Back2Stonewall.com went live for the first time on December 12, 2008.

In the past 8 years we have tried to educate our readers by remembering our gay history and motivate them into action by reminding them that our future and equality relies on our continual fight until we archive our goal.

We have brought you the good news and bad news, the funny and the sad.  But we have done it with integrity and honesty without bowing to any group, organization, or agenda.

And while we may not have become as large as some other LGBT new sites and weblogs but we have stayed true to our independent roots and have made an impact to our cause and on our community beyond our wildest dreams. In the past 8 years Back2Stonewall has been referenced in such notable media venues as the BBC News, The Washington Post, MSNBC, The Daily Beast, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, VICE, Raw Story, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times proving that bigger is not always better.

It has been a wild 8 years and we thank you our readers for supporting us and helping us grow.

Will will continue to  connected to bring you truth and honesty in reporting and unlike other media sites we will not  bog you down with ads, sponsored posts, or paid agenda items from any LGBT groups.

Hillary Clinton Selects Openly Gay Man Robby Mook As Her 2016 Presidential Campaign Manager

Mother Jones reports that the Hillary Clinton has selected Robby Mook, a relatively unknown and openly gay man to be her 2016 Presidential campaign manager.

Mook is widely known as Robby, not Robert, and at 35, he’s still boyish—handsome and clean-shaven with close-cropped brown hair. His usual uniform consists of chinos and bland dress shirts rolled up to the elbows. He couldn’t be more different from, say, James Carville, the loudmouth Ragin’ Cajun who advised Bill Clinton’s first presidential bid and now makes a living as a consultant and TV commentator. Mook rarely appears in news stories or on TV. He did not respond to repeated interview requests. He has no Facebook page. He has a Twitter account but never tweets and has forgotten the password. Mook, who will be the first openly gay manager of a major presidential campaign, is largely unknown beyond the insular world of Democratic staffers but well liked within it. In addition to the email listserv, his loyal following—the Mook Mafia—plans yearly reunions, during which they return to a state where they once operated for a weekend of bar-hopping mixed with volunteering for a local campaign.

Todd Akin Is Anti-Woman AND Anti-Gay

Republican Senate Candidate for Missouri and current Republican Congressman, Todd Akin has made national headlines for his controversial statements at the Missouri KTVI-TV station Sunday about women’s rights.Akin made a completely ignorant statement about rape:

 “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” Akin said. “But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.”

But Akin has made uneducated and asinine regarding LGBT rights as well. This is what he had to say about the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell as repealing the archaic measure was an attempt from Democrats to pus a “social agenda”

“The president has repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and he’s now using the military as campaign props to advance the gay agenda. My sons and our sons and daughters didn’t volunteer to be part of some political agenda; they volunteered to protect our freedom in America.”

Oh wait, there’s more. Akin also has made negative comments about gay marriage:

“From a practical point of view, to preserve our civilization and society, it’s important for us to preserve marriage–Anybody who knows something about the history of the human race knows that there is no civilization which has condoned homosexual marriage widely and openly that has long survived.”

Akin has also voted for DOMA (Defensive of Marraaige Act) including a measure he attempted to push last year that would prevent military chaplins and other religious officials from marrying same-sex couples as well as prohibiting same-sex marriages of any kind from being performed on military bases and facilities. Akin also voted twice for the Federal Marriage Amendment that wanted to define marriage while voting against EDNA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act) .

President for the Human Rights Campaign Chad Griffin released a statement on Akin’s view about LGBT rights:

“He’s against any kind of relationship recognition for same-sex couples; he’s made remarks that are demeaning to LGBT families; he voted against the historic repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and he refuses to support workplace protections. Todd Akin is no friend to anyone who has experienced discrimination and is looking to their elected officials to protect their rights under the law.”

Many politicians  have publicly spoken out and denounced Akin’s response on rape from both party lines. Jerame Davis of the Stonewall Democrats said that Akin should “resign from office with all due haste.” Republican Senator John Cornyn of Texas even commented that Akin’s statement is  “wrong, offensive and indefensible”. Even the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee has withdraewn the 5 million dollars set aside to help Akin’s campaign for election.

Proof That Same-Sex Parenting Does Not Harm A Child

Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in 2009 when the state’s supreme court  unanimously ruled that a statutory ban on same-sex marriage was  unconstitutional. However, since then religious conservatives, many of them not based in Iowa have acquired backing from the state’s Republican leadership and successfully led the public to unseat three of the justices who they say legislated from the bench to create a “new” right to marriage  equality. Statistics indicate that if Iowans were to vote on an amendment to marriage equality in the near future the amendment would almost certainly be approved. Stop Russia from making it illegal to even talk about homosexuality

I just added my voice to this urgent appeal, standing for human rights in Russia and all over the world. Medvedev and Putin’s party is pushing a law to vote this week that would make any mention of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender issues illegal. Will you take one minute to add yours?

The bill, being introduced as early as this Wednesday, would criminalize any book, article or speech about sexual identity and gender orientation, labeling it “homosexual propaganda”. This is outrageous, and now is the time for key world leaders to speak up, we need every voice.

This is not just about defending gay rights but defending fundamental human rights – the right to freedom, to free speech, to democracy.
Just when we think that the world is making progress on LGBTU+ issues, a supposedly ‘developed’ country slaps us all round the face with a decision like this.

Political leaders in St. Petersburg are about to vote on law that will make it illegal for any person to write a book, publish an article or speak in public about being gay, lesbian or transgender.  The ruling party led by President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin could make millions of people invisible with the stroke of a pen.

Human rights defenders around the country are doing everything they can to stop it.  They are risking their freedom to organize flashmobs and protests, but they are afraid that it won’t be enough.  Courageous pride marchers were brutally attacked and detained by Moscow police last summer – for the simple act of holding their heads up high in public. If this bill passes, even the small victories that the LGBT movement in Russia has won will be wiped out – and pride marches, cultural festivals, and even the distribution of leaflets in the streets will be considered illegal.

Right now, the world needs to speak up and tell Russian authorities to drop the bill. Join this call to leaders around the world to reach out to their counterparts in the Russian government – and ask them to reject this discriminatory and anti-democratic law.

Even Before The Ink Dries John McCain Working With FRC Hate Group To Roll Back DADT Repeal in 2011

The recogninzed hate group The Family Research Council is working overtime to attempt to get the DADT Repeal Act of 2010 overthrown een before the ink dries on it.

In the FRC’s holiday update letter Tony Perkins, proud President of the heinous hate group claims that it is working closely with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and others to stop the full repeal from being implemented.

As for FRC, who will take great pleasure in seeing this lame-duck finally limp out of town, we’ll be spending the next couple of weeks reassessing the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ debate. In fact, I’ve already been in conversations with Hill leaders about holding hearings in the New Year, as well as statutory and legislative oversight steps that can be taken to turn back aspects of the repeal and slow down–if not stop–the rest. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and others will be working with FRC to put a strict evaluation process in place. We want to ensure that the Pentagon is monitoring the effect of this radical change on the men and women in harm’s way. One way to do that is demanding specific measurables–like tracking the sexual assaults, dips in recruitment and retention, combat distractions, and more. If there’s the slightest disruption to the military’s mission, you can bet that FRC will be on the Hill, demanding to revisit this repeal. And unlike the Senate Majority Leader, we won’t consult Lady Gaga first.”

And yes oif course the FRC Hate Group which is STILL a 501c Tax Exempt and supposed to not be involved in political endevors ended their bigoted missive with a plea for donations.

Harry Reid Rips Into John McCain Over DADT

Seante Majority Leader Harry Reid  ripped into this century’s Grandpa Munster aka Sen. John McCain on Saturday, saying basically McCain is full of BULLSHIT and comparing him to Lucy from Peanuts!  LOL!

“First, Sen. McCain said he would seriously consider repealing it if the military leadership thought we should, and [when] the military leadership said it should be repealed, he pulled away the football. Then Sen. McCain said he would need to see a study from the Pentagon. When the Pentagon produced the study saying repeal would have no negative effect at all, he pulled away the football again,”

“And his latest trick, he said yesterday that he opposed repealing ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ a proposal that would be a great stride forward for both equality and military readiness … because of the economy, I repeat, the senior senator from Arizona said he couldn’t support repealing ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ because of the economy.

I have no idea what he’s talking about and no one else does either.”

McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan responded in an e-mail: “Perhaps someone should inform the majority leader the election is over.” Which is the McCain’s camp version of “I know you are but what am I?”

The Wonk Room: “Significantly, all of the leaders in front of the commission — Mullen, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, and Working Group chairmen Defense Department General Counsel Jeh C. Johnson and Army Gen. Carter F. Ham — disagreed with McCain’s approach of polling the troops about the policy. ‘I can’t think of a single precedent in American history of doing a referendum of the american armed forces on a policy issue,’ Gates said, asking, ‘are you going to ask them if they want 15 month tours, are you going to ask them if they want to be part of the surge in Iraq?’ McCain didn’t name a single ‘great leader’ who favored a referendum.”

McCain, the Song Bird, which his captors nicked named him, because he sold out his fellow service men by telling information and using his father’s military rank (Admiral of the fleet) during the Vietnam war.

McCain, REEKS of homophobia, bigotry and sour grapes, because he thought he had the White House. This fool needs to be removed from The Armed Sevices Commitee and from Congress.

Hopefully there wil be a special place in HELL for John McCain.

Supreme Court Judge Scalia: The 14th Amendment Should Not Apply To Homosexuals or Women!

Speaking last Friday at the University of Richmond, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who was nominated to the Court by Ronald Regan (May he be rotting in hell) denounced the concept of a “living Constitution” and said the 14th Amendment was not written with the intent of granting equal protection to ALL Americans. Just the straight heterosexual males.

“The due process clause has been distorted so it’s no longer a guarantee of process but a guarantee of liberty,” Scalia expounded. “But some of the liberties the Supreme Court has found to be protected by that word – liberty – nobody thought constituted a liberty when the 14th Amendment was adopted. Homosexual sodomy? It was criminal in all the states. Abortion? It was criminal in all the states.” “The way to change the Constitution is through amendments approved by the people, not by judges altering the meaning of its words,” he added.

This isn’t the first time that Scalia has made comments lie this. Speaking at a  San Francisco law school he once said that the Constitution offers no protection whatsoever to homosexuals or females.

Perhaps Scalia should be booted from The Supreme Court because he obviously can’t read.  The 14th Amendment states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person “

Scalia is 74 years old  the longest-serving Supreme Court Justice, and is thought to be in relatively good health (DAMMIT!) and most court watchers expect him to remain on the bench for as long another decade.
