On a fall evening two years ago, donors gathered during a conference at a Ritz-Carlton hotel near Washington to raise funds for a 31-year-old candidate for the Ohio legislature who was a rising star in evangelical politics.
Hours later, upstairs in a hotel guest room, an 18-year-old college student who had come to the event with his parents said the candidate unzipped his pants and fondled him in the middle of the night. The frightened teenager fled the room and told his mother and stepfather, who demanded action from the head of the organization hosting the conference.
“If we endorse these types of individuals, then it would seem our whole weekend together was nothing more than a charade,” the stepfather wrote to Tony Perkins, president of the Council for National Policy.
“Trust me . . . this will not be ignored nor swept aside,” replied Perkins, who also heads the Family Research Council, a prominent evangelical activist group. “It will be dealt with swiftly, but with prudence.”
And guess who that “31-year-old candidate for the Ohio legislature who was a rising star in evangelical politics”?
Thats right! Wes GoodHEAD Goodman the Ohio GOP State Rep who consistently touted his faith and conservative values, and resigned late Tuesday after being confronted with evidence of him having hot and tawdy gay sex in hie Statehouse office last Tuesday.
From the letter posted below from Perkins to Goodman it appears that they entered some kind of ex-gay therapy agreement and that Perkins had told Goodman not to run for office until his problem had been dealt with.
Caleb Andrew Bailey, a Maryland delegate selected by Donald Trump’s presidential campaign for the Republican National Convention was indicted on Wednesday on federal weapons and child pornography charges.
Caleb Andrew Bailey, 30, of Waldorf, Maryland, illegally mailed a cache of ammunition and explosives through the US Postal Service and illegally possessed a machine gun and child pornography. The indictment also further alleges that Bailey “attempted to use and did use a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce child pornography.”
Joe Cluster, the executive director for the Maryland Republican Party, confirmed to Mother Jones that Bailey was approved by the Trump campaign as a delegate to the GOP convention from Maryland’s 5th Congressional District. Bailey could not immediately be reached for comment.
Bailey who’s father is the former vice chair of the Maryland GOP faces a sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
Josh and Anna Duggar have welcomed their fourth child, a baby girl named Meredith Grace Duggar. Josh Duggar broke the news of the birth with a photo posted on Instagram, saying: “Announcing the arrival of Meredith Grace Duggar — 7lbs 14 ozs, 20-1/2in — Anna and Meredith are resting & doing well!” The “19 Kids & Counting” stars are already parents to Mackynzie, 5, Michael, 4, and Marcus, 2. It’s been an emotional year for the Duggars. Their show was pulled from the TLC schedule after Josh Duggar responded to allegations of molestation that happened years ago starting when he was 14 years old. He’s 27 now.
Unemployed people bringing a child into the world? Whatever happened to personal responsibility?
*ABC’s copy is written terribly. If a person didn’t already know the situation it would be easy to mistake Josh as the victim instead of the perpetrator. Josh Duggar was the molester and NOT the molested and it started at 14 and continued for at least 3 years that are know by victims coming forward.
In Steve Reinboldt’s 1970 high school yearbook, wrestling coach Dennis Hastert wrote that Steve was his “great, right hand man” as the student equipment manager of the Yorkville, Illinois wrestling team. But Steve was also a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Hastert, Steve’s sister said today in an interview with ABC News. It is the first time an alleged Hastert victim has been identified by name since his indictment for lying to the FBI and violating federal banking laws to cover-up past misconduct. Hastert, due in court next week, has not responded to the allegations. In an emotional interview, Steve Reinboldt’s sister Jolene said she first learned of her late brother’s purported years-long sexual abuse at the hands of the future Speaker of the House back in 1979 when her older brother revealed to her that he was gay and had been out of high school for eight years. “I asked him, when was your first same sex experience. He looked at me and said, ‘It was with Dennis Hastert,’” Jolene said. “I was stunned.
Steve Reinboldt passed away from AIDS in 1995.
Sadly, justice will never happen, which is a true tragedy.
“The shocking, unethical leak of a private, legally protected counseling document by a politically motivated law enforcement official. Media – time to go after her or him for illegalities and for destroying the public’s trust in law enforcement. The media’s hell-bent mission to go after the entire Duggar family for one member’s wrongdoing, while giving a total pass to perverted actions of someone like Lena Dunham – or any other leftwinger celeb caught doing awful things. Remember reports of the pedophile billionaire our former democrat president has been friends with and hung out with on the pedophiles ‘orgy island’ full of underage girls? Such obvious double standards applied to equally relevant stories underestimates the wisdom of the public, discredit the press, and spits on the graves of every American who fought and died for the press’s freedom. I hate for anyone to go through this game liberals are allowed to play, relentlessly attacking on an uneven playing field until a conservative’s career, relationships, and reputation are destroyed.” – Michelle Duggar’s mentor in “mothering” Sarah Palin on her Facebook page
Would anyone like some whine and vinegar with my word salad?
TLC has remained stubbornly silent about the Josh Duggar sexual molestation scandal and even now has not acknowledge the oldest Duggar son’s scandal. lBut according to TMZ it has pulled the Duggar family show “19 and Counting” from its schedule. For now.
“Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ, the fate of the show is uncertain, but there’s now so much heat in the wake of Josh Duggar’s molestation confession … the network had to make the decision,” TMZ reports. “We’re told they absolutely have not made a long-term decision, but it’s clearly a bad sign for the show.”
TMZ is also reporting that General Mills has “blacklisted” the show.
So how much more disgustingly can this situation become? Well there are some in Teabagastan who are actually trying to defend Duggar and his family.
1) The Duggars are Christian. The Duggars are conservative. The Duggars don’t believe in gay marriage. Someone in the Duggar family did something terrible.
These are all facts. None of these facts conflict. None of these facts disprove any of the other facts. From the way liberals always react in these situations, you’d think that a Christian committing a sin somehow delegitimizes the faith itself, but that’s not quite accurate.
They would indeed be correct in their assessment if the central tenet of the Christian faith was that all believers in Christ are without sin or blemish. But far from that being a doctrine of the religion, it is actually the precise opposite of what Christians believe. None of us — not the Duggars, not anyone — claim that a faith in Jesus bestows perfect holiness on the faithful. It is because of our sinful nature that we need Him. When we sin, we do not disprove that thesis; we underscore it.
A Christian failing to live up to his faith does not make him a hypocrite. It makes him cowardly, perhaps. It makes him selfish. It makes him flawed. It makes him sinful. It makes him any number of things, but not necessarily a hypocrite. A hypocrite is an insincere person who misrepresents his own beliefs. But saying that you believe something is wrong, only to turn around and do it, doesn’t prove that you never held that belief. It just proves that you were too weak to stand by it.
I’m not diminishing Josh Duggar’s infractions. As I said, he did something very bad. Horrendous. Disturbing. Evil. These were major sins. But Christians commit major sins sometimes, which is the whole reason why Jesus died on the cross.
That doesn’t negate or condone anything, but it shows that Christianity does not hide from the sinfulness of man. A Christian understands the depravity of human nature, so when a brother or sister does something depraved, our faith is not shaken.
2) Speaking of hypocrites, I’m going to be very frank with you: I simply don’t believe most progressives actually care that Josh Duggar touched his sisters when he was 14. I don’t believe they are upset about it, or that it offends them, or that they are morally troubled by it. I don’t believe them. I just don’t.
I think they’re the real hypocrites.
After all, Lena Dunham admitted to inappropriately touching her sister, and she told the story in a jovial way, as if it were an amusing anecdote. Unlike Josh — who repented long ago, and when it was made public owned up to it and apologized again — Lena responded by telling her critics in the right wing conspiracy to “back the f**k up, bros.” While Duggar called his own behavior inexcusable, Dunham described the people upset about her behavior as “disgusting old men.”
Yet Dunham remains a liberal hero.
Just like Bill Clinton, who was credibly accused of rape multiple times. And Harvey Milk, a gay rights icon who got his very own Hollywood biopic, and a creep who regularly sodomized teenage boys. Progressive culture is filled to the brim with rapists, molesters, and deviants, but they never seem worried about any of it until some well known Christian crosses the line.
It’s always interesting to watch progressives discover sexual morality just in time to denounce a right winger, only to shed the pretense as soon as the next liberal pervert comes out of the woodwork.
hey are moral opportunists. They are the actual hypocrites. This outrage is a charade. A circus. A show. A political ploy.
It always is.
3) I know I’m opening myself up to serious criticism here, but let me be honest with you: If my own son, God forbid, came to me and admitted to doing what Josh Duggar did, I don’t know that I’d immediately run to the cops.
Would you? Is it really that simple? The decision to have your child arrested as a sex offender would be an automatic thing for you? Really?
I guess I’m just a horrible person then.
I don’t know all of the details. Nobody outside of the family does or ever will. But it appears that Josh’s parents attempted to address the situation within their family before going to the church, and then eventually to a law enforcement officer. Again, there might be parts of this story that would change my analysis, but right now, based on what we know, it seems that they handled this the right way. Or at least, I can’t say for sure that I would have known any better way to go about it.
As a parent, you have to think whether your 14 year old son deserves to have his life ruined over his mistakes. Maybe you’d decide that he does. I can’t say I’d agree.
Either way, there’s no good answer. No simple answer. No happy answer. Something really, really bad has happened, and now you have to figure out the next step.
It’s not easy to know the next step, but it is certainly easy for the rest of us to stand off at a distance, 12 years later, and declare that they took the wrong one.
4) I’m confused about when past sins are relevant and when they aren’t. Today, I’m told Josh Duggar’s actions from 12 years ago ought to be enough to, as Montel Williams declared, forever brand him a “slimebag” and a “danger to kids.” But I can recall recent cases, like Mike Brown’s, where past crimes were completely irrelevant, even though the past crime happened, like, three minutes before he assaulted Officer Darren Wilson.
I’m having trouble following the logic.
5) Not that it matters, but I don’t say any of this as a fan of “19 Kids and Counting.” I respect the fact that it’s wholesome entertainment, but if not for my wife demanding we watch it every Tuesday, I doubt I’d ever tune in.
That said, I admire the family. They are living by their convictions, in defiance of cultural trends, and clearly bestowing a strong faith in all of their children. That faith hasn’t, as we established, made any of them perfect saints, but it seems genuine.
This is the oh so very moral right standing up for an admitted sexual molester who fondled his own sisters.
Exactly how much of a pathetic sleazebag is Matt Walsh for trying to spin this into “progressives are the real problem.”
The REAL problem is Josh Duggar sexually molested his younger sisters while they were sleeping.
The REAL problem is Jim Bob. Duggar LIED about enrolling Josh in a “Christian program” for treatment.
The REAL problem is Jim Bob and Michele Duggar LIED about Josh receiving counseling.
TheyREAL problem is they lied and pretended to get their son help, rather than actually doing it.
Walsh glosses over the fact that “they sent Josh to do physical labor for 3 months.” Yes, but they LIED and said he was enrolling in a Christian program. They LIED and said that Josh was receiving counseling.
And they have ADMITTED to these lies.
They didn’t help their son, they lied about helping him.
That right-wing “journalist” like Matt Walsh would perversely twist this situation to try to defend Josh Duggar and his family. THAT is the REAL problem. Not the progressives.
Josh Duggar has resigned from the amti-gay Family Research Council in light of his child molestation charges going public.
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, (He was 16.) I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God’s grace, mercy and redemption.” – Josh Duggar, announcing his resignation from the Family Research Council in a statement to People Magazine.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of TLC’s “19 and Counting”, have also issued a statement:
“Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives, When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before. Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God. We pray that as people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles everyday. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so undeserving. We hope somehow the story of our journey – the good times and the difficult times – cause you to see the kindness of God and learn that He can bring you through anything.”
Rent-boys Rekers, David Dukes KKK mailing list and now Sister Diddler Duggar. The FRC sure knows how to pick them.
Josh Duggar, one of the members of the family that stars in TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” … was the subject of a police investigation for allegedly sexually molesting 5 girls, some of whom are his sisters. The story was broken by In Touch Weekly, but TMZ has confirmed with law enforcement that Josh Duggar — who was around 14 at the time — was the alleged molester against 5 girls starting in 2002.
According to the police report, Josh fondled the genitals and breasts of the girls, some of whom were sleeping, but sometimes they were interacting with him … in one case reading a book. There was another reported incident 9 months later. According to the police report, the police were not immediately contacted. Instead, Jim Bob, the dad, met with church elders and agreed Josh should be put in a treatment program. The police report says Josh’s mom, Michelle, said it wasn’t really a treatment center … they simply sent Josh to a guy who was remodeling a building to do manual labor.
In 2006, the family was scheduled to appear on “Oprah,” and before the show someone sent an email to Harpo warning that Josh had molested girls. Harpo forwarded the email to a hotline, which triggered a police investigation. Cops wanted to question Josh, but Jim Bob lawyered him up and Josh declined the invitation.
The New York Daily News reports that not only did Josh Dugg “allegedly” sexually assault several young women, but his father also waited more than a year before contacting law enforcement. A 2006 Springdale, Ark., police report shows that Josh had been investigated for several offenses against five female minors, including “forcible fondling,” with some of the offenses investigated as felonies.
Josh Duggar. Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council and TLC have all remained silent since the story broke.
After a final BUST by Politico today about embattled closet-case and GOP party-boy Rep. Aaron Sch(c)ock billed the federal government and his campaign for logging roughly 170,000 miles on his personal car between January 2010 and July 2014. But when he sold that Chevrolet Tahoe in July 2014, it had only roughly 80,000 miles on the odometer, according to public records obtained by POLITICO under Illinois open records laws. Sch(c)ock resigned today because according to him that all these questions about his luxurious jet-setting lifestyle and luggage lifter and personal photographer Jonothan with an “o” have proven to be too much of a distraction to him to properly serve his constituents,
Illinois Rep. Aaron Schock is resigning his seat in Congress. The 33-year-old Republican has been dogged by questions about his spending of taxpayer and campaign dollars. On Monday afternoon, POLITICO posed a lengthy set of questions about charging the government and his campaign tens of thousands of dollars in questionable mileage reimbursements.
“Today, I am announcing my resignation as a Member of the United States House of Representatives effective March 31,” Schock said in a statement. “I do this with a heavy heart. Serving the people of the 18th District is the highest and greatest honor I have had in my life. I thank them for their faith in electing me and letting me represent their interests in Washington. I have given them my all over the last six years. I have traveled to all corners of the District to meet with the people I’ve been fortunate to be able to call my friends and neighbors.”
One of the most anti-gay members of Congress Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) has a lot on his plate what with hating gays, hanging out with Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and being “family values” and all. But now Huelskamp has something else to worry about as one of his staffers has been busted on 17 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
A staffer for a Kansas congressman is in jail charged with 17 counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Matthew P. Pennell was arrested on Thursday. Pennell was arrested following an investigation by the Dodge City Police Department and members of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The case has been filed with the Ford County Attorney’s office. His bond is set at $75,000. Congressman Tim Huelskamp Office issued this response to the allegations: “Upon learning of his arrest, the Office immediately placed Mr. Pennell on Leave Without Pay until further notice. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide further comment at this time.” – Mark Kelly, Chief of Staff, Office of Congressman Tim Huelskamp.
Huelskamp has been recognized as one of the top 5 most anti-gay politicians in Washington, D.C.
