In a recent column on the GOP/Tea Party propaganda news site Brietbart.com  interviewed Joseph Nicolsi Jr., the son of NARTH (The National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality) founder Joseph Nicolosi in which he denounced California’s bill which would ban ex-gay torture for adults under fraud laws.

An excerpt:

Nicolosi is a licensed clinical psychologist who runs the largest reparative therapy clinic in the world. He told Breitbart News that his clinic uses evidence-based treatment interventions, the same interventions used by other clinics throughout the world, to treat trauma and sexual addictions.

Dr. Nicolosi said limiting people’s legitimate options for ideological reasons is a textbook case of political overreach. “Sacramento politicians want to deny the people of California the freedom to find joy in living consistently with their values, including as they relate to their sexuality,” he said.

In 1997, the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) conducted a survey of 882 patients who underwent reparative therapy seeking to modify their sexual orientation. Nearly half of the patients (47 percent) experienced a significant change in their sexual attraction. Among patients who self-identified as “exclusively homosexual” before treatment, 18 percent self-identified as exclusively heterosexual following therapy, while 17 percent identified as almost entirely heterosexual and 12 percent as more heterosexual than homosexual.

The current power play is reminiscent of a similar political move in 1973 that eliminated homosexuality from official lists of psychological disorders not because of any scientific discovery that changed the opinion of the medical profession, but because of political pressure from gay-rights activists to reclassify homosexuality as “normal.”

In March 2016, the World Psychiatric Association (representing about 160 countries) wrote to the U.N and world leaders. In their declaration, they stated that homosexuality cannot be reversed. But I am sure Joseph Nicolsi Jr a licensed clinical physiologist from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a regular on the Kirk Cameron podcast knows more.

Family Research Council vice douchebag president Peter Sprigg, testified before the Washington DC City Council Committee on Health Friday in opposition to Bill 20-501,  the “Conversion Therapy for Minors Prohibition Amendment Act of 2013” that would stop the torture of ex-gay therapy quackery on LGBT children in the District.   Testified Sprigg:

“At the heart of the attacks on sexual reorientation therapy are two claims– that such therapies are ineffective, and that they are harmful. However, there is abundant anecdotal evidence that such therapies work — that is, people who say that they were helped by such therapies to change from predominantly homosexual to predominantly heterosexual. There is also scientific evidence. The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality has cited ‘600 reports of clinicians, researchers, and former clients — primarily from professional and peer-reviewed scientific journals’ which show that ‘reorientation treatment has been helpful to many.’ The American Psychological Association (APA), under the sway of a small but influential pro-homosexual lobby, has criticized and discouraged (but never banned) reorientation therapy. Yet even the APA acknowledges that ‘participants reporting beneficial effects in some studies perceived changes to their sexuality, such as in their sexual orientation, gender identity, sexual behavior, [and/or] sexual orientation identity.” [snip] “

But what does the empirical evidence show? Not only did those who were exclusively homosexual not all remain so, but only 11% did. Some measure of change in sexual orientation—which many homosexual activists say is impossible, and never happens to anyone—is not only possible, but it is the norm for adolescents with same-sex attractions, having been experienced by 89% of the respondents only one year later.”

While some pro-homosexual activists will concede that some measure of fluidity exists, they say that complete transformation—from exclusively homosexual to exclusively heterosexual—is not possible. Yet this kind of complete reversal of sexual orientation is exactly what was reported by almost half (48%) of the adolescent boys in this survey and again, after only one year. The last refuge of the homosexual activists in the face of this kind of evidence is to concede, “Well, yes, a person’s sexual orientation can change—but only by accident, not by trying to change it!” This is somewhat like saying, “Well, yes, obese people can lose weight—but not by trying to, and certainly not with anyone else’s help!

The plural of anecdote is not data. Data is supported by evident, anecdotes are by definition subjective.

Just one of these hearings or when they have Sprigg on television as an “expert”  I would like for someone to play the clip of Spriggs saying he would like to see homosexuals forcibly exported out of the U.S. or where he said he would like to see homosexuality made a criminal offense. And THEN ask him why he thinks he has ANY credibility on issues like this and smack the shit out of him.

Meet David Pruden M.A the new Director of NARTH (The National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality) a self described “non-profit, educational organization dedicated to affirming a complementary, male-female model of gender and sexuality

NARTH explains in their mission statement “clients have the right to claim a gay identity, or to diminish their homosexuality and to develop their heterosexual potential.” They claim to attain this through years of reparative therapy, (also used interchangeably with the terms conversion therapy and sexual brokenness) a practice the American Psychiatric Association says can “lead to depression, anxiety and self destructive behavior, may reinforce self hatred and suicide.”

David Pruden, is the former executive director of Salt Lake City-based Evergreen International.

A former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, describes his experience of Mormon conversion therapy at  Evergreen International under Prudens leadership and calls it a “sucide mill”

He states:

Of the 15 men that were with me [in the Evergreen program] in the Denver area, one third of those men committed suicide. … The success statistics in Evergreen are based on how many people are still going to the meetings. They don’t care if you’re feeling better. Success is if you’re still going to church, you’re paying your tithing … you haven’t divorced your wife.

In 2010, George Rekers, a psychologist and  scientific adviser to NARTH, was photographed at Miami International Airport with a 20-year-old male prostitute who had accompanied him on a 10-day European vacation. Rekers insisted he had hired the man, who advertised his services on Rentboy.com, merely to carry his luggage. The man disagreed. He told reporters he had given Rekers daily nude massages that included genital contact.

April 7, 1907 – The ultimate “fag hag” Violette Leduc was born in Arras Pas de Calais, France. She hated being a woman and continually went after gay men. One of them, Maurice Sachs told her to write just to get rid of her. She did. Her book Le Batarde, was the story of her upbringing as an illegitimate child which blamed on the sexuality of her mother. She once told a friend she wanted to wear a tight body stocking to hold in her breasts and then attach a “strap on” dildo in order to bed gay writer Jean Genet.

April 8, 1990 – Ryan White at age 18 dies of AIDS after a five-year battle with the disease.  Ryan became the national poster child for HIV/AIDS in the United States, after being expelled from middle school in Kokomo Indiana because of his infection. As a hemophiliac, he became infected with HIV from a contaminated blood treatment and, when diagnosed in December 1984, was given six months to live. Doctors said he posed no risk to other students, but AIDS was poorly understood at the time, and when White tried to return to school, many parents and teachers in Kokomo rallied against his attendance. A lengthy legal battle with the school system ensued, and media coverage of the case made White into a national celebrity and spokesman for AIDS research and public education. Surprising his doctors, Ryan lived five years longer than predicted but died in April 1990, one month before his high school graduation.the discrimination it brought upon him and his family. – Watch the new coverage of Ryan’s passing below.

Throughout his life he kept journals about everything. Perhaps when they are published we will learn all about his reputed affair with photographer George Platt Lynes and museum curator Monroe Wheeler.

April 12, 1526 – Marc-Antoine Muret is born near Limoges France. The 16th century humanist was accused by the church of being a sodomist and a Protestant. He was of course only one of them.  Care to guess which one?

April 13th ***** – Nothing much happened this day in LGBT history.  Perhaps its time to OUT Senator Lindsey Graham or Arron Schrock publicly and add an entry for 2013.  I’ll think about it.

NARTH – National Association for the Research and Therapy of Homosexuality Loses Its Tax Exempt Status

In September 2012, the tax exempt status of the National Association for the Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) was revoked due to failure to file Form 990 for three consecutive years. The notice of revocation was yesterday according to the IRS website. NARTH’s website advises prospective donors that their donations will be tax deductible but it appears such deductions after September 15, 2012 may not be allowed. It is difficult to know what this means. NARTH has never been a wealthy organization and conference attendance has declined in recent years.

NARTH was founded in 1992 by Benjamin Kaufman, Charles Socarides, and Joseph Nicolosi because according to them the American Psychiatric Association and similar professional organizations “had totally stifled the scientific inquiry that would be necessary to stimulate a discussion [about homosexuality].

NARTH pushes the idea, with the zeal of a religious movement, that no one is born gay and that a person’s sexual orientation can be changed through what is known as “reparative” or “conversion” therapy, aka “ex-gay” therapy.

NARTH ia the go to source for “junk science” from the religious right — psychology that underpins the anti-gay movement’s fervent opposition to equal rights and stigmatizes LGBT people as mentally sick.

In 1995, for example, NARTH featured Scott Lively, co-author of The Pink Swastika: Homosexuality in the Nazi Party, at its annual conference. Lively’s book argues that the Nazi Party recruited gay men because of their inherent savagery and that gay men largely orchestrated the Holocaust — a claim roundly rejected by all reputable historians. NARTH has also promoted the work of Paul Cameron, who remains director of the Family Research Institute despite being ejected from the American Psychological Association and the American Sociological Association (ASA). The ASA declared, “Dr. Cameron has consistently misinterpreted and misrepresented sociological research on sexuality, homosexuality, and lesbianism.”

One NARTH critic, a former member, says these associations are the results of work that has been patterned to conform to an ideology.

In recent years, NARTH has suffered several embarrassing episodes, caused not by its alliances but by its own members.

In 2007, Joesph Nicolosi NARTH’s President came under fire after an essay seeming to justify slavery appeared on NARTH’s website. In the piece, “Gay Rights and Political Correctness: A Brief History,” Dr. Gerald Schoenewolf, a New York psychotherapist and member of the group’s science advisory committee, wrote, “Africa at the time of slavery was still primarily a jungle. … Life there was savage … and those brought to America, and other countries, were in many ways better off.” (Nicolosi stepped down as NARTH president after criticism mounted, but he remains instrumental in the group.)

In 1970, a five-year-old boy named Kirk Murphy was subjected to an ex-gay experiment. Under the care of George Rekers, , he underwent therapy to eliminate supposed effeminate behaviors.

In 1974, Lovaas and Rekers jointly published a paper about the boy they renamed “Kraig,” heralding his treatment for “childhood cross-gender problems” a success and claiming he had been transformed from a gender-confused homosexual-in-waiting to a healthy, heterosexual young man. On the back of this study, Rekers built a career as an anti-gay activist and a supposed expert in childhood sexual development. He co-founded the officially sanctioned anti-gay hate the Family Research Council and championed “ex-gay” therapy to turn gay men straight.

In 2003, Kirk, aged 38 years old and gay, committed suicide.

"God Can Lift Your ‘Burden" LDS Leader Tells Gay Mormons At Ex-Gay Conference For Evergreen International aka NARTH – (And Don’t Forget That Rentboys Can Lift Your Luggage TOO!)

Bishop Keith B. McMullin, second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka MORMONS!) spoke at the 20th annual conference of Evergreen International, a nonprofit support group for Mormons who want to “overcome homosexual behavior.”  even though Evergreen is not “officially affiliated” with the Morom church. ( To have a look inside the 2009 Evergreen Confrence head on over to Pam’s House Blend where Investigative reporter Jesse Fruhwirth of  of Salt Lake City Weekly was the only reporter ever to gain access to the conference)

On Saturday, McMullin said people with same-sex attraction should not call themselves “gay” or “lesbian.” He offered advice to LDS ecclesiastical leaders in the audience of about 200 people.

“If someone seeking your help says to you, ‘I am a homosexual,’ or, ‘I am lesbian,’ or, ‘I am gay,’ correct this miscasting,” McMullin said. “Heavenly Father does not speak of his children this way and neither should we. It is simply not true. To speak this way seeds a doubt and deceit about who we really are.” (Oh brother…) and that every individual is a “son or daughter” of God. Jesus Christ, who has the power to lift the “burden” of every “man and woman, boy and girl.”

Just another slap from the cult that is the Mormon church and proof how far they have not come since the days of electroshock therapy and abuse of Gay and Lesbian men.

Oh and as for Evergreen,  Evergreen director David C. Pruden DEFENDED George Alan Rekers and his “Lift My Luggage” Scandal by issuing a curious statement which might be read as an admission of hypocrisy on Pruden’s part reading:  “Without judging anyone else, let me say that I do know that if being stupid or even a hypocrite eliminated someone from public involvement, almost all of us who were honest would have to live alone in a cave somewhere.” Pruden then added, “I know I would

Family Research Council Attempts To Stop Holland, MI Anti-Discrimination Ordinance Using Discredited Anti-Gay Phamplet Attributted To Geroge "Lift My Luggage" Rekers and NARTH

Tony Perkins and The Family Research Council is at it again, this time in Holland, MI tryiong to stop the town from considering an anti-discrimination ordinance that would cover sexual orientation and gender identity.

On July 23, The Family Research Council and Request Foods took out a full page ad in the Holland Sentinel usiong  untruths based on a  discredited and bogus information taken from a  pamphlet called “The Ten Myths About Homosexuality” which uses research from  none other than rentboy loving George “Lift My Luggage” Rekers’ and  “ex-gay” group NARTH..

Pride Source reports that the group Holland Is Ready, which is supporting efforts to pass the anti-discrimination ordinance, planned to meet Wednesday morning to decide its course of action.

‘I was sad to see this ad in our local paper, but it’s typical of groups like the FRC, who are becoming more and more desperate in their communication,’ said Jennifer Adams, an organizer of the group. ‘Their approach is to engender fear by spreading blatant untruths about LGBT people.’ Adams said it would not alter the work of Holland Is Ready. ‘Our work will continue to remain focused on equality for all based on actions of justice, awareness and love,” she said. Among other things, the ad said homosexuals can be changed into heterosexuals “sometimes spontaneously, and sometimes as a result of therapeutic interventions,’ that homosexuals experience considerably higher levels of mental illness and substance abuse than heterosexuals and that gay people are not seriously disadvantaged by discrimination.”

Request Foods which co-sponsored the anti-gay ad with the Family Research Council is a frozen-food maker that has received millions in grants from the state of Michigan. and one of its biggest clients is Campbell’s Soup.  Jack DeWitt the President of Request Foods has also contributed thousands to Family Research Council’s political action committee.”

In its 2009 Corporate Equality Index, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) rated Campbells as one of the top employers for supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality.

Perhaps they should learn about Request Foods and its anti-gay discrimination.
