WOOF! When Did Ricky Martin Become So Damn HOT?!

rick

So earlier today I was reading and decided to do a write up in something relating to LGBT in entertainment and came across Ricky Martin and his comments about Puerto Rico and their unwillingness to advance same sex marriage (more on that in a bit) but what really stumped me was how incredibly hot Ricky Martin has become. Granted, the man has always been attractive with those doe eyes and chiseled jaw. And when his first wave came about at the turn of the century La Vida Loca was being played constantly on radio. Incessantly on TV. And even annoyingly at prom.

But as time has gone on, we learned of the personal battles that surrounded the latin pop star because of his sexuality. And through that we saw him come to terms with it and finally believe in himself enough to come out which was remarkable to see him so happy with his family. He has also become an activist with recently discussing the issues surrounding same sex marriage in Puerto Rico. Here’s more:

Ricky-Martin-ricky-martin-43962_600_1114Ricky Martin has something to say when it comes to gay rights in Puerto Rico.

The Puerto Rican singer and TV personality is calling on the Government of Puerto Rico to do justice, and extend rights for the LGBT community, by approving new sets of projects in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The same rights for each and every citizen of Puerto Rico, that’s what we are asking for, and that’s what we hope to achieve, the country of justice and peace we want. Puerto Rico has to join all the countries of the world that are at the forefront in human rights and equality,” said Martin in a press release published in his website.

The star is specifically asking the island’s government to support the projects of the Senate 238, and House of Representatives 488 and 437. The initiatives seek to promote equality and prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in any governmental, public or private workplace.

They would also amend the 54 Law of domestic violence in order to include provisions that apply to same-sex couples, and eliminate any provision of gender as a barrier to adoption.

But also the man has evolved from being very pretty to smokin HOT. And I seriously did not notice that this had happened until today. Maybe it’s because over the years news outlets used photos from his earlier career but when I stumbled on the more recent ones, my mouth watered and mind went to darker, sexy places. Where have I been to miss all this.

Gone are the 90s extremely tight leather pants to be replaced with smooth and subtle wear to accentuate all the right spots. The squeaky clean chiseled face is now lush with trimmed and maintained fur. The man is just…damn,

Ricky+Martin

He’s added some bulk but not too much with decorative tribal tattoos that can make the average hipster look like a tool but not this man. He makes them look like they have meaning. He has this look of satisfaction that’s confidence not cockiness (even if it was cockiness, we’d let him get away with it because look at those doe eyes)

Is he asking us for a ride? Because I mean if he is then…

Tony Award Nominations From The Bizarro World – Rickman, Peters, Lansbury All Snubbed!

Welcome to BIZZARO WORLD Broadway!

Because thats where obviously the 2012 Tony Award nominations took place from this year because only in an alternate universe would they and could they snub Broadway legend Angela Lansbury and her chance to win a record-breaking sixth Tony Award for her role as a Southern political doyenne in Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, which Angela received critical acclaim.

Now one must wonder who was so much better than Lansbury to knock the grand dame of the theatre out of the running? Well none other than Condola Rashad (daughter of Cosby mom Phylicia) for the very, very short-lived Stick Fly.

But that’s not all! The snubs kept on coming this morning when the Tony noms were announced and also NOT nominated was the revival of Godspell led by Weeds star Hunter Parrish (and now Corbin Bleu), the Alan Rickman-topped comedy Seminar, and The Mountaintop, last fall’s high-profile drama starring Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett and also alas *gasp* Bernadette Peters (Follies)!

But the biggest surprise snub of this years Tony’s? (Get ready to clutch those pearls boys)

Ricky Martin and Elena Roger in the Broadway revival of Evita.

Nothing, Zip, Nada!

Oh the gay theatrical humanity of it all!

As for who was nominated….

Oh really who am I kidding.  After seeing the list of those who were snubbed does anyone really care who was nominated?

Oh the theatrical travesty of it all.

Ricky Martin Speaks Out Over Puerto Rico Trying To Remove LGBT Protections From Hate Crime Laws

Last month the Puerto Rico senate approved a provision that would eliminate sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ethnicity and religious beliefs from the hate crimes statute that was included in the penal code that lawmakers approved in 2004.

Yesterday singer Ricky Martin spoke out against the removal.

 Hispanically Speaking reports:

“I’m very sad about the turn the discussion on Criminal Law is taking in Puerto Rico that proposes the elimination of aggravating factors in cases where crimes are committed out of prejudice toward the victim,” the openly gay star said on his Web site.

Martin said that while great nations focus on providing their citizens with basic rights, some politicians in Puerto Rico are doing just the opposite, “promoting inequality and hate.”

“They ought to do their homework and review a little the Universal Declaration of Human Rights…which says that everyone – the citizens – are equal before the law and have, without distinction, the right to equal protection under the law,” he said.

Nearly two dozen LGBT Puerto Ricans have been murdered on the island since late 2009 in what is nothing short of an epidemic of anti-LGBT violence. Those murdered include gay teenager Jorge Steven López Mercado, who was stabbed to death before his decapitated, dismembered and partially burned body was dumped alongside a remote roadside near Cayey in Nov. 2009 and three LGBT Puerto Ricans-Alejandro Torres Torres, Karlota Gómez Sánchez and Ramón “Moncho” Salgado-were found dead within a 72-hour period in June.

LGBT and Dominican activists plan to protest the proposed amendments in San Juan this week.

Ricky Martin Makes Deal With Anti-Gay TARGET Months Before GLAAD Gives Him An Award

Ricky Martin who came out loud and proud earlier this year may be “out” but his pride is certainly questionable.

Its been discovered that Martin has made merchandising deals with the anti-gay TARGET Corporation which started on January 21 in conjunction with his album Música + Alma + Sexo, and both reportedly performed last week at a corporate event for Target managers in Minneapolis and Martin also appeared and performed at a TARGET event in NYC.

Guess who did not perform at the Target managers meeting at Target Center Tuesday? Lady Gaga. Not that anyone expected her after her falling out with Target over the company’s donations to political action committees that she didn’t approve of. She had a deal with Target to carry an exclusive version of her upcoming “Born This Way” album but she pulled out.

Other stars who do have deals with Target did perform for several thousand store managers on Tuesday.

Our spies report that Ricky Martin and Jennifer Hudson have rocked the day-long meeting thus far

Ricky Martin repeatedly denied being gay until he decided to promote his autobiography and needed an angle to get the press interested in his has-been ass as in the 2001 quote – “If I were gay, why not admit it?… I am a normal man. I love women and sex. I am a real hot-blooded Puerto Rican, but I have never been attracted by sex with a man.”

So Martin is now bringing a new meaning to the phrase “gay for pay”

And that about GLAAD?

Martin signed his deal with TARGET a good 2 months BEFORE awarding him the Vito Russo Award for his work as a role model at its latest Media Award Starfucker Jamboree.  This is just one of the many many examples on just how useless GLAAD has become.

Could there possibly be a more useless and embarrassing gay organization than GLAAD?

Oh, yes, there’s the Human Rights Campaign

And as for Ricky Martin we know all know that you are “Livin La Vida Hypocrite”

Angelo Garcia, Ricky Martins Ex – Menudo Bandmate Also "Comes Out"!

Angelo Garcia, once the youngest-ever member of Menudo and a bandmate of Ricky Martin’s, has come out as gay in the pages of TV Notas (Junio 8, 2010). In the piece, he says he’s never been closeted: “I’m very honest about who I am, but I don’t like labels…people need to understand that someone’s sexuality doesn’t make the person. I’m more than that, a son, brother a musician…”

WOOF!

Whats "Too Gay" Today? – Zachary Quinto (Of course), Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman Kiss, Torchwood Comic, Rue McClanahan, Ed Westwick, and HOT Fantasy Couple Ricky Martin and Cheyenne Jackson

*  This is kinda a “Ewwww” thing but a funny “Ewwww” thing.  Last nights Lakers-Celtics game when the “kiss-cam” pointed at them Dustin Hoffman took the opportunity to lean over and swap spit with actor Jason Bateman. Love  the fact that Jason Bateman is going at it with the full open mouth.  I’ve wanted to kiss Jason Bateman for a long time myself. And our greatest living actor gets to do the deed. Life IS NOT fair.

*  Extremely HOT and (allegedly) CLOSETED Zachary Quinto will star in a revival of Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Angels in America” Off-Broardway. Quinto will portray the sarcastic (and openly gay) Louis Ironson.  Lets see if this will blow the closet doors off Quinto’s walk-in.  (Sorry Zachie I do think you are extremely cute but you need to come out already.)

*  There’s a Torchwwod Comic book coming our gay geek way soon!  Acclaimed artist Tommy Lee Edwards, currently working with Jonathan Ross, has teamed up with Barrowman and his sister to produce the comic – tentatively titled Captain Jack and the Selkie. This will be one of two original Torchwood stories in issue one, out in August. It sees Barrowman/Capt. Jack facing a deadly threat on a remote Scottish island, where people are disappearing one by one. To his horror, the captain starts to suspect he may know who, or rather what, is responsible.

*  Rue McClanahan gets remembered online with a memorial Facebook page.  Rest peacefully Blanche we’ll miss you!

*  While Chance Crawford is cooling his heels in Plano Tx his boyfriend co-star Ed Westwick says he doesn’t have a girlfriend.  (DUH!)

*  Want to sww about a HOT fantasy couple.  How about Ricky Martin and Cheyene Jackson!  Forget the Jackson-Jackmans and the Reynolds-Coopers. The Jackson-Martins have supplanted them as my new fantasy gay power couple. The snarl wins it, Cheyenne. And um Ricky, where exactly is your hand under the table?

Today Is The International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia. (UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé, Ricky Martin, and the Great Global Kiss In)

*UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé
Today is the day to tell that co-worker the fag jokes aren’t funny. Today is the day to hold hands with your partner at your favorite restaurant. Today is the day to see whether your child goes to a school with a gay-straight alliance. Today is the day to call your senator on your lunch break. Today is the day to find out how to volunteer with an AIDS group, PFLAG, or Gay Activist Organization.

Listen, you don’t have to be like Mariela Castro, daughter of Cuba’s President Raul Castro and march through the streets of Havana (But it would be nice,)  You just need to have a conversation or DO SOMETHING and not just today, but EVERYDAY.

Ricky Martin Comes Out Of The Closet! – "I Am Proud To Say That I Am A Fortunate Homosexual Man".

In a statement released his blog, Ricky Martin today announced that he is gay.

For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that’s the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It’s my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don’t ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I’m at right now. An amazing emotional place of comprehension, reflection and enlightenment. At this moment I’m feeling the same freedom I usually feel only on stage, without a doubt, I need to share.

Many people told me: “Ricky it’s not important”, “it’s not worth it”, “all the years you’ve worked and everything you’ve built will collapse”, “many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature”. Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.

If someone asked me today, “Ricky, what are you afraid of?” I would answer “the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war…child slavery, terrorism…the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith.” But fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, It fills me with strength and courage. This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.

These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn’t even know existed.

What will happen from now on? It doesn’t matter. I can only focus on what’s happening to me in this moment. The word “happiness” takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.

I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am

The fact that Ricky has publically come out is big, eout is big, even if we (the gay “community”) suspected that we knew it all along and that it coincedentially just happens to be at the same time his auto-biography is coming out. Martin was and still is a huge latin po-star and just think about all those gay boys in the Spanish speaking world, particularly Central and South America, that now have someone to have a role model that went through the same things they are going through growing up gay in such a homophobic culture.

Y ahora….A VIVIR LA VIDA LOCA!!!
