From left to right: Helena Bonham Carter (Dr Julia Hoffman, the psychiatrist…who also needs one), Chloe Moretz (Carolyn, a moody teen), Eva Green (Angelique, a witch who hates this family with a long history with Barnabas the vampire), Gulliver McGrath (David, a troubled boy who believes he sees the dead), Bella Heathcote (Victoria, the new governess), Depp (Barnabas the vampire… ancestor of this family), Ray Shirley (Mrs Johnson, the ancient maid), Jackie Earle Haley (Willie the shady groundskeeper), Jonny Lee Miller (Roger, David’s father), and Michelle Pfeiffer (Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the steely matriarch under seige by witches, family troubles, and the arrival of Barnabas).

In an interview with Patti Smith for the January edition of Vanity Fair magazine, actor Johnny Depp who created Capt. Jack Sparrow, the flamboyant character which he based on the Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, and helped turn the Pirates of the Caribbean films into a billion dollar franchise was initially unpopular with Disney because they thought that Depp portrayed the Capt. Jack character as being “gay”
Depp said Disney initially “couldn’t stand” his version of Sparrow, with one person asking if the character was gay. Depp told the Disney executive “all my characters are gay”, adding that “really made her nervous”.
Disney has some nerve. Even if Capt. Jack Sparrow was gay it wouldn’t be the first gay Disney Pirates. I mean just look at Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. They were so close you wopuld need a bucket of cold water and a crowbar to seperate them.
* Sacha Baron Cohen has closed a deal to play Queen front man Freddie Mercury in a film that’s being scripted by Peter Morgan for a 2011 production start. This is the first time the surviving members of Queen–Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon–have licensed songs and music publishing rights for a movie . Borat as Freddie? Well he does look like him.
