Around June 2, eggs had been thrown at the building, and the words “Church of Sodom” and “Church of Gomorrah Lev 18:2″ were written on each side of the entrance to the church in black marker. The church pastor said the bible verses were meant to be against homosexuals.
Another bible verse was written on the church on June 8, and on June 30, “Gay Pride? No! Shameful Sodomites! Jude 7. Love cult! Matt 7:21-23″ was scrawled in black crayon on each side of the doorway. Handcuffs also locked the entry way door, and egg yolk was dripping on the entry way glass and sidewalk.
On July 26, authorities placed a camera on the outside of the church, and on July 28, the establishment was egged and vandalized again.
After examining videotape, police questioned Roseland, who is wheelchair-bound, about the incidents. Roseland confessed to the crimes. The station says he told police that “any church that recognizes gays can be married in the eyes of God is not a church but a cult” and that’s why he did it.
Perhaps Llyod should have read a bit further into the book of Leviticus about who is really welcome or not in a church if he wants to be so literal.
“For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous.”
Rolling, rolling, rolling. Keep that faux-christian hate rolling….. RAWHIDE!
At midnight on Wednesday, Minnesota becomes the 12th state in the nation to legalize same sex marriage. It’s been a lifetime struggle for many, including one Minneapolis couple who are believed to be the first gay couple in the United States to be married – and it was 42 years ago.
Jack Baker and Mike McConnell were legally married by a young Methodist minister in Mankato, MN. Baker had legally changed his name to the gender-neutral Pat Lynne McConnell and McConnell got the marriage license. By the time the state of MN figured it out it was already too late. The two were legally married.
While Minnesota did try to null and void their marriage Baker and McConnell fought back fguriously and predicted they would win eventually, but the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that their marriage was illegal. However, their license was never revoked and they still have it today.
Baker and McConnell currently have no plans to marry under Minnesota’s new marriage equality law because, as they rightfully and proudly say, they already are.

A 20-year-old Iowa college student who worked for Bradlee Dean’s “You Can Run But You Cannot Hide” ministry until late last month, has gone public with allegations that “the ministry” is actually a cult and that Dean is a crook after he was hired for a job and instead Dean took all his money, mentally abused him and kept him alienated from the world.
Dean is best know for being Michelle Bachmann’s boy toy, kicked out of WalMart parking lots for fake “Christian” ministry begging, and who also filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Rachel Maddow which he lost and now refuses to pay the court ordered legal fees.
Dagel’s press release reads:
FORMER EMPLOYEE OF BRADLEE DEAN’S MINISTRY SAYS MINISTRY IS A CULT
***Former employee of You Can Run But Can Not Hide International says ministry is a cult and donations are being abused***
Jake Dagel, a former employee of Bradlee Dean’s Minnesota based ministry, You Can Run But Can Not Hide International, is publicly coming forward today to share his experiences while working with the ministry. Dagel believes the ministry is a cult who manipulates and controls the minds of its employees. Dagel has also found through investigation that the ministry has abused donation money.
Dagel, a 20 year old student from Iowa first came into contact with Dean’s ministry when he invited him to speak at his community college in Iowa. Two weeks after the presentation Dagel became an employee of the ministry and joined the street evangelism team. While on the team Dagel traveled the country with the ministry to share the gospel in public locations.
Dagel reports that while working with the street evangelism team he was belittled and told he knew little about how Christianity worked, there was little for him back at home, was forced to tithe to the ministry, and that not talking to his family was normal. Dagel was also not allowed to watch television and was told to not pay attention to any media.
While traveling back from Florida on Saturday, June 29th the evangelism team made a stop around 3:00 AM in Pulawski, Tennessee to get gas. Dagel was told it was his turn to pay for gas but did not have the money to do so. Dagel was then instructed to either pay for gas or grab his belonging and get out of the vehicle. Because Dagel was without money to pay for the gas he got out of the vehicle while members of the ministry drove off to their destination.
Upon further investigation Dagel has found that according to You Can Run International’s 2011 IRS Form 990, President Bradlee Dean was paid $80,261 in compensation and $41,860 in housing allowance in 2011 for a total of $122,121. This is an increase of a $24,931 from the 2009 IRS Form 990. Secretary Jacob MacAulay was paid $55,604 in compensation and $25,678 in housing allowance for a total of $81,282 in 2011. This is an increase of $14,385 from the 2009 IRS Form 990.
“This so called ministry is clearly a cult due to the way it manipulates and controls its employees,” said Dagel. “It is also clear that the ministry abuses donation money by its administrators taking large housing allowances when many of its employees struggle to pay their own bills. I am making this information public in hopes that others will reconsider being employed by the ministry and giving them any money in donation.”
An investigation in 2011 and reported here at Back2Stonewall also shows that Bradlee Dean is not an ordained minister of any mainstream domination and bought his “ministry credentials” in 2004 to sever himself from the Government.
Straight talking, straight ally Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe penned one of his great op-eds for CNN in which he talks about when there will be an openly gay NFL player and about how some players might think it be “distraction” to a team. And as usual the awesome Kluwe, does not mince words and lays it all out on the line.
“Instead of looking at an openly gay player as a distraction, ask yourselves — how much better would that player play if he didn’t have to worry about hiding a core part of who he is? How many more sacks would he have, free of that pressure? How many more receptions? How many more rushing yards?
Fans, media — will an openly gay player be a distraction? Only if you make it one. Only if you insist on denying someone the freedom to live his own life on his own terms, instead of under someone else’s control. Stop worrying about who a player dates; worry about his completion percentage, or tackles for loss, or return average. I can promise you, on Sundays the only thing he’s worried about is lining up and doing his job to the best of his ability, or else he’s going to be cut (just like any of us).
Players — Those of you worried about a gay teammate checking out your ass in the shower, or hitting on you in the steam room, or bringing too much attention to the team — I have four simple words for you. Grow the f*** up.
This is our job, we are adults, so would you kindly act like one?”
Do yourself a favor and read the whole op-ed. The man is awesome.
A Catholic priest at the Assumption Church in Barnesville, MN found a pro same-sex marriage post on the teenagers Facebook page and is now refusing to allow 17-year-old Lennon Cihak to be confirmed with the rest of his class.
The decision by the Rev. Gary LaMoine (218-354-7320 )to deny the religious rite of passage for Lennon Cihak in mid-October shocked his mother, who said her son has gone to church every week and volunteered around the community in preparation for his confirmation this year. “You kind of know the Catholic beliefs, but I never thought they would deny somebody confirmation because you weren’t 100 percent. I guess that’s what shocks me,” Shana Cihak said. Lennon said fellow students in his confirmation class “liked” the photo on Facebook, but they were still allowed to be confirmed. “I just thought it was wrong to single him out,” Shana said. Her husband, Doug Cihak, agreed. “(LaMoine) was talking about ‘God doesn’t believe in this.’ Well, God created Lennon,” said Doug, adding that he was baptized and raised in the same church. But now the family is not allowed to participate in Communion there, Doug said, and he’s worried as to how far the sanctions will go, expressing concern about being able to be buried alongside his parents.
Every time I think the Roman Catholic Church has sunk to a new lower level of arrogance, they surprise me with yet another record low-level. The Vatican is looking more and more like the Mafia daily
When a church no longer serves its members but expects its members to serve it, it has failed.
And I would like to know why a Catholic Priest was looking at a 17 year old boys Facebook page in the first place?
“I would like to thank every single person that helped defeat the same-sex marriage ban in Minnesota, as well as every person who contributed to passing marriage-equality legislation in Maryland and Maine and (likely) Washington. Together, we made a statement that America is tired of division. America is tired of discrimination, of exclusion, and of unthinking oppression—the belief that people have to live their lives according to someone else’s views rather than their own free will.
“Together, we made sure that the world our children will grow up in is one step closer to tolerance, love, and equality; a world where our children can make their own choices instead of being shackled to dusty hate from the past. Together, we showed this nation that a polity functions best when it includes all of its citizens, when it celebrates their differences as part of one glorious whole, when it synthesizes a wide assortment of cultures and beliefs under the guiding principles of freedom and happiness for everyone.
“Together, we can approach the work still at hand. We can face the continuous fight for equality that every society must wage each generation. We may not know the specifics until they’re upon us, but the underlying foundation is always the same—living your own life vs. someone else making your choices for you.
“Together, we can promote free will over oppression. We can treat others the way we want to be treated, with dignity and respect. We can work together to find common ground, despite our differences, and build a stable, nurturing society. There is work yet to be done, but we passed an important milestone today. Ten, 15, 20 years from now, when our children ask us, ‘What did you do when it came time to fight for someone else?,’ we can tell them about Minnesota and Maryland and Maine, states where people finally said: Enough.
“Enough with the hate. Enough with the bigotry. Enough with the discrimination. We are all Americans, and we are all in this together. Without each other, we have nothing.” – Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, writing for Slate.com
Due to some very aggressive campaigning (finally) and MN Vikings Straight ally Chris Kluwe ALL 4 ballot measures that appeared on ballots across the Unites States passed in our favor yesterday breaking a losing streak second only to that of the Cincinnati Bengals.
In the toughest ballot race last night Minnesota voters said “NO” to bigotry and gave a huge “FUCK YOU” to NOM, the Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus, when the proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage was surprisingly defeated.
Said Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak told hundreds of amendment opponents gathered at the RiverCentre in St. Paul late Tuesday night. “You understood compassion. This wound up being one of the most inspirational things that’s ever happened in Minnesota. Minnesota is going to be the state that’s going to show the country exactly what Minnesota values are all about.”
In Maryland where final tally is not yet in and the margin remains slim, many major LGBT rights organizations and news organizations are claiming victory for gay marriage in Maryland. Where MD voters approved Question 6, the Civil Marriage Protection Act, paving the way for gay and lesbian couples to receive a marriage license beginning in January.
In Maine the Portland Press-Heraldis calling its gay marriage ballot question a win and Maine today became the first state to approve the freedom to marry for same-sex couples through a majority vote on a ballot measure. Maine is expected to begin issuing marriage licenses in mid-December.
And last but not least in Washington State, Seattle’s Capitol Hill turned into a street party Tuesday night as voters celebrated the state’s approval of gay marriage. Governor Chris Gregoire signed to law in February of this year but a ballot question was submitted to public referendum by opponents where it was beaten last night.
THIS IS GAY HISTORY IN THE MAKING!
Congratulations to all and a thank you to all who worked so hard on these ballot initiatives.
Now, FINALLY parts of the community is finally wakign up and taking the gloves, and using awesome straight forward words and tactics that are being incorporated into a new radio ad against Minnesota’s marriage inequality amendment. Which works a helluva lot better than tired old Gay Inc mantra of “Please Sir, can we have some LGBT Rights?”
BRAVO to Kluwe and BRAVO to Minnesotans for Equality for an awesome ad!
Anti-Gay Minnesota Congressman Chip Cravaak is a truthful portrait of a REAL Tea Party member.
Cravaak who pushed his way s into office during the 2010 midterm election on the Tea Party platform and has voted for the Paul Ryan plan to kill Medicare and had bashed unions during his election campaign enjoys all the benefits of BEING A UNION MEMBER
Turns out Cravaak worked as a pilot for Northwest Air, and being a pilot means that you are automatically a union member, thus receiving the benefits of union negotiated salaries, vacations and ultimately, disability payments. And according to financial records released by Cravaak himself, the Tea Party Representative received $92,273 from disability payments in 2010 alone.
So while Cravaak was busy bashing “big government” and unions, he was also busy cashing disability checks made possible by the Unions he so despises.
Cravaak also receives government run health care as a military veteran, meaning he can walk into any government owned medical facility to receive medical care and the taxpayer picks up the tab. He enjoys what he and the Tea Party call “socialized medicine” even as he votes to strip senior citizens of their own government health care
What a shining example of the GOP, the Tea Party, and being a massive asshole and hyporite.
