GOP Rep. Jim Jordan Gets Retired Coach To Pressure Wrestlers To Recant Sex Abuse Knowledge Claims

Seems that male sex abuse enabler and Family Values/Tea Party GOP Rep. Jim (Gym) Jordan has been getting people to put pressure on the former Ohio State wrestlers who accused Jordan of knowing and not doing anything about the sexual abuse that they suffered at the hands of the athletic departments in-house doctor when Jordan was a coach there.

NBC News reports:

Retired Ohio State wrestling coach Russ Hellickson reached out to two ex-team members and asked them to support their former assistant coach, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, a day after they accused the powerful congressman of turning a blind eye to alleged sexual abuse by the team doctor, according to the wrestlers and text messages they shared with NBC News.

The former wrestlers said their ex-coach made it clear to them he was under pressure from Jordan to get statements of support from members of the team.

Hellickson’s appeal to help Jordan came after the congressman repeatedly said that he had no idea that team doctor Richard Strauss was allegedly molesting the athletes — contradicting three wrestlers who told NBC News that Jordan must have known since the abuse was frequently discussed in the locker room.

“Pope Benedict XVI’s personal preacher is likening accusations against the pope and the church in the sex abuse scandal to ‘collective violence’ suffered by the Jews. The Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa said in a Good Friday sermon, with the pope listening to him in St. Peter’s Basilica, that a Jewish friend has said the accusations remind him of the ‘more shameful aspects of anti-Semitism.’ The remarks came in a prayer service at the Vatican a few hours before Benedict XVI was scheduled to take part in a Colosseum Way of the Cross procession commemorating Christ’s suffering before his crucifixtion.”

How ANYONE Gay or Straight could still belong to the Catholic Church is beyond me.

Homo Say What? – The Catholic Leauges Bill Donohue Continues To Lie And Blame Gays For Catholic Church Sex Abuse Scandals And CNN Enables Him To Do So. (Video)

CNN sensing a bit of the sensational allowed crackpot liar Bill Donohue of the Catholic Leauge to discuss the ad he took out in the NYT claiming that the Catholic clergy sexual abuse problem is a homosexual problem.

For those of you who don’t know Donohue  he is the, president of the conservative Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.  Donohue uses his appearances primarily to attack gays and progressives. He has referred to the “gay death style,” remarked, “God forbid we’d run out of little gay kids,” claimed that Senator John Kerry “never found an abortion he couldn’t justify,” and claimed that “Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular … Hollywood likes anal sex.”  It’s nice to see that CNN looks for credibility and sanity when it gives people airtime. 

Said Donohue on CNN:

“As I said in the ad, which I wrote, most gay priests are not molesters, but most of the molesters have been gay. And I also said, that there’s no such thing as a — that homosexuality does not cause predatory behavior. Let me give you a quick example. I’m Irish. Everybody who has half a brain knows that the Irish have a bigger problem with alcoholism than the Italians or the Chinese, for example. Does that mean because you’re an Irishman, therefore, you are driven to become an alcoholic? Of course, not. What it means, though, if your group is overrepresented in a particular problem area, you ought to explore it. Yes, there’s a connection between Irish and alcoholism, and, yes, there’s a connection between homosexuality and sexual abuse of minors.”

Yesterday GLAAD issued a statement that urged the media to ignore Donohue’s anti-gay attacks. (And of course GLAAD did not have the balls to CONDEMN by name the media outlets that have.) saying:

“It’s telling that when media start taking a closer look at the recent revelations in the abuse crisis, Donohue instantly tries to change the subject by blaming the media and casting gay people as sexual predators. But Americans are getting sick of this ugly, vicious scapegoating. Donohue is feeding a hostile climate that gay people continue to face in this country. It’s wrong, it’s unacceptable, and no credible media outlet should be providing a platform for these kinds of attacks.”
