The National Rifle Association filed a federal lawsuit this afternoon against the state to block a law that had just been signed by Gov. Rick Scott that prohibits gun sales to anyone between the ages of 18 and 21.
“We filed a lawsuit against the state for violating the constitutional rights of 18 to 21 year olds,” said Marion Hammer, lobbyist for the NRA in Florida. NRA lawyers in Tallahassee and Washington D.C. were working on the complaint this afternoon, and filed the complaint moments before the court’s deadline.
It was also filed more than an hour after Scott signed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act into law. The lawsuit names Attorney General Pam Bondi and Rick Swearingen of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. On related blog about law, checkout florida car accident attorney
Fascist Neo-Nazi leader (who claims he’s not a Neo-Nazi) Richard Spencer sporting a Hitler youth haircut was cold-cocked by a protester at an anti-Trump demonstration that he crashed near the inaugural parade route as he and was explaining his Pepe the frog button to the camera
Last November, Spencer recited Nazi propaganda in German, before declaring “Hail Trump! Hail victory!” at a white supremacist event at the National Press Club in Washington DC.

Over 1,500 anti-gay extremists fought with riot police today in the country of as authorities struggled to protect the participants in the first gay pride event ever held in the nation’s capital. None of parade’s 150 participants were injured or arrested but reports suggest that about 20 police officers and 40 extremists were injured during the skirmish. Sixty of the rioters were arrested, some of whom were reportedly carrying Molotov cocktails.
The march, guarded by almost 2,000 police officers, took place on Sunday afternoon in Podgorica, the capital of the staunchly conservative Balkan state. The violence occurred when the attackers tried to push through cordons of hundreds of police. Such pride marches are seen as a test of Montenegro’s commitment to human rights as it seeks to join the European Union. The half-hour walk through the centre of Podgorica was the second attempt to hold a gay pride march in Montenegro, a mountainous country of 680,000 people which began EU accession talks last year. Gay rights opponents attacked a similar march in July in the coastal town of Budva. This time streets were cordoned off and uniformed policemen were deployed on the roofs of nearby buildings while a police chopper hovered above the scene. March organiser Danijel Kalezic says the protection allowed about gay activists to walk peacefully through the city of Podgorica.
You have to o hand it to admire our LGBT brethren for their bravery in standing up to this ignorance. Courage personified.
Police clashed with hundreds of hooded anti-gay extremist in Montenegro on Wednesday as they tried to disrupt the first gay pride parade to be held in the conservative Balkan country that is in talks to join the European Union.
Several hundred extremists shouting “Kill the gays” attacked gay activists and clashed with police on Wednesday in a bid to disrupt the first ever pride event in staunchly conservative Montenegro, which is seeking to improve its human rights record as it bids to join the European Union.
Angry assailants threw rocks, bottles, glasses and various other objects — including chairs from local cafes — at several dozen flag-waving gay activists who shouted back “Kiss the gays.” A shower of stones and bottles also landed on special police securing the gathering in the coastal town of Budva.
Police then intervened to push the attackers away and allow the event to continue. The participants briefly marched by the sea before they stopped to hold speeches as extremists shouted insults from a distance. Later, police again clashed with smaller groups of extremists scattered throughout the town.
Montenegro, began EU accession talks last year, hoping to be the next in line for membership after Croatia but before joining, it must demonstrate readiness to protect human rights.
In this is ridiculous news, a lesbian couple, Ariel and Shawnee McPhail, received a letter from the owner of a restaurant condemning their sexuality after dining out in New Bern, North Carolina last month. And to add insult, the owner of said restaurant Ed McGovern, waited until after the couple had eaten their meal at The Stingray Cafe and paid for their bill. So he obviously didn’t have a problem accepting their money but still felt compelled to condemn their lifestyle? Anyway, here’s the letter in it’s entirety:
“God said in the last days that man and wom[a]n would be lover of self, more [than] the lover of God.
That man and woman would have unnatural [affection] for one another. Then, the coming of the Son of Man, who is Jesus. So please, look at your life. See how it hurt[s] everyone around you. And ask the Lord to open your eye[s] before it [is] to[o] late.
The Love of Christ
P.S. my daughter also was gay. It destroy[ed] her life and my grandson.”
Rightfully disturbed by the incident, Shawnee McPhail had this to say in response to the unwarranted insult to her family:
“First of all, we didn’t kiss. We don’t kiss in public. We were holding hands. Secondly, if I did kiss my wife in public, what married couple would you go to and say, ‘how dare you. You cannot hold hands and you cannot kiss in public therefore you deserve my judgement.'”
No word yet on whether the couple plans on taking legal action for harassment but if they do then I would’t blame them. I don’t know if it was the fact that McGovern may or may not have a lesbian daughter or that was made up but his customers don’t really need to know or care what he thinks is appropriate. He’s there provide a service not his messy commentary about God’s law so zip it McGovern. Nobody asked you.
