Ronald L’Heureux, a co-founder of the Faith Alliance to Preserve the Sanctity of Marriage as Defined by God, (now that’s a mouthful) in a last ditch effort, brought a petition and complaint to the court on Tuesday morning and sought a temporary restraining order to stop the law from allowing same sex marriages to take place today from taking effect. Judge Daniel A. Procaccini denied the request, saying L’Heureux had fallen “far short” of the criteria needed to obtain a temporary restraining order, said court spokesman Craig Berke.
Procaccini scheduled a preliminary hearing for Aug. 9.
L’Heureux’s complaint, which names Governor Chafee, state Department of Health Director Michael Fine and 75 state lawmakers who voted for same-sex marriage as defendants, argues that legalizing same-sex marriage will violate religious freedoms guaranteed by the state Constitution, forcing people to accept, in public spheres such as schools, a practice that they oppose based on their faith.
“It violates the Constitution and causes irreparable harm, and once it passes they’re going to teach my children and grandchildren conduct that’s reprehensible to my faith,” said L’Heureux, who represented himself in court.
Ray Sullivan, campaign director of Marriage Equality Rhode Island, which led the effort to pass same-sex marriage, said the lawsuit “was expected, and the judge’s decision came as little surprise.”
Really though. “Faith Alliance to Preserve the Sanctity of Marriage as Defined by God”
How about renaming it “Faith Alliance of God to Preserve Marriage Sanctity “
Let the joyous news be spread. The hateful NOM Tour is at last is dead!
Well The National Organization For Marriage’s “One Man, One Woman” Summer of Marriage HATE-APOLOOZA started out with a whimper, and ended with a whimper when a whopping 47 of thier supporters showed up for the “HUGE RALLY” stop in Washington, DC
About 10 minutyes after the 2:00pm EST start time passed Brian Brown took to the stage to announce that the event will begin in 10 minutes. “Another bus is on the way,” Brown said About ten minutes later another stream of about 18 NOM supporters approached with red and white signs reading “Let the People Vote.” (Must have been one of those small “Special Buses”.
After that it was the typical NOM bullshit. Hateful idot Bishop Harry Jackson spoke, Alveda King was paid to speak, some other rightwing loons sermonized. Blah, blah, fucking blah.
NOM Tour Tracker reports that MON’s HATE-APOLOOZA Stop in Madison, WI is the most MASSIVE FAIL to date as only 54 NOM supporters showed up, (To be honest that IS their biggest turnout of supporters to date) but over 466 Gay Marriage Equality supporters countered!
Well the early numbers are in via Prop 8’s NOM Tracker and once again NOM’s HATE-APOLOOZA “One Man, One Woman” Anti-Gay Marriage Hate Tour is once again a HUGE FREAKIN BUST at it’s Indiannapolis, IN stop!’
Arisha Michelle Hatch reports that she has hand-counted 29 non-NOM staffers attending the rallyand that about 95 marriage equality supporters marched in to the event to counter-protest NOM on a sidewalk across from the event and that Bil Browning, Indiana resident and Bilerico Project founder, is at the event getting footage from the rally as well.
I am sure there will be more pics and video to follow.

I actually would have thought that The National Organization For Marriages Anti-Gay HATE-APOLOOZA “One Man, One Woman” Marriage Tour would have picked up some steam in the Midwest but according to OnTop Magazine and The Courage Campaigns NOM Tracker both stiops on Friday and Saturday respectively were a BIG OLE BUST! With only about 20 people showing up (incuding NOM staff) at each stop and protestors out numbering supporters. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.
Maggie “Moooooo-gie” Gallagher has taken over this leg of tour for Bryan “Buttboy” Brown who according to Maggie might be in California. (Or might be in the bushes behind a reststop somewhere in rural Ohio maybe?)
In Lima. OH Maggie tried to flip the script which seems to be NOM’s new tactic and had the nerve to called gay marriage supporters haters. And in Columbus, Maggie moooooooed “I have a message for our good friends who don’t agree with us – a few of them are gathered out there on the other side – hate is not a family value.”
Oh how original. Get your own material bitch!
The Courage Campaign has has some great footage oif Maggie Gallagher, who claims she doesn’t know what the NOM Tour Tracker is — after all, she’s “not a big blogger” — and repeats that she’s “not Brian’s keeper.” , footage of the counter-protest in Columbus, Oh and an interview with Erin and Michelle, a lesbian couple that approached the rally and were stopped by a police officer.
NOM rolls into Indiannapolis, IN on Monday. I suspect the crowds will be bigger because the joined up with the haters at the Indianna Family Institute. But if Indianna is BUST. NOM might as well wrap it up and head home.
When NOM comes rolling into Indiannapolis, IN Monday, July 26th it will be bringing out its prized heifer, “big guns, NOM’s EX- President and now Chairman Maggie Gallagher and Curt Smith, President of the Indiana Family Institute.
NOM is obviously playing to its base. I have been follwing the email alerts from anti-gay groups across the Midwest for the past two weeks and they have been pushing for large attendance at the Midwestern events. Obviously NOM knew that it would not play well in the Northeast and has scheduled about half its stops in Ohio, Indianna, Minnestota, and Iowa.
It is IMPORTANT that we make a strong showing at each of these events.
So calling all LGBT and Straight Friendly allies in the Indianapolis Area. PLEASE attend and help counter the Indianapolis NOM STOP. The Midwest is thier foothold. If we don’t stanbd up here then they win.

Less than 50 people bothered to come to NOM’s “One Man, One Woman” HATE-APOLOOZA stop in Trenton, NJ yesterday where members of Garden State Equality out numbered the NOMBIES and while there was no shouting the mesage was heard loud and clear that The Garden State wasn’t going to listen to haters like Brian Brown and cultist followers.
Watch below as Jay Lassiter of Blue Jersey chimes in on NOM and what happened inside the State House while the NOM protest happened outside.
And last but not least NOM has created and posted on it’s hateful blog a propaganda FAKE NEWS REPORT concerning the events in Providence R.I this weekend when “Protestors stormed the podium. threatened young children.and the police stooding by and did nothing!”
Oh and that “hispanic woman” they are talking about who was threatened by protestors standing in front of her better make sure that her immigration papers are in the correct order because who do you think the type of people who follow NOM is coming after next you moronic bitch.
Last November when Barack Obama chose instead of lobbying his millions of supporters to help keep Maine’s gay marriage law alive, he was asking everyone to support New Jersey’s (since un-elected) Gov. Jon Corzine’s campaign. But now we find out that two days later, who was he inviting over for a movie date? Rea Carey, the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and her partner Margaret Conway. Maybe this is a Gay Inc. leader’s reward for not once lobbying your own supporters to try to get the White House involved in Maine’s marriage battle, and not even mentioning the president’s name in your day-after-the-loss press release about how gay Mainers could’ve benefited from an Obama assist.
Every day it becomes clearer and clearer that there is a huge disconnect between the politically affiliated gays and the rest of us on the street and that Rea Carey of the NGLTF, Joe Solmonese of HRC and the rest of Gay Inc. have NO incentive to make actual progress. And that their true incentive is to continue the “struggle” so they can continue to receive their salaries and expense accounts
The New Hampshire House of Representatives has rejected CACR 28 which defined marriage in that state by saying it can only be between a man and a woman. It was rejected by a wide margin, 201-135, short of a simple majority and far below the three-fifths majority — 238 votes — it needed to advance to the Senate. Sponsors tried to delay a vote on the bill until March 17, so local voters could weigh in on petitions at town meeting that ask for a popular vote on the amendment. “All we’re trying to do here is put this on the ballot,” Rep. David Bates, R-Windham, (Bates = jerkoff you know.) arguing voters should have their say. His effort to delay a vote fell short on a 191-148 vote. The House also rejected another bill, HB 1590, by a vote of 210-109 which would have repealed the state’s marriage equality law.
