Today in “But It’s Not A Cult” – Conservative Pro-Trump “Christian Family” Commits Mass Suicide

A Pennsylvania family of were devout Trump Christian conservatives, were found shot dead in their backyard last week in what police say appears to be a suicide pact.

Via The New York Post:

Morgan Daub, 26, and her parents, James Daub, 62, and Deborah Daub, 59, were found dead on the ground in the backyard of their home in York County, Pennsylvania, on the morning of Jan. 25, after police responded to a request for a welfare check from a neighbor.  Police discovered the trio’s bodies at their York home the morning of Jan. 25 while responding to a welfare check. A neighbor told police he heard three shots ring off in quick succession just before midnight. The family left several written documents detailing their journey dating back at least nine months, cops said. According to papers written by Deborah, she and Morgan had originally planned to kill themselves together and leave James behind. In an April 2022 note, she writes that Morgan chose their execution date based on a bible verse in which two parents give their child back to God.

Bret Stabley, who operates the pro shop at Bowlers Supply in York, Pennsylvania, said the Christian, churchgoing family “was never shy about letting anybody know what their beliefs were” when it came to religion and politics. Morgan and Deborah “very, very huge” supporters of former President Donald Trump, Stabley said.

“They were just so hell-bent on Trump winning, like this could be in the end if he doesn’t,”

Gay GOP Utah State Official Blames High Gay Suicide Rate On Promiscuity

A gay quisling Utah Republican official is experiencing a backlash after saying that  the high rate of suicide in the LGBT community is linked to having a high number of sex partners.

Via the Huffington Post:

Dave Robinson, who is the Salt Lake County Republican Party’s new communication director, said in a Monday meeting with the Salt Lake Tribune’s editorial board that he knows people in the LGBTQ community who have had “over 2,000 sex partners” ― a number that he believes could be reflective of the “self-loathing” that drives people to commit suicide.

“You talk to some of these people that have had grundles of sex partners, and the self-loathing and basically the unhappiness and the self-hatred level is tremendously high,” he said, the Salt Lake Tribune reported. “The gay community really needs to start having some conversations within their community, saying how is our lifestyle affecting our mental health?”

Robinson also said the gay community “went to the county health department and said, ‘Look, if you love the gays, then you need to give us and all of our people this medication [PrEP] for free.’ And so the county’s like, ‘Yes, we love the gays,’ so they start giving them all this medicine.” Then, he said, members of the gay community began having unprotected sex like “bunny rabbits” at monthly “sex parties” because they were unaware that the pill did not prevent STDs.

Well now. Someone sounds awfully bitter about being unfuckable.

Directors of ‘Chicago’ Under Fire After B'way Veteran Kills Himself After Brutal Bullying

Directors of ‘Chicago’ Under Fire After B’way Veteran Kills Himself After Brutal Bullying

The directors of the musical “Chicago” on Broadway Walter Bobbie and Leslie Stifelman, are under investigation following the suicide of veteran actor Jeff Loeffelholz, on June 29th following a brutal rehearsal stating in notes that Bobbie and Stifelman had bullied and humiliated him in front of the rest of the cast in order to compel him to leave the show and avoid the Producers/NAMCO’s contractual obligation to ‘buy out’ his contract.

Loeffelholz, was a longtime standby for the role of Mary Sunshine,

Fellow Broadway actors and friends have launched a “Justice for Jeffrey” campaign.

According to the campaign:

According to Loeffelholz’s own handwritten notes after the rehearsal, he went upstairs where he greeted the dance captain with a hug and the usual pleasantries and when asked how he was, he replied he was great but he was “ready to rehearse.”

At that point Hyslop said he received a text from Bobbie saying he hadn’t slept all night and was running late. By now it was 1:15 and much of the cast had started to arrive. Bobbie finally arrived at 1:20 and after small talk with Stifelman and Hyslop he said to Loeffelholz, “I want to hear you sing,” adding that Loeffelholz was “never on” and he wanted to know why. Loeffelholz hadn’t performed the role since the last week of February.

Loeffelholz sang Mary Sunshine’s signature song, “A Little Bit of Good.” Silence from Bobbie until he said, “Again.” Loeffelholz sang it again. Bobbie then told Loeffelholz he should quit “overperforming it and being draggy” (i.e., like a drag queen), because “it is not a drag role. You need to be believable,” according to Loeffelholz’s notes.

Loeffelholz sang it again at which time Bobbie told him he couldn’t hear his lower register and he asked Loeffelholz for “more volume! I don’t believe what you’re telling me!”

Bobbie then said he was very disappointed and upset and stormed into the theater’s lobby at which point Stifelman took over the rehearsal instructing Loeffelholz to start in the middle of the song, adding “You always do it wrong.”

Loeffelholz sang it again. Bobbie entered the theater again and Stifelman repeated to him that Loeffelholz always does this part of the song incorrectly and could they do it again, according to Loeffelholz’s notes.

Loeffelholz sang it again after which Stifelman told him he was singing the wrong notes and that it was impossible for her to follow him when he performs the role.

Loeffelholz sang “A Little Bit of Good” for the sixth time. Stifelman alleged that Loeffelholz was “oversinging it and talking too much,” according to Loeffelholz’s own handwritten notes. Stifelman had Loeffelholz sing the middle part and told him he was singing the wrong lyrics. Loeffelholz’s notes simply state, “I was not.”

Stifelman then asked Bobbie if he wanted Loeffelholz to sing it again. Bobbie said no, adding, “We’ve wasted enough time.” Bobbie then said to bring in the rest of the cast and Loeffelholz approached him. “I walked up to Walter and he just stared at me,” his notes read. “I stared back and wanted him to say something.”

“I appreciate your loyalty,” Bobbie finally said to Loeffelholz, according to his notes. “But I am an actor too, and you have to respect the production.

Full post here.

Producers Fran and Barry Weissler held an emergency cast meeting on Friday night, according to the New York Post, to address the outrage following Loeffelholz’s suicide.

The Weisslers have hired attorney Judd Burstein, to investigate the alleged bullying incident.

“My obligation here is to find the truth about what happened without regard to the consequences which flow from my finding.” said Burstein.

Anthony Bourdain Commits Suicide: Dead at 61

Famous chef and storyteller Anthony Bourdain, who took television viewers around the world, has died. He was 61.

CNN confirmed Bourdain’s death on Friday and said the cause of death was suicide.
“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” the network said in a statement Friday morning. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”
Bourdain was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning CNN series. His close friend Eric Ripert, the French chef, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room Friday morning.
In 2013, Peabody Award judges honored Bourdain and “Parts Unknown” for “expanding our palates and horizons in equal measure.”
“He’s irreverent, honest, curious, never condescending, never obsequious,” the judges said. “People open up to him and, in doing so, often reveal more about their hometowns or homelands than a traditional reporter could hope to document.”
The Smithsonian once called him “the original rock star” of the culinary world, “the Elvis of bad boy chefs.”
Bourdain was a strong believer in LGBT civil rights and an outspoken ally.
Prominent Gay Rights Lawyer Sets Himself On Fire In Protest In Brooklyn's Prospect Park

Prominent Gay Rights Lawyer Sets Himself On Fire In Protest In Brooklyn’s Prospect Park

David Buckel, 60, a prominent LGBT rights lawyer with Lambda Legal died after setting himself on fire in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park on Saturday.  Buckel sent messages to multiple news outlets, including The New York Times, explaining his intention to set himself on fire to protest the world’s usage of fossil fuels at the expense of the environment.

“Pollution ravages our planet, oozing inhabitability via air, soil, water and weather,” Buckel wrote the Times in an email. “Most humans on the planet now breathe air made unhealthy by fossil fuels, and many die early deaths as a result — my early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves.”

“A life of privilege requires actions to balance the harm caused, and the greater the privilege, the greater the responsibility,” Buckel added.

“For if one does not leave behind a world better for having lived in it, all that remains are selfish ends, sometimes wrapped in family or nation.”

Buckel’s suicide echoed dramatic protests by self-immolation from past years overseas. Buddhist monks burned themselves to death to protest a repressive regime in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

In more recent years, Tibetans have done the same to protest Chinese rule over Tibet. Buckel cited the Tibetan self-immolations in his note, the Daily News reported: “This is not new, as many have chosen to give a life based on the view that no other action can most meaningfully address the harm they see.”

Buckel was the lead attorney in Brandon v. County of Richardson arguing on behalf of Brandon Teena, a murdered transgender man whom Buckel argued successfully that a country sheriff failed to protect.

Lambda Legal issued the following statement on its website.

“The news of David’s death is heartbreaking. This is a tremendous loss for our Lambda Legal family, but also for the entire movement for social justice,” the group said in a statement.

“David was an indefatigable attorney and advocate, and also a dedicated and loving friend to so many. He will be remembered for his kindness, devotion, and vision for justice.”

Dan Savage On Suicide Of Trans Teen Leelah Alcorn: Her Parents Should Be Prosecuted For Murder

Dan Savage Leah

Meanwhile, last night hundreds of people gathered for a candlelight vigil for Leelah in Ohio.

CNN got a brief quote from Leelah’s mother who still refuses to recognize Leelah’s gender as female.

When Josh Alcorn voiced a desire to live as a girl, the Ohio teenager’s parents said they wouldn’t stand for that. “We don’t support that, religiously,” Alcorn’s mother told CNN Wednesday, her voice breaking. “But we told him that we loved him unconditionally. We loved him no matter what. I loved my son. People need to know that I loved him. He was a good kid, a good boy.” Crossing out the name “Josh,” the 17-year-old signed the name “Leelah” in a suicide note posted to Tumblr. The note was programmed to publish after Alcorn’s death Sunday. The teenager was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 71 around 2:15 a.m., about four miles from home in the tiny town of Kings Mills, northeast of Cincinnati. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the death as a suicide.

Leelah Alcorn’s tortured yet eloquent Tumblr account has been deleted. It is unknown if this was done by the request of her family.

Transgender Teacher Commits Suicide After Journalist Pens Column Denouncing and Mocking Her

FIRE Richard Littlejohn

Lucy Meadows was a teacher. Lucy Meadows was an excellent and caring teacher.

Born male, Lucy transitioned to female later in life, a process that was supported by her employers and her friends.

But hack “journalist” Richard Littlejohn of Britain’s Daily Mail—one of Britain’s largest-circulation newspapers didn’t care.  All he cared about was circulation, sensationalism and spewing his hateful prejudice.  So Littlejohn publicly denounced Lucy in one of his columns in terms usually reserved for criminals, and child abusers.

Not long afterward,  LucyMeadows killed herself.

The Daily Mail took the article down upon Meadows’ death, but here it is at archive.org, and here’s an excerpt.

“What are you staring at, Johnny? Move along, nothing to see here. Get on with your spelling test. Today’s word is ‘transitioning’.

Mr Upton/Miss Meadows may well be comfortable with his/her decision to seek a sex-change and return to work as if nothing has happened. The school might be extremely proud of its ‘commitment to equality and diversity’.

But has anyone stopped for a moment to think of the devastating effect all this is having on those who really matter? Children as young as seven aren’t equipped to compute this kind of information. …

It should be protecting pupils from some of the more, er, challenging realities of adult life, not forcing them down their throats.

These are primary school children, for heaven’s sake. Most them still believe in Father Christmas. Let them enjoy their childhood. They will lose their innocence soon enough. … Nathan Upton is entitled to his gender reassignment surgery, but he isn’t entitled to project his personal problems on to impressionable young children.”

An online petition has been started demanding that Littlejohn be fired or resign. SIGN IT.

The petition says: “No one deserves to have their lives turned upside down for their gender identity being thrown into the national spotlight.

Its time we band together and stop those like Littlejohn who think nothing of the consequences of their hateful words that ruin, destroy and in some cases kill.

STAND UP FOR LUCY.

Richard Littlejohn is a greater threat to children by far.

Dan Savage: “Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council sits on a pile of dead gay kids”

The outspoken Dan Savage went all out and balls to the wall over the Family Research Council‘s Tony Perkins and former GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann in a recent speech at Winona State University saying that “every dead gay kid is a victory for the Family Research Council” and that Perkins “sits on a pile of dead gay kids every day when he goes to work — and he calls himself a Christian.”

“Tony Perkins tells parents whose kids come out to reject them,” Savage says in the clip. “Tony Perkins tells the parents of queer kids to do what Tony Perkins damn well knows drives those kids to suicide — doubles their already quadruple risk of suicide.”

And when it comes to Michele Bachmann, “We will always have ignorant dicks like Michele Bachmann and her fag husband

While I don’t really approve of the slur in a “live public  forum”I whole-heartedly agree 100 percent with its sentiment on Marcus Bachmann

Dan Savage is an out-spoken individual and plain speaking.  He always has been and always will be.  He doesn’t comb over pre-prepared statements removing anything that might offend anyone and making it so politically correct that the power of his message his lost.    He speaks from his gut and gets in your face.  he always has and he always will.  We all think the things that he says but he has the nerve to say it aloud.

Dharun Ravi Finally Apologizes For His Part In Tyler Clemnti’s Suicide – Sincere or Con?

Dharun Ravi sat through, pre-trial, trial and sentencing for his part in Tyler Clementi’s suicide showing no remorse and never saying he was sorry.

Now almost a year later, after being given the equivalent of a slap on the wrist for his actions,  Ravi apologized for his actions in the case surrounding Tyler Clementi’s suicide, in  a statement released by his lawyers.

“Last Monday, I was sentenced to 3 years probation, 300 hours of community  service, a fine of more than $10,000.00, and 30 days in jail. Since the  Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office appealed that sentence, the sentence does  not have to start until the appeal is decided. Nevertheless, I decided to accept  and hopefully complete the sentence as soon as possible. It’s the only way I can  go on with my life.

I accept responsibility for and regret my  thoughtless, insensitive, immature, stupid and childish choices that I made on  September 19, 2010 and September 21, 2010. My behavior and actions, which at no  time were motivated by hate, bigotry, prejudice or desire to hurt, humiliate or  embarrass anyone, were nonetheless the wrong choices and decisions. I apologize  to everyone affected by those choices. I am surrendering myself to the Middlesex  County Correctional Facility on Thursday, May 31, 2012, to start my 30-day  period of imprisonment.”

Regardless of Ravi’s “accepting responsibility” Ravi’s lawyers have said they expect to appeal the convictions entirely. They  say that he was not hateful and that authorities charged him with such serious  crimes because of Clementi’s suicide even though he was not charged with the  18-year-old’s death

Is this just a lawyerly boilerplate, paid for by his parents and probably signed  with a certain amount of resigned reluctance, to help his appeal?  The one major point the judge slammed home time and time again was Ravi’s lack of remorse during his sentencing.  Is this just a “con” to help with the appeal and nothing more?

On it’s own  “A day late and a dollar short” doesn’t even begin to describe his lawyers “press release”.

Trickle Down Hate: Father Of Bullied Teen Who Commited Suicide Ends His Own Life

55-year-old Roger Crouch become a strong advocate against anti-gay bullying after his 15-year-old son, Dominic, tragically ended his life last year after jumped from a building near his school in Gloucestershire, UK, and last November 3 was given the Hero of the Year award by the UK’s Stonewall organization.

Less than a month later after leaving  a final farewell message to friends and family on Facebook that read “Au Revoir, so long – or maybe A Bientot”“,  Roger Crouch still grief stricken over the senseles loss of his son committed suicide by hanging.

Roger’s wife in a statement she read to the court at her husbands inquest stated that Roger had continued to suffer mood swings and bouts of depression over Dominic’s death.

“There was a lot of death in his life,” she said.

Recording his verdict at Gloucester Coroner’s Court, assistant coroner David Dooley said: “Clearly he was very taken up with campaigning for his son and others he felt may have been subjected to bullying.

“But he was eventually overwhelmed by grief for his son. On the evidence I feel I can be sure of his settled intent to take his own life,” Mr Dooley added

On hearing evidence from psychiatrists that her husband had been “overcome by grief”, Mrs Crouch added: “I think it’s what you might call in an old fashioned way, a broken heart.”
