Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber Plays Anti-Gay Race Baiting Card While Showing Brian Brown(shirt) Some Love

Indeed, that Barack Obama and the NAACP would align themselves with a militant, immoral lobby that literally takes “pride” in arrogant rebellion against biblical principles is, perhaps, what’s most troubling about this inexplicable political misstep.

It’s offensive — disgusting, in fact — that this pleasure-based, sex-centric movement — delineated by deviant proclivities and behaviors — would dare to equate its demands for celebration of bad behavior to Christian notions of racial equality.

Ken Hutcherson, an influential black pastor from the Seattle area, put it well: “It has been said loudly and proudly that gay marriage is a civil rights issue. If that’s the case, then gays would be the new African-Americans. I’m here to tell you now, and hopefully for the last time, that the gay community is not the new African-American community.

“Don’t compare your sin to my skin!” he demands.  – J Fat Matt Barber writing for Alan Keyes’ Renew America and making belive he’s black

For extra added laughs he also quotes Brian Brown who throws in some race baiting from NOM just for good measure.

Says Brown: Traditional marriage enjoys steadfast support in America, especially among African-Americans. Just this past May, an overwhelming percentage of black voters supported a marriage protection amendment in North Carolina, just as they did several years ago in California and in other states,”

Perhaps they forget that last March NOM and Brian Brownshirt was exposed for using these same  disgusting tactics of trying to purposely pit the black and gay community against each other.

But amazingly both NOM and The Liberty Counsel still enjoy thier 501c status.

I wonder is the Klan get a tax break?

NOM Using Race Baiting Scandal To Raise Money: The Evil Gays Are Playing The Race Card.”

So just how low can Brain Brown and The National Organization For Marriage go?

Looks to be about the about the depth of the fifth circle of Dante’s Inferno by the way NOM is using the recent bombshell of thier race baiting and manipulation of the African American and Latino communities and now have the nerve to try to spin it into a fundraising campaign.

“Gay marriage activists are on the attack like never before. And it’s getting personal. They are targeting NOM and have pulled out the race card in a desperate attempt to shut us down in this critical election year. Why? Because they know that our coalition is strong and growing, and NOM has become the single biggest obstacle in their campaign to force same-sex marriage on every American state, county and municipality.

“The latest barrage came Tuesday from the Gray Lady herself, when The New York Times editorial board charged NOM with employing a ‘poisonous political approach’ based on ‘racially and ethnically divisive strategies’ to block same-sex marriage. It’s laughable. As if NOM would presume to tell Black and Hispanic pastors what God says about marriage. NOM didn’t create this issue. The African American and Hispanic communities have always opposed same-sex marriage. It is the gay marriage activists and Democratic party elites who have forced the issue, ignoring the voices of Black and Hispanic voters.”

NOM has marched arm-in-arm with countless African American and Hispanic pastors, community leaders and grassroots supporters. They know us. They know our hearts. There is no way the other side can divide us.

Another one of my heroes understands just how critical this moment is, and has given us an ambitious new challenge: He will match every dollar we raise over the next 10 days dollar-for-dollar, up to $200,000!

I hope you will help us take advantage of the opportunity presented by this critical moment.  “The African American and Hispanic communities have always opposed same-sex marriage”

Really? According to whom?  You Brian?  Maggie Gallagher and your lily white cadre of Mormon financial backers?

I think not.

But the most obscene part of Browns begging has to be the playing of the “race card”.  The sheer shamelessness and desperation of NOM to decry others of “playing the race card” while trying to transparently push the divisive, racist agenda they’re accused of is staggering.

The New York Times Slams The National Organization For Marriage, Compares Them To Vermin

When a light is shined into the dark corners of American politics, it’s never pleasant to see what scurries away. Last week, a federal judge in Maine unsealed memos from the National Organization for Marriage, one of the most prominent groups fighting against same-sex marriage. [snip]

The documents brag about its “crucial” role in passage of Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage that was overturned by a federal appeals court. They describe the group’s use of “robo-calls” to scare residents in different states away from supporting marriage equality. They talk of a plan to “expose Obama as a social radical,” but the most appalling portions deal with the group’s racially and ethnically divisive strategies. [snip]

Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have publicly aligned themselves with the group and signed its pledge to work aggressively from the White House against same-sex marriage. Now that the group’s poisonous political approach is out in the open, Mr. Romney and the others should be racing to make clear their disapproval. We detect no stampede. – From the New York Times Editorial – Divide and Discriminate

Countdown until Brian Brown (shirt) and Maggie (Moooo-gie) Gallagher state that its a “badge of honor” to be “bullied” by the liberal New York Times in five….four….three….two….

Largest Latino Rights Group, National Council Of La Raza Condemns NOM’s Race Baiting Strategy

“The cravenness on display from NOM is reminiscent of another bastion of intolerance, the anti-immigrant movement. They too have enough political savvy to realize that first, Latinos are an important demographic and voting block and second, that movements built on bigotry and intolerance are most successful when their shameful agenda stays hidden from the public. If NOM had stopped its indefatigable scheming for just a moment to learn something about our community, this diabolical plan would never have been hatched.

First, not all Latinos are immigrants. Second, Latino immigrants welcome integration into American society. Third, Latinos are not foolish enough to believe that NOM has our best interests at heart. And, fourth, despite what NOM may think, the Latino community overwhelmingly supports LGBT equality. The Movement Advancement Project released research recently that showed that 74 percent of Latinos “support marriage or marriage-like legal recognition for gay and lesbian couples.” – Statement from The National Council Of LaRaza the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States via Think Progress

BRAVO!

NOM President Brian Brown Responds To Race Baiting Scandal: The Gays Are Just Making It Look Bad.

“Let me be the first to say that the tone of the language in that document as quoted by the press is inapt. Here’s something I know from the bottom of my soul: It would be enormously arrogant for anyone at NOM to believe that we can make or provoke African-American or Latino leaders do anything. The Black and Hispanic Democrats who stand up for marriage do so on principle—and get hit with a wave of vituperative attacks like nothing I have ever seen. We did not cause it, nor can we claim credit for these men and women’s courage in standing up in defense of our most fundamental institution: marriage. [snip]

“This is your movement, Human Rights Campaign. The ugliness it is generating is not consistent with the civil rights movement you claim to want to represent. The underlying narrative of the MSM attacks on NOM generated by this document’s release is absurd: The guts of the ‘Not a Civil Right Project’ was to reach out across lines of race, creed and party to work with great heroes like Sen. Rev. Díaz, Bishop George McKinney and other pastors at the Church of God in Christ (the largest black Pentecostal denomination), Bishop Harry Jackson, and other leaders in the black and Hispanic churches.”

Above the National Organization for Marriage’s Brian (Piggy Man) Brown attempts to save  himself and his organization against the charges or race baiting and attempting to start a war between the LGBT community and blacks and latinos to stop same sex marriage and LGBT Equality which was uncovered when official NOM documents were exposed stating that that was the organizations main strategy.  (Please notice how he sticks it into the middle of blog post as not to draw attention to it and make it a BIG deal.)

Brown can rationalize it any way he wants (since when does “dividing” people – their language – become “reach out across lines of race?,” with the obvious added implication that NOM sees itself as an inherently white entity), but the documents are clear. They seek to cynically use African-Americans. That’s it. That’s enough. No spin can save NOM from its own racism.

And if the “race baiting” wasn’t heinous enough lets lok at  page 25 of NOM’s  strategy plan, wherein they budget $120,000 strictly for the purpose of finding children of gay or lesbian couples who’d be willing to denounce their own parents on camera.

The NAACP’s Dr. Julian Bond Talks NOM’s Race Baiting Strategy On Anderson Cooper’s 360 – Video

Dr. Julian Bond, the former chairman of the NAACP appeared on Anderson Cooper’s 360 tonight to talk about the recent disclosure of the National Organization for Marriage’s “official documents” that stated that their strategy to stop same sex marriage, and LGBT equality in general was to race bait and start a war between the LGBT Community and Blacks and Latinos.

Said Bond: “Its one of the most cynical things that I have ever heard of and seen that these people are just pawns and can be played with. The black people who oppose gay marriage, the black people who support gay marriage can just be used and moved around like people on a chess board. It’s scary.”

The AP, CBS, The New York Times, and CNN Pick Up The National Organization For Marriage’s Race Baiting Scandal

National news media outlets have started picking up the story about the National Organization For Marriage’s recently exposed strategy via NOM official documents that they would fight same sex marriage and LGBT equality using race baiting by pitting Blacks and Latino’s against the LGBT community.

The New York Tines Caucus Blog:

“The strategic goal of the project is to drive a wedge between gays and blacks — two key Democratic constituencies,” reads a portion of the memo, describing an initiative called the “Not a Civil Right Project.” The project’s goal, according to the memo, is to recruit blacks who oppose gay marriage to serve as spokespeople for the group, then “provoke the gay marriage base into responding by denouncing these spokesmen and women as bigots.” Another initiative, described under the heading “Internationalizing the Marriage issue: A Pan-American Strategy,” is to convince Hispanic voters that efforts to legalize gay marriage would force them to assimilate to “the dominant Anglo culture.” The memo suggests that the strategy was inspired by successful efforts to outlaw same-sex marriage by initiative in California in 2008, when the measure passed with strong support from black voters, who turned out heavily to support Barack Obama for president. Brian S. Brown, executive director of the National Organization for Marriage, did not immediately return a call for comment on Tuesday.

A national group opposed to same-sex marriage aimed to fight it by driving “a wedge between gays and blacks” and identifying “glamorous” Latino artists and athletes to advocate traditional marriage, according to newly released confidential memos. The strategies were among several pursued by the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), which has actively campaigned against same-sex marriage efforts. The Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights organization, said it obtained the documents, part of a civil action in Maine, on Monday and published them on its website. “This court-ordered disclosure shows NOM fighting a losing battle with strategy and tactics that are racially and ethnically divisive, filled with false political calculations, and out of touch with the majority of fair-minded Americans,” Human Rights Campaign said in a statement.

CBS added a story on the NOM scandal story via The Associated Press

The leading national organization opposing same-sex marriage has sought to split the Democratic Party base by pitting African-Americans and Hispanics against gay-rights groups, according to confidential strategy memos made public by court officials in Maine. “The strategic goal of this project is to drive a wedge between gays and blacks — two key Democratic constituencies,” says one of the memos. It also suggests “interrupting” the process of cultural assimilation for Hispanics in hopes of curtailing support for same-sex marriage. The documents, dating from 2009, were written by the National Organization for Marriage and had been kept from the public until Monday, when they were unsealed by court officials in Maine. They were part of a two-pronged legal challenge of Maine’s financial disclosure laws. Still unresolved is whether the NOM will have to release the names of donors to its successful 2009 campaign to ban same-sex marriage in Maine.

FINALLY, some mainstream coverage. Apparently this really is scandalous enough for the bloodsucking corporate media to get some mileage out of it.

Ah well, if scandal is what it takes to get them to notice, bring. it. on baby, bring it on!
