NPR Gives Platform To FRC’s Peter Sprigg To Peddle Anti-Gay Lies and Propaganda On Radio Show

Peter Sprigg FRC Hate Group

On the December 10th. edition of National Public Radio’s The Diane Rehm Show, guest host Melissa Ross interviewed Peter Sprigg, at the Family Research Council (FRC) to discuss legal battles over parenting and adoption rights for same-sex couples.

PETER SPRIGG:  I think that certainly there is abundant reason to believe that children do best when raised by a married mother and father. And within the context of foster care the judge has an obligation to do what’s in the best interest of the child. And he exercised that discretion.

MELISSA ROSS: And what research does the Family Research Council cite to buttress the claim that a child is better off with a heterosexual couple?

SPRIGG: Well, there’s an abundance of research showing that children do better overall when raised by their own married biological father who are committed to one another in a life-long marriage. There are just reams of research showing that. Now this is a slightly different situation because of the fact that you’re dealing with a situation where they are being removed from their biological parents. But we think that there is evidence to suggest that children would do better with a mother and father even if it’s not their biological parents.

Sprigg cited a widely discredited Mark Regnerus paper to suggest that children raised by same-sex couples perform poorly, and resurrected the long debunked horror story that Catholic adoption agencies have been shut down for refusing to allow same-sex couples without guest host Melissa Ross pushing back on any of his bogus talking points or Ross mentioning that The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed the FRC as an anti-gay hate group since 2010 due to the organization’s exposed lies and falsehoods about LGBT people and their constant battle of LGBT equality in any form.

Ross the host and producer of Jacksonville, Florida’s WJCT (89.9 FM) call-in radio program “First Coast Connect.” sat their passively and gave Sprigg an open platform to spread his hate-groups propaganda without any pushback.  Luckily fellow guest Emily Hetch-McGowan, Director of Public Policy the Family Equality Council, called out FRC’s use of the much discredited research while Ross sat there doing nothing.

Vatican’s Colloqium On Marriage Proves Catholic Church As Anti-Gay As Ever (With Videos By Mark Regnerus!)

Evil Prayers

Monday began the Vatican’s  three-day “Complementarity of Man and Woman” –  Humanum conference included global faith leaders including t U.S. evangelical pastors Rick Warren and Russell Moore, former Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom Jonathan Sacks and Anglican, Muslim, Pentecostal and Hindu leaders. In addition for the first time, a top Mormon leader – Henry Eyring – was also in official attendance at a Vatican conference.

But , what many major news outlets aren’t reporting is that anti-gay hate group leaders like Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Brian Brown and Maggie Gallagher were also invited and in attendance.  And if that’s not enough to tip you off at how anti-gay this Vatican Confrence was set up to be even before it began Mark Regnerus of the infamously shoddy  anti-gay parenting study that has been discredited and openly mocked every legal proceeding against anti-gay marriage  was actually hired to film anti-gay videos that were shown at the Vatican conference that has been going on for the past three days!

Zach Ford of Think Progress reports on the Humanum

The messages of Humanum have sounded mostly like excerpts from Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, asserting various archaic gender stereotypes as evidence that men and women are uniquely designed to be together — and that no other relationship should ever be considered a marriage. For example, Russell Moore, media-savvy head of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, told the conference that spouses are not interchangeable. “We are not created as ‘spouse A’ and ‘spouse B,’” he insisted, “but as man and as woman, and in marriage as husband and as wife, in parenting as mother and as father.Masculinity and femininity are not aspects of the fallen order to be overcome, but are instead part of what God declared from the beginning to be ‘very good.’”

Even in his remarks opening the conference, Pope Francis alluded to the “unique” way that men and women define marriage when he prayed that the colloquium “will be an inspiration to all who seek to support and strengthen the union of man and woman in marriage as a unique, natural, fundamental and beautiful good for persons, communities, and whole societies.” [snip] The colloquium has been fairly lacking in substance, which was particularly evident when Pastor Rick Warren spoke. He spent the first few minutes of his remarks “not kidding” about how all of the points he originally intended to make had already been made by other speakers. Warren still found plenty to say, including the idea that the sexual revolution, including same-sex marriage, is merely “in style” and all styles go out of style.”Every lie eventually crumbles under its own deception,” he said, “but the Word of God and the Church of God continues.”

So there you have it.  The new Pope is not any less anti-gay than the last Pope, perhaps even more so for inviting such an evil group of anti-gay bigots to the Vatican to discuss marriage.

If you are gay or a lesbian and still a practicing Catholic the question you must ask yourself is: Why?  The outlook of the Catholic Church’s opinions and attitudes on gay and lesbians are never going to change.  Why belong to and enable a religion that wants to harm you and your friends.  Take a stand and make a point.  Lever the Catholic Church, publicly denounce them.  The loss of members and money is the only thing that will ever cause the Vatican to change on this issue.

Mark Regnerus Makes Up New “Study”: Gay Men Are Sex Crazed Sluts. *Gasp!*

Mark Regnerus

Discredited, denounced, debunked, deranged anti-gay “researcher” Mark Regnerus is making up fake studies again.

This time writing for  Public Discourse

Churchgoers who oppose same-sex marriage sense that they are out of step with the rest of the nation about sex and relationships. (The numbers above reinforce that.) And Christians who favor legalizing same-sex marriage often remain embattled with those who oppose it, and yet sense that their own views on sexuality still lag behind those gay and lesbian Christians from whom they’ve have become convinced of the legitimacy of same-sex marriage. That, too, is true. Gay and lesbian Christians, in turn, have much in common with gay and lesbian non-Christians—their social circles often overlap. The sexual norms of the former are not as permissive as those of the latter but are still well above the national average in permissiveness. The latter likely constitutes a reference group for gay and lesbian Christians (together with heterosexual Christians with whom they are in fellowship). Given the rather massive divide in attitudes about sexual and romantic relationships evidenced in the table above, reference group theory—if employed here—would suggest that the current division between these groups of churchgoing Christians will remain far into the future. Even if a share of American Christians who presently oppose same-sex marriage track in more liberal directions—and it would be shrewd to presume that this will occur—those Christians who already support same-sex marriage are themselves still tracking in that same direction. And, from the looks of it, they have plenty of territory to cover yet.

Shocking…!!!!

Gay and Lesbian adults have a healthy and mature attitude about sex.

Blithering bigoted idiots have an unhealthy, shameful and immature attitude about sex.

CONCLUSION: Mark Regnerus spends a lot of time thinking about gay butt sex.

Maggie Gallagher Trashes Positive Gay Parenting Study While NOM Pushes The Debunked Regnerus One

Maggie Gallagher  of the National Organization for Marriage (and lets be truthful she does work for them and has never stopped) took to the pages of the National Review trash an An Australian study” from the University of Melbourne which found that  the children of same-sex parents scored higher on measures of health, happiness and family cohesion than the of those in the “traditional family” general population that was reported by the New York Times:

Wrote Gallagher:

The New York Times  study and the media are widely reporting the results of a new study of 500 children raised by same-sex couples. Researchers are aghast that such a shoddy piece of work, which is based on a convenience sample of parents who volunteered to be surveyed, and which relies solely on these parents’ reports to determine child well-being, should have been published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal. The author is facing a petition and statement signed by hundreds of reputable academics, questioning his moral character and scientific integrity, and the editor of the journal who published such a thing faces similar attacks and enquiries about whether the peer-review process was compromised. Oh wait, the study shows children of same-sex parents do better than the average child, after adjusting for income. Never mind.” – National Organization for Marriage’s Minister of Propaganda Maggie Gallagher

Actually Gallagher is lying in her statement the “authors” of the survey are not “facing a petition and statement signed by hundreds of reputable academics, questioning his moral character and scientific integrity”.

But speaking of those who have been called out on “moral character and scientific integrity”;  Mark Regnerus whose bought and paid for anti-gay parenting study which has been laughed at, debunked, ridiculed and even eviscerated by a Michigan judge back in March, is still being used and cited  this time by theLiberty Counsel’s in one of it’s  amicus brief’s in a Florida’s marriage cases.

And of course NOM took the opportunity to continue to continue pushing Regnerus’ discredited study:

The study (Regnerus’s) showed that there are “consistent differences among young adults who reported maternal lesbian behavior (and to a lesser extent, paternal gay behavior) prior to age 18.” Compared with children raised by their married biological parents, children raised in same-sex households are much more likely to have received welfare growing up, have lower educational attainment, report less safety and security in their family of origin, report more ongoing “negative impact” from their family of origin, are more likely to suffer from depression, and have been arrested more often. The study also showed that children of lesbian mothers are almost 4 times more likely to be currently on public assistance than children raised by their biological parents. Regnerus’s study shows clearly that the ideal home for a child is with his or her mother and father.

Well, they paid for the study. It’s not surprising they try to use it till its in total shreds.

Judge That Struck Down Michigan’s Same Sex Marriage Ban Calls Mark Regnerus A Hack

Mark Regnerus

U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman (appointed to the federal bench in 1988 by Republican demon President Ronald Reagan) who this weekend  struck down the state of Michigan’s marriage discrimination amendment as unconstitutional had some choice words for “expert witness” Mark Regnerus

Friedman slams Regnerus in his ruling going so far as to use quotation marks around the word “study” when referring to Regnerus’s right-wing-funded, discredited New Family Structures Study that claimed same-sex couples make inferior parents:

The court finds Regnerus’s testimony entirely unbelievable and not worthy of serious consideration. The evidence adduced at trial demonstrated that his 2012 ‘study’ was hastily concocted at the behest of a third-party funder, which found it ‘essential that the necessary data be gathered to settle the question in the forum of public debate about what kinds of family arrangement are best for society’ and which ‘was confident that the traditional understanding of marriage will be vindicated by this study.'”…

While Regnerus maintained that the funding source did not affect his impartiality as a researcher, the Court finds this testimony unbelievable. The funder clearly wanted a certain result, and Regnerus obliged.

Whatever Regnerus may have found in this ‘study,’ he certainly cannot purport to have undertaken a scholarly research effort to compare the outcomes of children raised by same-sex couples with those of children raised by heterosexual couples. It is no wonder that the NFSS has been widely and severely criticized by other scholars, and that Regnerus’s own sociology department at the University of Texas has distanced itself from the NFSS in particular and Dr. Regnerus’s views in general.” – U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman

That sound you hear is the final “flush” of any further “expert testimony” and any possible legitimate research career for Mark Regnerus

University Of Texas at Austin FINALLY Denounces Anti-Gay Researcher Mark Regnerus

Mark Regnerus

The University of Texas at Austin has finally come to their senses and yesterday published a public statement denouncing their own employee, Mark Regnerus, who’s past anti-gay slanted research has been exposed as bought and paid for by ultra right wing religious groups and who is presently testifying against same-sex marriage in Michigan.

Like all faculty, Dr. Regnerus has the right to pursue his areas of research and express his point of view.  However, Dr. Regnerus’ opinions are his own. They do not reflect the views of the Sociology Department of The University of Texas at Austin.  Nor do they reflect the views of the American Sociological Association, which takes the position that the conclusions he draws from his study of gay parenting are fundamentally flawed on conceptual and methodological grounds and that findings from Dr. Regnerus’ work have been cited inappropriately in efforts to diminish the civil rights and legitimacy of LBGTQ partners and their families.  We encourage society as a whole to evaluate his claims.

The Sociology Department at The University of Texas at Austin aspires to achieve academic excellence in research, teaching, and public service at the highest level in our discipline. We strive to do so in a context that is based on the highest ethical standards of our discipline and in a context that actively promotes and supports diversity among our faculty and student populations.”

The above statement from U of T at Austin was read today in court to rightfully discredit Regnerus as an “expert” witness.

Utah Files Same Sex Marriage Stay Appeal To Supreme Court, Cites Debunked Regnerus Study

Utah stay

In papers filed Tuesday with Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the state asked the Supreme Court Justice to overturn court decisions to let the marriages go forward.  Sotomayor handles emergency requests from Utah and other Rocky Mountain states. She can act by herself or get the rest of the court involved. Nearly two-thirds of Utah’s 2.8 million residents are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Mormons dominate the state’s legal and political circles. U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby’s decision on Dec. 20 came as a shock to many in the state, which approved the ban on same-sex marriage in 2004. Since the judge’s decision, more than 900 gay couples in Utah have gotten marriage licenses. Shelby and the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals have already refused to halt weddings while the state appeals.

The Utah Attorney General’s office cited the controversial and debunked  “study,” funded by the Mormon backed National Organizaton of Marriage and private anti-gay conservative think tanks written by Mark Regnerus, associate professor of sociology at University of Texas Austin’s Population Research Center in it’s filings

Court Rules In Favor of LGBT Journalist – UCF Must Turn Over All Mark Regnerus Study Records

John Becker

In a lawsuit broght forth by LGBT journalist and activist John Becker (pictured above) of the Bilerico Project a Florida state court judge has ruled that the University of Central Florida must turn over all records related to the publication of the debunked 2012 study conducted by Mark Regnerus that demonizes gay and lesbian parents. Regnerus’ research has been called into legal question not merely for its questionable results, but also because the study was underwritten and backed by the Witherspoon Institute, and other anti-gay organizations.

In the opinion, Orange County Circuit Judge Donald Grincewicz ruled that emails and documents possessed by University of Central Florida (UCF) related to the flawed study’s peer-review process must be turned over to Becker, who sought the documents under Florida’s Public Records Act. UCF houses the journal Social Science Research, which published the Regnerus study, and the editor of the journal, UCF Professor James Wright, led the peer-review process for the research. Becker is represented by the Law Office of Andrea Flynn Mogensen, P.A., and Barrett, Chapman & Ruta, P.A.

Over two hundred scholars as well as the American Sociological Association were quick to point out the study’s glaring lies and biases. These problems also included conflicts of interest among individuals and organizations who were both funding and working on the study, as well as a questionable peer review process.

Regnerus’ “research” has been widely used by opponents of a marriage  and LGBT equality into law. And Regnerus’ phoney research and bogus anti-gay findings has been most damaging in Russia – where it has been used as evidence for the heinous legislation that criminalized “homosexual propaganda”

Mark Regnerus Is Upset That Anti-Gay Russians Are Using His Bogus Anti-Gay Parenting Study

Mark Regenerus

Now that  anti-gay Russian lawmakers are citing University of Texas sociopath sociologist Mark Regnerus’s  bogus and anti-gay right wing backed study on gay parenting as reason to strip custody rights from gay parents, Regnerus is trying to backtrack and disassociate himself from the draconian Russian law by spinning a new “true meaning” of his widely discredited worked.

In an article in The Atlantic Regnerus writes:

“This may come as a surprise to those who have spent the past 15 months tagging my study as discredited or “debunked,” a silly and simplistic moniker given that the data is public and the analyses in the article are rather straightforward. Isn’t it hypocritical to blow the whistle on this use of the data while supporting other such uses, such as my own participation on an amici brief to the U.S. Supreme Court? No, it is not, because I oppose same-sex marriage and lawmaker Andrei Zhuravlyov’s draconian legislation for the same reason: every child has a mother and a father, and such kinship matters for kids. To be stably rooted in your married mother and father’s household is to foster the greatest chance at lifelong flourishing. It’s not necessary, of course. It just has the best odds.

Of course, such kinship ties are often broken, sometimes with intention (by mutual divorce, sperm donation, and some instances of surrogacy), sometimes by accident (as through the death of a parent), and sometimes by necessity (in the case of seeking protection from domestic violence), all through no fault of the child. A good society seeks to discourage broken kinship ties, and to struggle over how to manage those that are unavoidable. It does not respond by simply declaring biological bonds to be irrelevant or such brokenness only imagined.’

It’a a little late for Mark Regnerus to be backtracking his bought and paid for radical religious anti-gay right wing junk science piece of work in order to legitimize precisely the kind of hateful legislation that he meant it to be used for.  He only does so now because his discredited study is included in the fascist anti-gay Russian law that has been submitted to the Russian Duma and all the world can now see his homophobic hate destroys countless lives.

Bryan Fischer and the AFA Lose Their Bigoted Little Minds Over The Bert & Ernie New Yorker Cover

Bryan Fister Fischer and the American Family Association are going apeshit over the upcoming New Yorker cover which shows Sesame Streets Bert and Ernie snuggling on a couch watching the news about the Supreme Court striking down Article 3 of DOMA and Prop 8.

Fischer foams at the mouth while citing the debunked and discredited Mark Regnerus study quoting fake statistics and feinging moral outrage while spewing his bigoted bullshit claiming that the New Yorker is promoting child abuse.

“The tony, elitist New Yorker magazine, read by those who fancy themselves our moral and intellectual superiors, is in effect promoting child endangerment on the cover of its latest issue, and shamelessly using Bert and Ernie to do it.

The cover features the two muppets, who according to Sesame Street “have no sexual orientation,” cuddling romantically on a couch in a darkened room in front of a TV set picturing the Supreme Court, which of course has just issued a ruling overturning the federal definition of marriage as exclusively the union of one man and one woman.

This is shameless, using figures who are iconic to children to promote sexual deviancy. And worse, it is dangerous and irresponsible.

According to the most extensive research on the subject ever done, Mark Regnerus of the University of Texas concluded that adults who grow up in homosexual households fare worse on 77 of 80 outcomes compared to children raised in an intact biological family.

(For those who wish to discredit Regnerus, save your breath. UT’s research integrity officer investigated 8 charges against Regnerus’s research and found that “none of the allegations … were substantiated.”)

According to Regnerus’s findings, adults raised by homosexual parents are much more likely to be on welfare, to have lower educational attainment, to suffer from depression, to be arrested, and to have numerous sexual partners.

Adult children of lesbian mothers are particularly at risk. Compared to children raised by a mom and a dad married to each other, they are nearly four times as likely to have been physically forced to have sex against their will. They use marijuana more frequently, are more likely to have “attachment” problems as adults, and are an astonishing 10 times more likely to have been “touched sexually by a parent or other adult caregiver.”

Children of homosexual fathers are three times as likely to identify as something other than entirely heterosexual, while children of lesbian mothers are four times as likely. In other words, same sex environments have a devastating impact on a child’s sense of his own sexual identity which will create emotional, mental and physical problems for the remainder of their lives.

Even more shocking are the outcomes Regnerus found that relate to sexual abuse. A staggering 23% of adult children of lesbians reported having been sexually molested – unwanted sexual touching or worse – than children raised by a mom and a dad. Six percent of children raised by a homosexual father reported being the victims of sexual abuse, which is a rate 300% higher than among the children of married biological parents.

It is thus clear from the best in social research that being raised in a same-sex environment poses completely unacceptable risks to vulnerable young children.

By promoting same-sex marriage, and using Sesame Street to do it, the New Yorker staff in effect is promoting child abuse. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

Actually Regnerus’ “study” has been widely discredited in the mainstream academic and scientific communities including the  American Psychological Association (APA) and its been proven that Regnerus’ funders had an anti-gay agenda and the study itself was plagued by troubling conflicts of interest.

Also proven studies show that 100% of everything that comes out of Bryan Fischer’s mouth is bullshit.
