LJUBLJANA, March 25, 2012 (AFP) – Slovenians voted Sunday against granting gay couples rights similar to those of married heterosexuals, in a referendum forced by conservative groups and the Catholic Church.

With 98 percent of ballots counted, the results showed that 55.1 percent of voters rejected a proposed new family code while 44.9 percent backed it, the electoral commission of the eurozone member announced.

Yet again, we see the machinations of the Roman Catholic Church sticking it’s pedophilia-hiding nose in where it doesn’t belong.
