Ohio GOP Introduces HB 616, It's Version of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" Law

Ohio GOP Introduces HB 616, It’s Version of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” Law

HB 616, an Ohio bill introduced Monday afternoon duplicates Florida’s Don’t Say Gay law and states that no public school, community school or private school that accepts vouchers shall “teach, use, or provide any curriculum or instructional materials on sexual orientation or gender identity” in kindergarten through third grade. Older students could discuss these issues, but “any curriculum or instructional materials on sexual orientation or gender identity” would have to be “age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Republican reps. Jean Schmidt, R-Loveland, and Mike Loychik, R-Cortland, sponsored HB 616 and introduced it to the Ohio senate.

Currently NO school in the United States uses any curriculum or instructional materials on sexual orientation or gender identity

The legislation would also ban other divisive concepts like the 1619 Project, critical race theory, intersectional theory, inherited racial guilt, diversity, equity, and inclusion learning outcomes and “any other concept that the state board of education defines as divisive or inherently racist.”

Democratic Rep. Brigid Kelly called that “a huge problem.”

“We’re not giving people access to the tools, the materials, the lessons they need to prepare children for the diverse world that exists,” Kelly said.

The two largest lobbying groups for Ohio’s educators, the Ohio Education Association and the Ohio Federation of Teachers, oppose the legislation.

Donald Trump Bans ‘Anti-American’ Diversity Training in Federal Agencies

Donald Trump has ordered federal agencies to stop racial sensitivity training, labeling it “divisive, anti-American propaganda”.

In a memo sent to all government agencies Trump said it has come to his attention that millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money have funded such “trainings”.adding that these sessions only foster resentment in the workforce.

Friday’s two-page document from Donald Trump via the Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought stated:

All agencies are directed to begin to identify all contracts or other agency spending related to any training on ‘critical race theory,’ ‘white privilege,’ or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”

The memo also falsely states that “according to press reports, employees across the Executive Branch have been required to attend training where they are told that ‘virtually all White people contribute to racism’ or where they are required to say that they ‘benefit from racism’.”

Trump Loving Asian Miss Michigan Stripped Of Title For Being A Racist

Via The Hill:

Miss Michigan 2019 winner Kathy Zhu was stripped of her title on Thursday for “offensive, insensitive and inappropriate” social media posts, she said Thursday.

Zhu, 20, tweeted Thursday what appeared to be a screenshot of an email she received from Miss World America officials, who told her she was dismissed from being a pageant participant.

“Miss World America’s State/National/Chief Director accused me of being racist, Islamaphobic, and insensitive,” Zhu tweeted. “They stripped me of my Miss Michigan title due to my refusal to try on a hijab in 2018, my tweet about black on black gun violence, and ‘insensitive’ statistical tweets.”

The first racist incident happened in 2018, in which Zhu went up to a Muslim Student Association booth celebrating World Hijab Day.

She then tweeted:

“There is a ‘try a hijab on’ booth at my college campus.
So you’re telling me that it’s now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam?

The second occurrence is a reply to another Twitter user in which Zhu says:

“Did you know the majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks? Fix problems within your own community before blaming others.”

I wonder if it would it be insensitive to tell her if she doesn’t like it she can go back where she came from ?

National Memorial for Peace and Justice Opens In Alabama Dedicated To Victims of White Supremacy

National Memorial for Peace and Justice Opens In Alabama Dedicated To Victims of White Supremacy

The National Memorial for Peace and Justice opened this week on the site of a former slave pen in Montgomery, Alabama, where black people were once imprisoned before being sold at auction..The Museum is dedicated to the victims of American white supremacy. And it demands a reckoning with one of the nation’s least recognized atrocities: the lynching of thousands of black people in a decades-long campaign of racist terror.

Via The New York Times

At the center is a grim cloister, a walkway with 800 weathered steel columns, all hanging from a roof. Etched on each column is the name of an American county and the people who were lynched there, most listed by name, many simply as “unknown.” The columns meet you first at eye level, like the headstones that lynching victims were rarely given. But as you walk, the floor steadily descends; by the end, the columns are all dangling above, leaving you in the position of the callous spectators in old photographs of public lynchings.

The magnitude of the killing is harrowing, all the more so when paired with the circumstances of individual lynchings, some described in brief summaries along the walk: Parks Banks, lynched in Mississippi in 1922 for carrying a photograph of a white woman; Caleb Gadly, hanged in Kentucky in 1894 for “walking behind the wife of his white employer”; Mary Turner, who after denouncing her husband’s lynching by a rampaging white mob, was hung upside down, burned and then sliced open so that her unborn child fell to the ground.

The Tuskegee Institute records the lynching of 3,436 blacks between 1882 and 1950. This is probably a small percentage of these murders, which were seldom reported, and led to the creation of the NAACP in 1909, an organization dedicated to passing federal anti-lynching laws.

GetEQUAL Shuts Down! – Group Becomes Victim of It’s Own Social Justice Agenda

GetEQUAL’s newly appointed Executive Director Gabriel Garcia-Vera announced today that the group will be shutting down immediately following a scandal surrounding the termination of a former staffer, Campaign Manager Aaryn Lang who accused the board of racism and transphobia.

“I have learned so much over the last few months, but one thing I have always known is that the movement and the world need fewer people in power who are ready to abuse it for their insecure whims,” Lang wrote on Facebook. “We all deserve better from the people and places that have aligned themselves with justice.”

Lang demanded GetEQUAL make donations to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, Trans Sistas of Color Collective, Black Queer and Intersectional Columbus and No Justice No Pride which the GE has worked closely with in the past.

Garcia-Vera denied the allegations of discrimination but also put some blame on the groups closing on finances, even though they supposedly just came off a successful donor drive. “Our financial assets are barely sufficient to cover our operations for more than a few weeks. Our board of directors has collapsed. Raising new revenue and rebuilding the board would be a tremendous challenge even if we weren’t in the middle of a social media storm,” Garcia-Vera wrote in an open letter to the community. “But even more importantly, I fear that our capacity to advance our mission has been undermined.”

GetEQUAL was founded in 2010 by Robin McGehee, who was co-director of the National Equality March that took place in Washington, D.C..

GetEQUAL original mission statement was to secure complete Federal civil rights for the LGBT community and staged a series of protests against “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” which included Lt. Dan Choi and other service members handcuffing themselves to the White House fence.

Next Heather Cronk picked up the gauntlet as leader of the group following the civil rights message but it was not until Angela Peoples joined and started to take over that GetEQUAL changed its message to a QPOC (Queer People of Color), Trans Rights group.  And it protests changed from handcuffing themselves to the White House gates to protesting Pride Parades thus cutting out their base donors.

The irony of a GetEQUAL a being accused of racism and transphobia after years of accusing the gay and lesbian community of racism and transphobia is not lost on many in the community who have questioned their tactics and behavior after People’s took charge.

Trump Rushes Out Of MLK Ceremony After Reporters Shout “Are You A Racist?” – Video

Via CNN:

Moments after he signed a proclamation for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President Trump got up from the table, shook and few hands and made his way to the exit.

Reporters, meanwhile, shouted questions about his “shithole countries” comment yesterday. (This is the first time we’ve seen him publicly since those remarks.)

Journalist April Ryan asked if he would apologize. He didn’t answer. Then she pressed again, “Mr. President, are you a racist?”

L’Oreal Drops QPOC Trans Spokesperson After Facebook Post Calling “All White People” Racist

L’Oreal Paris has dropped London-based  QPOC transgender model, and activist Munroe Bergdorf from a campaign after a Facebook post she wrote saying that “ALL white people” are racist.

Said Bergdorf in the post (since deleted), which was published in full by the Daily Mail:

“Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people.

“Because most of ya’ll don’t even realise or refuse to acknowledge that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of colour. Your entire existence is drenched in racism. From micro-aggressions to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this s***.

“Come see me when you realise that racism isn’t learned, it’s inherited and consciously or unconsciously passed down through privilege.

“Once white people begin to admit that their race is the most violent and oppressive force of nature on Earth… then we can talk.

“Until then stay acting shocked about how the world continues to stay f***** at the hands of your ancestors and your heads that remain buried in the sand with hands over your ears.”

L’Oreal released the following  statement : “L’Oréal supports diversity and tolerance towards all people irrespective of their race, background, gender and religion. We believe that the recent comments by L’Oréal Paris UK Spokesperson Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with those values, and as such we have taken the decision to end the partnership with her.”

After being fired Bergdorf took to Facebook to “clarify” her stance, saying that her words, which were “a direct response to the violence of white supremacists in Charlottesville,” were taken out of context. “Identifying that the success of the British Empire has been at the expense of the people of color, is not something that should offend ANYONE. It is a fact. It happened. Slavery and colonialism, at the hands of white supremacy, played a huge part in shaping the United Kingdom and much of the west, into the super power that it is today,” she wrote. “When I stated that “all white people are racist”, I was addressing that fact that western society as a whole, is a SYSTEM rooted in white supremacy – designed to benefit, prioritize and protect white people before anyone of any other race. Unknowingly, white people are SOCIALISED to be racist from birth onwards. It is not something genetic. No one is born racist.”

Tennessee Theater Cancels “Gone With The Wind” Showing Because It’s “Insensitive”

Memphis Tennessee’s Orpheum Theater has cancelled the movie  “Gone With the Wind”  from it’s summer movie series, because it is “insensitive” to the black community the theater’s board said on Friday.

The Orpheum Theatre Group decided not to include the 1939 movie about a plantation in the Civil War-era South in its 2018 Summer Movie Series after feedback from patrons following the last screening Aug. 11.

“As an organization whose stated mission is to ‘entertain, educate and enlighten the communities it serves’, the Orpheum cannot show a film that is insensitive to a large segment of its local population,” the theater’s operators said in a statement. (Memphis’ population is about 64 percent African-American.)

Orpheum’s Facebook page event for the August screening has users become a battleground with some posters saying the film is “racist.” Another notable comment has somebody saying “slowly but surely, we will rid this community of all tributes to white supremacy.”  Others meanwhile are deeply disappointed that the movie group has dropped GWTW. “I thought this was a joke! Shame on you for canceling “GWTW.” You just insulted every single actor and crew member on this film. You insulted SAG and every institution that has fought for this film to be exhibited since its release in 1939. How pathetic!”

Gone With the Wind is raked at #6 on the American Film Institute’s 100 GREATEST AMERICAN FILMS OF ALL TIME

An interesting point to all this is that Hattie McDaniel was the first black American to win an Oscar with her co-staring role as Mammy in Gone With The Wind. McDaniel the daughter of former slaves rose to the epitome of the elite acting profession and was justly rewarded for her role in the classic film.

I guess her achievement is also gone with the wind.

MMA MADNESS: Floyd Mayweather Calls Conor McGregor a “Faggot”at London Presser (VIDEO)

The press tour for the upcoming MMA fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has been a big deal for many into that sport but it has also taken a turn into the ugly with claims of racism and homophobia between the two athletes.

Accusations of racism dogging McGregor after the UFC champion repeatedly referred to his opponent as “boy,”  and during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s Guillermo Rodriguez. He also joked that he was half-black, “from the belly button down.”

On Friday though a line was crossed especially coming from a person of color when during the tour’s final stop on Friday in London, Floyd Mayweather used a homophobic slur when insulting McGregor. During the exchange, Mayweather calls his opponent a “punk” and a “faggot,” among other choice insults.

A rep for Mayweather later told TMZ that Mayweather only used that language in response to provocation, saying that McGregor had earlier called the boxer a “monkey” off-mic.

“The reason Floyd called Conor the F word is because Conor called Floyd a monkey,” the rep said. “Floyd has nothing against gays or lesbians at all … Floyd has them on his staff. Floyd has nothing but the utmost respect for gays and lesbians.”

However, Hudson Taylor, Executive Director of the group Athlete Ally, which aims to “foster inclusive sports communities,” was not buying the apology. He issued a statement about the incident and the response from Mayweather’s camp.

Athlete Ally strongly condemns the homophobic slur used by Floyd Mayweather. The response given by Mayweather’s representative is equally troubling. If Mayweather truly has the utmost respect for the LGBT community, he wouldn’t resort to using slurs that perpetuate anti-LGBT stigma and hate.

Additionally, if the allegations of Conor McGregor’s racial slur are true, McGregor too crossed an unacceptable line. Resorting to homophobic and racial epithets is shameful no matter how or why one uses them.
