Qatar Officials Seize Rainbow Colored ‘Un-Islamic’ Toys Before World Cup

Qatari authorities have “confiscated a line of children’s toys” claiming that the they “go against Islamic values,” according the the Brit newspaper, The Guardian.

The one thing the all the toys had in common; they were RAINBOW colored.

The Qatari government trumpeted the seizure, with the “ministry of commerce and industry” taking to Twitter to slam the toys. The ministry included photos of some of the impounded merchandise, including “rubber stress balls and other toys in rainbow colors.

The government’s vague reasons did not spell out the fact that the confiscated property was colored in rainbow hues, but news outlets readily picked up on that fact.

In “a separate statement on the official QNA news agency,” the ministry encouraged the people of Qatar “to report any product bearing logos or designs contrary to our traditions,”

Qatar’s non-existent LGBT rights record has been under the spotlight ever since it was chosen as host of the 2022 World Cup in 2010.

Australia’s Josh Cavallo, the openly gay, active premiere league soccer player said he would be “scared” to play in Qatar.

Qatar as the second most dangerous place to travel for LGBT people,.

The Qatar government downplayed the country’s hostile laws, framing the issue as one of “modesty.”

Russian football “hooligans” are sending death threats to English fans heading to the World Cup next month.

They have threatened to stab and harm homosexual World Cup followers who make the trip to Russia to watch the team play, it has been revealed.

Due to the serious nature of the threats Pride In Football – an alliance of LGBT football fan groups – reported the threats to the police.

The group has received emails telling them that fans from the LGBT community will be rooted out and attacked during Russia 2018.

“We’ve had people say that if they find us they’ll stab us, so it’s been a mixture but they’re being dealt with seriously and those investigations are still ongoing,” said Joe White, Pride in Football’s campaign leader.

Last week the Football Supporters’ Federation – in collaboration with the Football Association, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office – issued a guide advising LGBT fans heading to the tournament not to publicly display their sexuality.

Openly gay LA Galaxy soccer  star Robbie Rogers blasted the FIFA for on Thursday for their decision to hold the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in the rabidly anti-gay countries of Russia and Qatar, while HRC and GLAAD have remained silent on the issue.

“I would never pressure anyone into speaking about the issue but it is absolutely insane,” he said. “If you look at the next few World Cups, they are in places where, if I were to go, I could possibly be imprisoned or beat up or stoned to death. It is pretty ridiculous.”

Roberts told NBC Sports that he was concerned about the safety of gay fans traveling to Russia and Qatar to watch the games, due to Russia’s bill banning “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations to minors,” and Qatar’s ban on gay sex.

“There is going to be number of gay fans that will go to watch the sport. Of course there is going to be another gay footballer there. So I think it is an issue that needs to be spoken about and discussed with FIFA because every player should feel safe when they go to a World Cup,” said Rogers.

Obviously organizations like FIFA & IOC care more about money than basic human rights. But what’s the Human Rights Campaigns and GLAAD’S excuse in not getting involved?

Lazy?  Ineffectual?  Worthless?
