomer, and Tuc Watkins.
The cast will also include Tony nominee Robin De Jesús as Emory, Brian Hutchison as Alan, and Michael Benjamin Washington as Bernard. The role of Cowboy remains to be cast.
Not to spoil the 50 year old plot line but in The Boys in the Band, an affluent, thirty-year-old gay man named Michael has invited a number of his homosexual friends to his stylish New York City apartment for a birthday party honoring their gay Jewish friend, Harold. The group includes Donald; Michael’s present lover; Emory, a portrait of the effeminate gay stereotype; Hank, once married and the father of two children but now living with Larry; Bernard, a gay black man; and a male prostitute who is Emory’s birthday gift to Harold. Michael’s former college friend, Alan, who is married and hostile toward homosexuals, crashes this party. Alan soon recognizes the stereotypical Emory as a homosexual, is offended by his behavior, and punches him; however, Alan is later surprised to discover that the others also are gay, especially Hank, who Alan thinks is heterosexual. The action of the play culminates in a party game that Michael designs; each guest must telephone the one person he truly believes he has loved and confess his deepest feelings. Michael intends for this game to reveal Alan’s latent homosexuality, but Alan’s telephone call goes to his wife. The play ends with Harold characterizing Michael as a gay man consumed by self-loathing.
The production marks The Boys in the Band’s Broadway premiere. Originally scheduled to run for five performances at a small Off-Broadway venue, the play became an overnight sensation, and—after transferring to a bigger theatre—ran for over 1,000 performances. The show went on to have an acclaimed run in London and was adapted into a film by William Friedkin in 1970. But it never played on Broadway.
The TBITB is scheduled to play the Booth Theatre April 30–August 12, 2018.
The production is being produced by Ryan Murphy and veteran Broadway producer David Stone.

Some of you may know my deep, unwavering love of Chris Pine. The man is just..mmmm. It’s hard for me to disguise my affection for him whenever his name comes up because besides those piercing blue eyes his personality seems to be so endearing and cautiously inquisitive about the world. And in his latest interview in OUT Magazine, you’ll understand why this man fascinates me so much. Here’s more:
Pine reveals he sought out a role in HBO’s adaptation of Larry Kramer’s “The Normal Heart,” which is set to star Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer, but a deal didn’t work out because of scheduling. “I would have done that in a fucking heartbeat,” he says. “Right now I just want to play good roles, and if the role happens to be a gay man, that’s not of any import other than is it a good story? Does it say something that’s interesting?”
Of his “Star Trek” co-star Zachary Quinto, who came out in a 2011 New York magazine profile, Pine noted, “It was something that I knew about Zach from the moment I met him … It was something that we kind of tiptoed around and I just took it as a given, because that’s what he wanted.”
When Quinto did come out, Pine said he was “so happy for him, oh man. I thought it was rad. It was really, really cool. He did it on his own time, on his own schedule.”

FACT CHECK: Jane Lynch does make one mistake when she states that Federal workers no receive the same benefits as their heterosexual counterparts. This is not true. Gay Federal workers received limited benefits, and not the important ones like spousal health insurance, retirement plan inclusion etc. But they do receive inclusion in 3 minor Federal benefits.
Okay so yeah I have a bit of a thing for hipsters. Who am I kidding I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THEM OKAY?! I don’t know where it comes from exactly. Maybe it’s the ill-fitting glasses or the quirky and homely attire that they wear to convey style but I cannot look away. American Horror Story, StarTrek and Heroes star Zachary Quinto is the epitome of this. And it makes him incredibly sexy. Even those beautiful bushy eyebrows have so much personality that there’s probably websites built just to admire them (I won’t say who makes websites like them but I sure do spend a lot of time there.)
He’s fit and healthy. So what if he’s not at the gym 5 days a week? Those honey brown eyes are all you need to look at. They’re intense, alluring, with just a dash or intrigue and mystery to occupy (see what I did there) your daydreaming all day long.
And best of all, he’s proactive about the community. Quinto has been on the campaign trail for weeks now helping to see that President Obama is re-elected for a second term and always in hipster fashion. He uses social media like twitter to make sure we get out and vote with tweets like these:

See, Quinto uses his status to promote awareness and that is why I will always swoon for this hipster.
NOTE: This is a place to read and discuss ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ Season 2 – Ep1: Welcome To Briarcliff – THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD.
“American Horror Story: Asylum” Season 2 premiered last night in a kinetic one hour premiere that revolves around the going ons of Briarcliff Sanitarium ( loosely based on the real Waverly Hills Sanitarium in KY which at one time, one of the busiest TB hospitals in the world) located somewhere in New England which at one time was a tuberculosis hospital where dead people were transported through the Death Chute, and was later turned into a sanitarium (insane asylum) run by the Catholic Church. Now, it’s a decrepit old ruin that is one of the most haunted places in America.
So far AHS: Asylum seems to be following two plot lines.
.The 1964 piece concerns the insane asylum itself, along with its sadistic head nun Sister Jude (Jessica Lange), high-minded director Monsignor Howard (Joseph Fiennes), experimental physician Doctor Arden (James Cromwell), and their various plots and sadist treatments and experiments on the patients – some with real mental illnesses but some who have not. These include the accused murderer known as Bloody Face, aka Kit Walker (Evan Peters), nymphomaniac Shelly (Chloe Sevigny), the innocent and sane (?) Grace (Lizzy Brochere), and the hulking Spivey (Mark Conseulos). Complicating matters is the snooping lesbian reporter Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson), who wants nothing more than to get her hands on Bloody Face and really pick his brain; coincidentally, she’s not the only one. As part of Lana Winters storyline last night and perhaps as a bit of social commentary the 1964 storyline revisited the fear and horrors that many gay and lesbians faced in the 60’s when they could be mentally institutionalized for just being gay.
The second storyline set in the present concerns a couple of newlyweds, Leo (Adam Levine of Maroon 5 fame) and Theresa (Jenna Dewan), who have spent their honeymoon traveling to haunted locations and fucking their brains out in them. While exploring Briarcliff, the couple run into a bit of trouble when something rips Leo’s arm off and the The Asylum seemingly won’t let Theresa escape and herds her into the Death Chute.
Last nights episode was packed to the brim. Unauthorized medical experiments, ghosts, creatures in the woods, possible alien abduction, sadistic nuns, nymphomania, serial killers, blackmail, psychological torture and the list goes on.

The incredibly endearing socially conscious Zachary Quinto gave an interview for OUT magazine that discusses his life, his career, politics, and what he envisions for the future. The Heroes and Star Trek actor first expresses why he came out last year in such a nonchalant manner:
“I needed it to happen. Otherwise, I couldn’t move forward authentically. Ultimately, I think the only thing that really drives me in life, continually, is a pursuit of authenticity of experience — of myself.”
“One of the defining conversations that I had with myself was that absolutely no good can come from me staying quiet about [my sexuality],” he says. “Literally, no good can come from it. But if I take the step to make the acknowledgment and be honest, so much good could potentially come from it.”
Over the past few months, Quinto has been a strong suporter of President Obama and even using twitter to campaign for the upcoming elections in November. Quinto to say the least is dismayed by the public discrimation towards the president as well as the religious right’s view on LGBT rights:
“It boggles my mind that there are so many extreme, Christian organizations that are adopting a stance against homosexuality with such vitriol and hatred and targeted aggression that goes against the tenets of the Christian faith, The hatred that people are leading with in this discussion is really, for me, the biggest symptom of how sick we are. It’s the thing that makes me look at our culture and think, We are so far afield of any sort of connectivity or truth in relationship to one another. I don’t want this to be too soapboxy,”
Quinto also discusses his past in love, saying how it may have been because of his father’s death may have influenced how he dated in the past. And even though Quinto is very private about his personal life, he admitted his relationship with actor Jonathan Groff. Maybe the strong relationship is what has him talking about expanding his family in the future? Maybe:
“I found myself in a pattern of being attracted to people who were somehow unavailable, and what I realized was that I was protecting myself because I equated the idea of connection and love with trauma and death, I had to do a lot of work on the couch to really get to a place where I was able to show up to a relationship with someone who was actually capable of being in one — and that took a lot of trial and error. And I’m still working on all that stuff — that will never stop. But I definitely want kids… I want to share.”

Casting for Season 2 of FX’s “American Horror Story” has begun with Deadline.com is reporting that BOTH Jessica Lange and Zachary Quinto are signed and set to return in different roles.
Like Lange, [Quinto] will play a brand new character next season, which is set at an East Coast institution. What’s more, I have learned that Quinto will play one of two male leads and the nemesis to Lange’s character, which will be at the center of the Season 2 storyline. The part is sure to draw parallels to Quinto’s breakout role as uber-villain Syler on Heroes.
Aslo returning for Season 2 as different characters will be Evan Peters (Tate) , Sarah Paulson (Billie Dean Howard) and Lily Rabe (Nora Montgomery)
I LOVE the idea of a Seasonal Anthology with recurring ensemble players doing different roles each season. But AHS did use about every horror cliche during its first season and relied on its Hollywood location to set the tome. Can creator Ryan Murphy think outside the box enough and come up with an itriguing original story to keep viewers satisfied for Season 2?
We’ll see. But the real queation is will Zachie Quinto be playing gay AGAIN this season? (Or at least be naked.)
Rumours were flying this week about newly out actor Zachary Quinto dating gay actor Johnathan Groff best known for his role of Jesse St. James on GLEE and Spring Awakening on Broadway.
The National Enquirer claims that the two actors have been secretly dating since last year, but that they kept it under wraps because Zachary was hiding his sexual orientation to keep his Star Trek role.
Besides GLEE and Spring Awakening, J.G. also starred in the indie film Twelve Thirty last year with an extended nude scene and since screencaps have just hit the web so since its a sloooooow Sunday I just thought you might be interested.
Both Bret and I agree he’s a bit too much of a “twink” for our taste but obviously Zach Q likes them sweet and full of cream
