Michelangelo Signorile Bitchslaps Down Chris Barron and GOProud

Michelangelo Signorile has written an essay for The Advocate that takes Chris Barron (who once called yours truly a member if the “American Taliban) and his organization GOProud to task. 

Signorile, in ways that only he can, points out the hypocrisay, dellusions and megalomania of Barron and GOProud and prove that they are nothing more than  pathetic people who love their money and hate themselves thier brethren in the LGBT community.

First off, denialists and elitists who believe they are superior to other gays — even if the attitude masks a pitiful self-loathing — are clearly as prevalent as ever in the LGBT movement, except that they can now be out of the closet. Perversely, the fact that we can find such people in GOProud is a measure of our success.

Their motivations are probably unique to each but there are some commonalities: a desire to be close to power; a hunger for attention and GOP approval; a selfish devotion to Republican “fiscal” policies over civil rights; and a belligerence toward gay activists, whom they seem to detest.

GOProud’s Chris Barron fits right in, often appearing desperate for Republican acceptance, compromising his positions at a moment’s notice—if he even had any to begin with. Formerly political director for the Log Cabin Republicans, he broke away and cofounded GOProud, claiming that Log Cabin wasn’t conservative enough. Since its founding in 2009, GOProud slowly moved in the direction of not taking any pro-gay positions, all in an attempt to be included in the Republican Party, even though Barron oddly once tweeted that GOProud is “a gay organization, we only work on gay issues.

GOProud is opposed to the proposed Employment Non-Discrimination Act and the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which is now law. And fearing being cut out of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference — which for 2012 has banned groups that support any pro-gay legislation — Barron told the blog RedState last February, “Considering we don’t support gay marriage and DADT isn’t part of our 2011 legislative agenda [I’m] not sure how this affects us at all.”

Signorile hits it all on the head.  Barron and GOProuds desire to be close to power; a hunger for attention and GOP approval; the selfish devotion to Republican “fiscal” policies over civil rights; and a belligerence toward gay activists.

GOProud are the  Auntie Toms of the LGBT community and Chris Barron has his nose so far up Republican’s asses even though they loathe him that he’s gonna need MORE  RINOplasty soon.

Dan Choi Defends Attending CPAC To Michelangelo Singorile… MASSIVE FAIL!

Dan Choi appeared on The Gist hosted by Michelangelo Signorelli today to defend attending the Conservative Political Action Conference with GoProud, the waaaaaay far right fringe Republican gay group it’s President the ab obsessed Chris R. Barron who seems to happily bash the gay left. “The American Taliban” as he calls them and whose group stands against many gay rights issues.such as the fact that Barron and GOProud stand with the the GOP saying that gay marriage should be up to individual states only . GOProud also opposes ENDA. GOProud opposes the DOMA repeal. GOProud opposes partnership inclusion in UAFA.  That a really good gay rights agenda there so it just makes sense Choi would defend them, right?

Personally I think they are all bullshit.  I was actually holding judgement until I heard this interview and I will go on record as calling Choi a media whore right now.  Not even he could be so naive to believe that his presence will “change” anyone there.  And so everyone knows just to be fair I also have feel the same way about Choi going to receive an award from “The Task Force” aka NGLTF which had to rebrand because people were beginning to realize that Rea Carey and NGLTF do jack shit and messed up our entire fight for rights during Obama’s first two years in office by kissing ass and doing nothing.

For Dan Choi, who I once though was a LGBT hero to attend CPAC with a gay group that seems hell bent on hurting us and to accept an award from a group that at one time called him dangerous to cause is an insult to those of us who once believed in him and proves that the INTEGRITY that he once had is gone.

So fucking pathetic.

Alex Nicholson Executive Director Of Servicemembers United: The Human Rights Campaign KNEW The White House Was NOT Committed To Repeal DADT This Year!

Alex Nicholson, founder of Servicemembers United breaking his silence about the Human Rights Campaign, which SU works closely with to battle DADT.

Nicholson confirmed that he attended a February 1 meeting at the White House which the Human Rights Campaign attended, and his group has been closely tied to HRC. The larger and more outspoken and vocally critical LGBT lobbying group on the issue, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (whose executive director, Aubrey Sarvis, has been critical of the president’s foot-dragging), was not invited to that meeting, a fact that was revealed during our LGBT Leadership Town Hall last month
.
Nicholson confirmed that the White House’s and Secretary Gates’ message are one in the same, in terms of wanting to put off repeal until the DOD study is done and not wanting to include repeal in the Defense Authorization Bill. A lot of controversy had surrounded HRC regarding what was said to HRC and others in that Feb 1 meeting. Rather than sounding the alarm that the White House was not committed to repeal this year, HRC came out of that meeting still defending the president and confident that repeal would happen. HRC downplayed what was said at that meeting after it was reported on in April.Nicholson, however, said the outcome of the meeting should have been cause for alarm, that the White House has indicated,including at that February 1 meeting, it would be a “passive” supporter of repeal this year:

“I’ll say, honestly, first of all, that I don’t think HRC has not done everything they could to put pressure the WH. I believe there are some there who believe they have done everything they can…I think there are others who may have other agendas and professional careers and things like that to worry about. I have been begging HRC to scale up their operations on don’t ask, don’t tell since early last summer…Realistically, I do think there was more they could do earlier this year, and I think there was more they could do last year…I would have loved to have seen the ramping up going on a year ago. You can’t build the infrastructure…in a matter of two months…That needed to happen last summer.”

So there we have it.  Concrete proof and confirmation from someone on the inside that HRC is a bunch of liars with an agenda.  And that agenda.  Get your money and keep thier jobs as long as possible.

After all.  if we get equality, they are out of business.
