Best Reply Ever To Why Gays Are So Impatient and Pissed Off At The Democrats

This comes from over at Americablog Gay. and its well worth the repost.

One poster offers a criticism on why some gays voted Republican and thus cost the Dems the election.  (Which is a lie because we don;t have that much power in our voting block.) The poster blames it on the “impatience” of the gay community and specifically on DADT.

And because Gays could not be patient they just let the Republicans gain in the house and senate, where DADT has to be repealed, guaranteeing at least another couple of years being treated as second class citizens. An executive order can be easily overturned by another executive order. Not fighting the appeal leaves it open to be re-litigated under another president. Only congress can change this law and you chose not to vote because it wasn’t happening fast enough

Misinformed and stupid comment.  But what really stood out was the reply to this comment.  It summed all the anxiety and frustration that many suffer and feel right now in the LGBT Community especially amongst the baby boomers.

Please read this EXCELLENT response by an AmericaBlog Gay poster jpjones.

Couldn’t be patient???

Look, asshole, when people of my generation were beginning to discover our sexuality, Anita Bryant was telling America that we are all sexual predators looking to indoctrinate innocent victims. And when I reached adulthood and began the process of coming out, Reagan’s cabinet was telling America that AIDS was God’s retribution for our “unnatural lifestyle” and William Buckley wrote that we should all be tattooed so people would know not to touch us. When I was in my mid-twenties Sam Nunn was telling America that we couldn’t serve on submarines because of our inability to keep our hands off of straight people. And finally, when I’m old enough to think I’m too smart and experienced to be charmed by a con artist, along comes The Fierce Advocate, with Rick Warren in tow, comparing me to a pedophile.

I’m now 45 and I’m GODDAMNED SICK AND TIRED of being “patient.” I’m an American citizen and all I want are the same rights that straight people take for granted from the day they are born. And until the Democrats demonstrate through actions that they believe all that sanctimonious bullshit they always spout during election season, I don’t care whether they win or not. When I get equality, they can have my vote again.

In the meantime, I suggest you fucking learn to be patient with a Republican government.

Where I was totally against voting Republican an I did drag my raggedy second class gay citizen ass to vote and voted for the “We Suck Less Party” known as the Democrats I ONLY did it to invalidate a Republican/Tea Party vote.  But in my opinion jpjones post sums it up in a nutshell how we all feel today.

The looming question is what do we do now?

DADT Repeal DEAD, DOMA Repeal DEAD, ENDA DEAD and The Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act DEAD.- ARE YOU ANGRY ENOUGH TO FIGHT YET?

In the almost two years since Obama promised us the world and gave us nothing, The DADT Repeal is DEAD, The DOMA Repeal is DEAD, ENDA is DEAD and The Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act is DEAD.  And to add insult to injury yyesterday, when “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was dying a slow death in Congress wehre was Obama?  He was busy calling the WNBA champions. And today, the day after Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln joined the Republicans in filibustering the Defense Bill, Today VP Joe Biden is out fundraising for Lincoln’s re-election.

Aren’t you fucking angry yet?  You should be.

John Aravosis over at AmericaBlogGay sums up the situation::

At this point, anyone who tells you that they’re going to pass the DADT compromise during the lame duck session (i.e., after the November election but before the new Congress gets seated in January), is either naive or simply lying to you. This Congress and this President wouldn’t even hold a vote on the health care reform bill – the President’s #1 campaign promise – after we lost Senator Kennedy’s seat and before Scott Brown was seated. Do you honestly believe that Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress care more about passing gay rights legislation than they did about health care reform?

All three of Barack Obama’s most important promises to the LGBT community – DADT, DOMA, ENDA – are now dead in the water, in large part due the White House’s own malfeasance and neglect. And you’re expected to wipe the tears, open your wallets, and once again go to polls and vote for the same people who weren’t competent enough – who didn’t care enough – to keep their promises to you the first time around

Have we finally learned that Politicians are too afraid to fight for us, and that the “hearts and minds” bullshit just doesn’t work that any kind of “vote”, either public or private will ALWAYS screw us in the end (no pun intended)  Because there will ALWAYS be people who HATE US,

The ONLY way to finally get our rights is through the courts and to start standing up and showing them that WE ARE ANGRY.  (Not crazy teabagger angry.  I mean we have a REAL CONSTITUTIONAL problem)

And you know what I don;t give a flying fuck if there are people out there who hate me. Because truthfully I hate them for being bigoted small minded evil people and maybe its about time we show it and they know it.  Because this my children is where taking the moral high road and being above it all gets us.  Royally fucked.

I would hope that by now, and especially after yesterday that we have learned that phone calls and letters and lobbying doesn’t work.  The Politicos only do what they think is best for them.  We now  need to stand up and actually show anger, push, take to the streets and take to the courts. EVERY STATE should have lawsuits in them attacking DADT and DOMA. . This soft balling is killing us and keeping us stagnant.  It is also why hate crimes are rising so much because it gives our enemies, and yes they ARE OUR ENEMIES time and an outlet to lie and fester hate against us.

It’s time to fight tooth and nail. To consciously set out to ppolitically destroy those who oppose us . But most of all we need to show some backbone.

Where’s the outrage over yesterday?  Some blog posts don;t cut it.  Where are the Marches and Rallies Why aren’t all the homo’s in DC handcuffing themselves to the White House fence?.

We’ve tried being PROACTIVE it’s now time to be REACTIVE.  Now call Olympis Snowe, Susan Collins, Blance Lincoln and others and let them know how you REALLY feel about them and what they did. Let Obama and the DNC know.

We have two choices right no FIGHT or GET OUT.  And everyone knows after November the next few years are going to be rough because the Republicans and Teabaggers are going to take the Hill so there is no chance of any gay rights measures making it through after November.

It’s time to change our strategy, its time to get mad.

IT’S TIME TO TAKE A STAND.

The Openly Gay Mayor Of West Sacramento Knew That Anti-Gay Closeted State Sen. Roy Ashburn Was Gay And He Said NOTHING!

Christopher Cabaldon, the openly gay mayor of West Sacramento told KOVR he has spotted Senator Ashburn at gay hot spots a number of times. It seems the fact that Ashburn hypocrasy that he’s out cruising foir dick and has consistently voted against gay rights legislation including no on recognizing out of state same-sex marriages, no on creating a state recognized Harvey Milk Day, and no on expanding anti-discrimination laws obviously didn’t bother Mayor Cabaldon enough to actually fucking say something to someone.  And if Cabaldon knew, then many other queers in Sacramento and the State of California knew. It’s unfuckingbelieveable to me that Assburn who spent his days trampling on gay rights walked through, partied and fucked his way through the gay community at night and not one person said a word!

WAKE UP PROPLE!

when you know somebody is actively working day and night to thwart the rights of your FAMILY, of your PEOPLE, you fucking say something. You say it loudly and you say it many times.

As for you Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, I am sending your office a link to this post and I invite you to explain why you never said a word about Ashburn.
