Elizabeth Warren Officially Launches 2020 Presidential Campaign – Video

The Washington Post reports:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren jumped into the 2020 presidential campaign Monday, offering a message of economic populism as she became the best-known Democratic candidate yet to enter what is expected to be a crowded race.

Warren’s announcement that she was establishing an exploratory committee — the legal precursor to a run — came as other candidates, including several of her fellow senators, made final preparations for their own announcements, some of which are expected in days.

“America’s middle class is under attack,” the Massachusetts Democrat said in a four-minute, 30-second video emailed to supporters Monday. “How did we get here? Billionaires and big corporations decided they wanted more of the pie. And they enlisted politicians to cut them a bigger slice.”

Keith Olbermann Fired From Current TV – Olbermann Says He’ll Sue

Coming just a little more  than one year after outspoken progressive televison journalist Keith Olbermann was “let go” from MSNBC, Current TV  the  media company led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and businessman Joel Hyatt on Friday afternoon announced that it had fired Mr. Olbermann  just a year into his five-year, $50 million contract. It was the culmination of months of murky disputes between Mr. Olbermann and the channel that he was supposed to save from ratings oblivion.

From Current TV

“We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet. We are more committed to those goals today than ever before. Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.”

Forty-five minutes later, in a stream of Twitter messages, Olbermann threatened to take legal action against the channel and said its claims about him were untrue.   Olbermann, however, has said he has been very careful to fulfill the terms of his contract. On Twitter on Friday afternoon, he apologized for joining Current TV at all, calling it “a sincere and well-intentioned gesture on my part, but in retrospect a foolish one.”

He encouraged people to “read of a previous occasion Mr. Hyatt found himself in court for having unjustly fired an employee,” and linked to a New York Times article from 1990 that reported on a ruling against Mr. Hyatt’s firm that found that it had illegally removed the head of its Philadelphia office, Clarence B. Cain, after learning he had AIDS.

Olbermann’s slot tonight will be taken by Eliot Spitzer.  Which is almost akin to Snooki from Jersey Shore taking over for Oprah.

Matt Damon Blasts President Obama For His Lack Of “Balls”

Earlier in the year Hollywood Progressive Democrat Matt Damon, one of Obama’s earliest and loudest public supporters, told Piers Morgan the president “misinterpreted his mandate” by rolling over to banks and extending Bush-era tax cuts.

In the latest issue of Elle magazine Damon vent’s further about Obama’s less than stellar push backs against the GOP and Obama’s lack of leadership.

I’ve talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, ‘Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician,’ ” Damon says, his disappointment ringing with a now-familiar tone of wounded idealism. “You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better.” Damon gestures in the direction, just out of sight over the tree line, of the sign-wielding picketers (Occupy Vancover) who are beginning to gather steam. “If the Democrats think that they didn’t have a mandate—people are literally without any focus or leadership, just wandering out into the streets to yell right now because they are so pissed off,” he says. “Imagine if they had a leader.”

Wow when Matt Damon calls you out you are in Sarah Palin and Bush twin territory.

Elizabeth Warren Says: Repeal DOMA, Pass ENDA, and Fight Bullying – Elizabeth Warren For President!

Massachusetts State Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren spoke out loudly and clearly for FULL EQUALITY (Which is refreshing for a Democrat)  in a post at Blue Mass Group:

As other states grapple with whether to support marriage equality, I’m ready to move to the next step: End the two-tiered system created by the Defense of Marriage Act. Our federal government should not be in the business of selecting which married couples it supports and which it treats with contempt. States define marriage among couples, and, once married, all those couples and their families should have the same protections, the same benefits, and the same tax treatments. Fairness and equality are foundational values in our country, and nowhere is that more important than in our families.

In the workplace, people should be hired for what they can do and evaluated on their performance – period. I strongly support the fully inclusive Employee Non-Discrimination Act. Particularly in these uncertain times, people must have confidence that they will be judged on the merits. Again, this speaks to the fairness and equality that mark us as a people.

Finally, Massachusetts has been a leader in combating the rise of bullying. After college, I taught elementary school and saw first hand how important it is for kids to learn in a safe and welcoming environment. We need to help teachers and administrators create and foster an environment that welcomes students and their families, whether kids are being raised in a single parent household, by their grandparents, or by their lesbian moms or gay dads.

BRAVA!

Screw the Senate.  WARREN for PRESIDENT!
