Coming just shortly after the cancellation of TLC’s 18, 19, 20 and Counting over the Josh Duggar sexual abuse/incest scandal comes another slam for TLC with the show they used to replace the Duggars with which happens to be another “Christian” family with 10 children who belong to the same “Quiverfull” cult.
The patriarch of a family featured on the TLC reality television show “The Willis Family” was arrested Friday and charged with rape of a child stemming from an alleged sexual encounter around 12 years ago, authorities said. Toby Nathaniel Willis, 46, was arrested in Greenville, Kentucky, by agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the bureau said in a statement. The TBI said Willis traveled to Kentucky “in an effort to avoid law enforcement.”
The law enforcement agency said authorities began investigating Willis on Aug. 29, and agents “developed information Willis had a sexual encounter approximately 12 years ago with an underage female.” More details were not released. The TBI said the investigation remains ongoing. Willis is featured in the TLC show about a musical family in Nashville. The network apparently removed the show’s page from its website Saturday. TLC did not immediately return requests for comment.
Willis and his wife Brenda — like Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar — are Quiverfull parents, adherents to a Christian dominionist sect that encourages married couples to produce as many offspring as possible in order to raise an army of believers. The word “Quiverfull” comes from the Old Testament Psalms of the Christian Bible. Psalm 127 says, “Children are a blessing from the Lord…happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.”
The Duggar family has had problems of its own, with eldest son Josh confessing to molesting underage girls — including his sisters — as a teen. Then Josh was revealed to have cheated on his wife through the website Ashley Madison. When reached for comment about Willis’ arrest, a spokesperson for TLC said, “We are shocked to hear this news.”

A non-Duggar family molestation victim is preparing to file a civil suit against Josh Duggar, sources tell In Touch magazine exclusively in the new issue on newsstands today. The shocking development means that Josh and his parents Jim Bob and Michelle could be forced to give depositions and testify about Josh’s molestation scandal. The Duggars likely will have to answer every question as they will not be able to invoke their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination because the criminal statute of limitations has expired. The family is once again under investigation the Department of Human Services and the fate of their reality show 19 Kids and Counting is still undecided. The impending lawsuit sets up a nightmare scenario for TLC: if the network brings back 19 Kids and Counting, the show could be on the air while the Duggars are fighting a lawsuit that exposes all of Josh’s secrets surrounding the molestations and how the family covered it up.
Fortunately under Arkansas law, civil suits are allowed even when the statute of limitations runs out.
Maybe the money grubbing TLC (Touching Little Children Network) can continue to feature the family in “19 Lawsuits and Counting.”
Dan Savage appeared on MSNBC Friday Night to discuss the unfolding drama and hypocrisy surrounding reality TV’s Duggar clan in the wake of allegations that Josh Duggar sexually abused five underage girls.
“Particularly when religious conservatives want to talk about it, they want to point a finger at non-family. They want to point a finger at people that they define as the enemies of families or not from or having families of their own – LGBT people, particularly trans people increasingly with these anti-trans bathroom bills. And that is what the Duggars have dug in on is attacking trans people and opposing this LGBT civil rights bill in Fayetteville where they were out there arguing that the threat to little girls in Fayetteville were transwomen when they knew, when they were covering for someone who had demonstrated, at least at that age, was a threat to little girls himself.
Also lets remember that Discovery/TLC had to know as early as 2006, because that’s when the family went on the Oprah Winfrey Show to promote their TLC show, and Oprah’s staff alerted law enforcement after a tipster alerted them. A full investigation was done, but charges weren’t filed because it was after the statute of limitations.
TLC has remained stubbornly silent about the Josh Duggar sexual molestation scandal and even now has not acknowledge the oldest Duggar son’s scandal. lBut according to TMZ it has pulled the Duggar family show “19 and Counting” from its schedule. For now.
“Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ, the fate of the show is uncertain, but there’s now so much heat in the wake of Josh Duggar’s molestation confession … the network had to make the decision,” TMZ reports. “We’re told they absolutely have not made a long-term decision, but it’s clearly a bad sign for the show.”
TMZ is also reporting that General Mills has “blacklisted” the show.
So how much more disgustingly can this situation become? Well there are some in Teabagastan who are actually trying to defend Duggar and his family.
1) The Duggars are Christian. The Duggars are conservative. The Duggars don’t believe in gay marriage. Someone in the Duggar family did something terrible.
These are all facts. None of these facts conflict. None of these facts disprove any of the other facts. From the way liberals always react in these situations, you’d think that a Christian committing a sin somehow delegitimizes the faith itself, but that’s not quite accurate.
They would indeed be correct in their assessment if the central tenet of the Christian faith was that all believers in Christ are without sin or blemish. But far from that being a doctrine of the religion, it is actually the precise opposite of what Christians believe. None of us — not the Duggars, not anyone — claim that a faith in Jesus bestows perfect holiness on the faithful. It is because of our sinful nature that we need Him. When we sin, we do not disprove that thesis; we underscore it.
A Christian failing to live up to his faith does not make him a hypocrite. It makes him cowardly, perhaps. It makes him selfish. It makes him flawed. It makes him sinful. It makes him any number of things, but not necessarily a hypocrite. A hypocrite is an insincere person who misrepresents his own beliefs. But saying that you believe something is wrong, only to turn around and do it, doesn’t prove that you never held that belief. It just proves that you were too weak to stand by it.
I’m not diminishing Josh Duggar’s infractions. As I said, he did something very bad. Horrendous. Disturbing. Evil. These were major sins. But Christians commit major sins sometimes, which is the whole reason why Jesus died on the cross.
That doesn’t negate or condone anything, but it shows that Christianity does not hide from the sinfulness of man. A Christian understands the depravity of human nature, so when a brother or sister does something depraved, our faith is not shaken.
2) Speaking of hypocrites, I’m going to be very frank with you: I simply don’t believe most progressives actually care that Josh Duggar touched his sisters when he was 14. I don’t believe they are upset about it, or that it offends them, or that they are morally troubled by it. I don’t believe them. I just don’t.
I think they’re the real hypocrites.
After all, Lena Dunham admitted to inappropriately touching her sister, and she told the story in a jovial way, as if it were an amusing anecdote. Unlike Josh — who repented long ago, and when it was made public owned up to it and apologized again — Lena responded by telling her critics in the right wing conspiracy to “back the f**k up, bros.” While Duggar called his own behavior inexcusable, Dunham described the people upset about her behavior as “disgusting old men.”
Yet Dunham remains a liberal hero.
Just like Bill Clinton, who was credibly accused of rape multiple times. And Harvey Milk, a gay rights icon who got his very own Hollywood biopic, and a creep who regularly sodomized teenage boys. Progressive culture is filled to the brim with rapists, molesters, and deviants, but they never seem worried about any of it until some well known Christian crosses the line.
It’s always interesting to watch progressives discover sexual morality just in time to denounce a right winger, only to shed the pretense as soon as the next liberal pervert comes out of the woodwork.
hey are moral opportunists. They are the actual hypocrites. This outrage is a charade. A circus. A show. A political ploy.
It always is.
3) I know I’m opening myself up to serious criticism here, but let me be honest with you: If my own son, God forbid, came to me and admitted to doing what Josh Duggar did, I don’t know that I’d immediately run to the cops.
Would you? Is it really that simple? The decision to have your child arrested as a sex offender would be an automatic thing for you? Really?
I guess I’m just a horrible person then.
I don’t know all of the details. Nobody outside of the family does or ever will. But it appears that Josh’s parents attempted to address the situation within their family before going to the church, and then eventually to a law enforcement officer. Again, there might be parts of this story that would change my analysis, but right now, based on what we know, it seems that they handled this the right way. Or at least, I can’t say for sure that I would have known any better way to go about it.
As a parent, you have to think whether your 14 year old son deserves to have his life ruined over his mistakes. Maybe you’d decide that he does. I can’t say I’d agree.
Either way, there’s no good answer. No simple answer. No happy answer. Something really, really bad has happened, and now you have to figure out the next step.
It’s not easy to know the next step, but it is certainly easy for the rest of us to stand off at a distance, 12 years later, and declare that they took the wrong one.
4) I’m confused about when past sins are relevant and when they aren’t. Today, I’m told Josh Duggar’s actions from 12 years ago ought to be enough to, as Montel Williams declared, forever brand him a “slimebag” and a “danger to kids.” But I can recall recent cases, like Mike Brown’s, where past crimes were completely irrelevant, even though the past crime happened, like, three minutes before he assaulted Officer Darren Wilson.
I’m having trouble following the logic.
5) Not that it matters, but I don’t say any of this as a fan of “19 Kids and Counting.” I respect the fact that it’s wholesome entertainment, but if not for my wife demanding we watch it every Tuesday, I doubt I’d ever tune in.
That said, I admire the family. They are living by their convictions, in defiance of cultural trends, and clearly bestowing a strong faith in all of their children. That faith hasn’t, as we established, made any of them perfect saints, but it seems genuine.
This is the oh so very moral right standing up for an admitted sexual molester who fondled his own sisters.
Exactly how much of a pathetic sleazebag is Matt Walsh for trying to spin this into “progressives are the real problem.”
The REAL problem is Josh Duggar sexually molested his younger sisters while they were sleeping.
The REAL problem is Jim Bob. Duggar LIED about enrolling Josh in a “Christian program” for treatment.

Walsh glosses over the fact that “they sent Josh to do physical labor for 3 months.” Yes, but they LIED and said he was enrolling in a Christian program. They LIED and said that Josh was receiving counseling.
And they have ADMITTED to these lies.

Turns out that Josh Duggar the vice president of the Family Research Council and FRC Action and who is also one of the offspring of TLC’s television show”19 & Counting” about a religious sect family who can’t stop popping them out was involved in a child molestation case in 2005. Duggar was 17 years old at the time.
Josh Duggar of the TLC hit reality show 19 Kids and Counting was named in a police report as the “alleged offender” in an underage sexual abuse probe, In Touch magazine is reporting exclusively. The charge being pursued while Josh was a minor was sexual assault in the fourth degree, multiple sources who have seen the police report and are familiar with the case told In Touch. According to the report, Josh was brought into the Arkansas State Police by his father, Jim Bob, who said he caught him leaving a young girl’s bedroom and “learned something inappropriate happened,” one source said. A bizarre turn of events prevented police and prosecutors from finishing their investigation and possibly prosecuting. The state trooper who originally took the report about Josh shortly before 2005 never followed up. That state trooper was later convicted on child pornography charges and is serving a 56-year prison sentence.

Steve, the man in the video below was a gay Mormon man who belonged to the Evergreen International “gay conversion” program that TLC’s “My Husbands Not Gay” subject Preston “Pret” Dahlgren is the former chairman of . After Evergreen shut down last year, Dahlgren joined North Star International – yet another such group – as a board member.
Jeff Bennion, another of the men profiled in “Not Gay,” is a spokesman for North Star.
None of this is mentioned in the TLC show. Which is a clear attempt to deceive the viewers.
Steve states that at least 1/3 of the people who were in his group have since committed suicide.

Now TLC (otherwise known as The Lactating Channel) will be airing a“Special” in January about fours self-loathing Mormon closet cases called “My Husband’s Not Gay” who don’t identify themselves as homosexual despite having strong attractions to men.
The show focuses on three married couples: Jeff and Tanya, Pret and Megan, and Curtis and Tera. Joining the cast is 35-year-old Tom, the bachelor of the group who enjoys fishing and baseball and served as a missionary in Long Beach.
All cast members are devout Mormons belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The special will follow the cast as they navigate life while explaining to outsiders their unique marriages.
“I get a little defensive when somebody calls my husband gay,” one wife says.

Getting his wife and children out of their SUV’s back seats at the Capitol Building in Washington, Duggar says, “We’re so grateful for this time of the year and from out family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!”
“Come on, let’s go, guys!” he says to his brood as they set off walking towards the Capitol, a not-so-subtle message, according to some, that Duggar has political aspirations.
