Ugandan MP Medard Segona has told the BBC that “substantial amendments” had been made to Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill and it will no longer include the death penalty after scrutiny by a parliamentary committee but will still presents an array of draconian punishments including life imprisonment and has been approved by Uganda’s Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.
Earlier this month, Rebecca Kadaga, speaker of the Ugandan parliament, promised to bring a vote on the proposed law before Christmas.
In its original form, those convicted of “aggravated homosexuality” – defined as when one of the participants is a minor, HIV positive, disabled or a “serial offender” – could have been sentenced to death.
The “Kill The Gays Bill” was first introduced in 2009 by MP David Bahati shortly after a workshop took place in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, that featured three American radical evangelical Christian extremist: Scott Lively, Caleb Lee Brundidge, and Don Schmierer, a board member of Exodus International, an organisation devoted to promoting “freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ”. The theme of the conference, according to The New York Times, was the “gay agenda”: “how to make gay people straight, how gay men often sodomized teenage boys and how ‘the gay movement is an evil institution’ whose goal is ‘to defeat the marriage-based society and replace it with a culture of sexual promiscuity’ ”
An Anglican priest from Zambia named Kapya Kaoma was in attendance, and reported on the conference. Ugandan Stephen Langa organised it, and was supported by Lively, who asserted in his workshops that homosexuality was akin to child molestation and bestiality, and causes higher rates of divorce and HIV transmission. Lively’s emphasis was on the cohesion of the African family, that he said was being threatened by “homosexuals looking to recruit youth into their ranks”. According to Kaoma, during the conference, one of the thousands of Ugandans in attendance announced, “[The parliament] feels it is necessary to draft a new law that deals comprehensively with the issue of homosexuality and…takes into account the international gay agenda…”
This is how Uganda’s “Kill The Gays” bill came into being.

And while we’re on the subject of Alan “Self Loathing Closet Case” Chambers lets never forget that he has the blood of many lesbian and gay suicide victims on his hands from the lies and twisted therapies that he put them through because of his self loathing.
So not only is “Chambers is a sad and pathetic man.” as Dan so nicely puts it using The Boys in the Band to prove his point.
Alan Chambers is also a murderer.
Faced with insurmountable evidence that reparative therapy doesn’t work, Alan Chambers President of Exodus International a worldwide umbrella group for ex-gay organizations and is intimately associated with right-wing Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family has suddenly changed his mind and has declared that “reparative therapy” doesn’t work and Alan Chambers doing the media circuit to do “damage control” and to whitewash the ex-gay organizations past.
In an interview with the New York Times last week Chambers declared that there is no “cure” for homosexuality saying that
(Chambers) said Exodus could no longer condone reparative therapy, which blames homosexuality on emotional scars in childhood and claims to reshape the psyche. And in a theological departure that has caused the sharpest reaction from conservative pastors, Mr. Chambers said he believed that those who persist in homosexual behavior could still be saved by Christ and go to heaven.
Appearing last night on MSNBC’s Hardball, Chambers took it a step further and attempted to cover his and Exodus Internationals collective asses by telling guest host Michael Smerconish that the concept of “praying away the gay has been a lazy stereotype. That’s not what I did.”
Said Chambers:
As far as reparative therapy… We endorsed that and had people within our movement who did therapy, but so much of the focus is changing there where they’re talking about 100% cures and using that word specifically with me in private conversations and even introducing things like heterosexual pornography to help instigate attraction. I don’t find that healthy at all.
Chambers may not have found it healthy. But he allowed it and made a fine living off it. Because praying away the gay, brainwashing and using fear tactics is exactly what Exodus International did.
Not only did Chambers allow and endorse reparative therapy. Exodus International allowed its own staff to use personal stories to promote it and their organization. EI Ministry director John Smid told the Memphis Flyer in 1997 how he changed from gay to straight.
“I’m looking at that wall and suddenly I say it’s blue,” Smid said, pointing to a yellow wall. “Someone else comes along and says, ‘No, it’s gold.’ But I want to believe that wall is blue. Then God comes along and He says, ‘You’re right, John, [that yellow wall] is blue.’ That’s the help I need. God can help me make that [yellow] wall blue.”
Former ex-gay and EI alum Steve Lee told the ABC news magazine about EI tactics in a 20/20 episode on Sept. 21, 2007 saying . “I would definitely call it brainwashing,” he said. “It was an exercise in humiliation.”
Exodus International also engaged in double-talk about “loving” gay people. (and still does). While having its own television show on the Christian Sky Angel network, where they repeatedly berated and bashed the LGBT life as “perverse” and “sexual brokenness” and even in some cases, presented homosexuality as demonic with one of Exodus International’s most celebrated leaders, Andy Comiskey of Desert Stream ministries writing in his book “Pursuing Sexual Wholeness,” calling homosexuality “spiritual disfigurement” and believes that “Satan delights in homosexual perversion because it not only exists outside of marriage, but it also defiles God’ very image reflected as male and female…Another related source of demonization is the homosexual relationship itself…That attachment and communion are indeed inspired, but their source is demonic.”
But in what has to be the most heinous part of Exodus Internationals past was that it purposely used scare tactics to recruit new clients in the early 1980’s and 1990’s, by relying heavily on fear of the AIDS epidemic to attract new members and to make money.
This is what Exodus International was, and is. We should never forget that. And there is no way that we should allow Alan Chambers to cover up Exodus International’s harmful and in some cases lethal history of th use of fear, intimidation, brain washing, and anti-gay propaganda since it was founded in 1976.
Regardless of Chambers “enlightenment” and his media blitz quite simply put Exodus International is a dangerous radical organization with a right-wing political agenda that seeks to deny LGBT Americans basic equality and the right to be who they truly are.
No matter what Alan Chambers states he and Exodus International are as dangerous as ever and we should not allow them to whitewash their past and try to distance themselves from the crimes they have committed against out community.

“It is with great disappointment that we are notifying you today that the Love Won Out Conference scheduled for May 19th at Legacy Church in Albuquerque, N.M., has been cancelled,” Exodus’ senior director of events David Fountain said in an email, which was sent out to planned attendees.
Exodus International’s last conference barely brought in 400 people.
Truth Wins Out says, “This is a positive development and signals the decline of this organized lie in the United States” on its website. “The cancellation of this conference, the first time we know of since either Exodus or Focus on the Family held the event, appears to provide more evidence of their decline,”
In November of last year, Exodus held a secret meeting about its fundraising strategies and how to keep the group from social and financial oblivion and has reduced its staff and lost important supporters.
Fountain suggested that individuals who paid for the event might “Automatically convert all or part of your registration fees into a tax-deductible gift to support the ministry efforts of Exodus International.”
The Christian Broadcast Network televised a massive fact lacking propaganda piece yesterday defending the Michele and Marcus Bachmann’s “Pray The Gay Away” therapy clinic by trotting out evangelical researcher Mark Yarhouse of Pat Robertson’s Regent University and praised his presentation at the American Psychological Associations Annual Conference
Unfortunatltly the CBC just happened to leave out that this was back in 2007 and that their work was fully funded by Exodus International and it utilized activist research subjects who were recruited with help from Exodus and the ex-gay therapy lobby NARTH and that it had many many problems
•The study was conducted by two supporters of ex-gay ministries.
•Yarhouse originally sought 300 participants, but after more than a year of seeking to round up volunteers, they had to settle on only 98 participants.
•During the course of the study, 25 dropped out, and one participant’s answers were too incomplete to be used.
•Of the remaining 72 only 11 reported “satisfactory, if not uncomplicated, heterosexual adjustment.” (direct quote). Some of these 11 remained primarily homosexual in attraction or, at best, bisexual, but were satisfied that they were just slightly more attracted to the opposite sex, or slightly less attracted to the same sex.
•After the study ended, but before the book was finished, one of the 11 wrote to the authors to say that he lied — he really wanted to change, had really hoped he had changed, and answered that he had changed. But he concluded that he hadn’t, came out, and is now living as an openly gay man.
•Dozens of participants experienced no lessening of same-sex attraction and no increase in opposite-sex attraction, but were classified as “success” stories by Jones and Yarhouse simply because they maintained celibacy — something many conservative gay people already do.
•The study purposely declined to interview any ex-gay survivors: people who claim to have been injured by ex-gay programs and who have formed support groups such as Beyond Ex-Gay. Despite — or because of — this omission, the authors of this study make the unfounded claim that there is little or no evidence of harm resulting from unproven, unsupervised, unlicensed, and amateur ex-gay counseling tactics.
But in reality the APA criticized Yarhouse’s research methods pointing out most “notably the absence of a control or comparison group and the threats to internal, external, construct, and statistical validity. Best-practice analytical techniques were not performed in the study, and there are significant deficiencies in the analysis of longitudinal data, use of statistical measures, and choice of assessment measures”.
CBN then furthers the propaganda report by trotting out a representative of the Media Research Center which is known, and proven by Back2Stonewall.com yesterday to be one of the many umbrella and astroturfing groups that has direct ties to the hate group the Family Research Council.and the extreme fanatical religious right.

In a rambling letter on the Defend The Family website Lively writes: (experts below)
I am Pastor Scott Lively and it has been my mission for 25 years to work against the “gay” agenda. I am probably one of your best-known opponents in this world. Amongst the many hate-mail messages I receive are the occasional sincere requests to explain my motivation. I believe the time has come to do that…
On March 8th of this year I received a message known in charismatic Christian circles as a prophetic “word of knowledge,” which said in essence that God would soon use me to lead some homosexuals to Him, and referenced 2 Samuel 14:14: “For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away life, but plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from him.”
In the several weeks since I received that, I have given a lot of thought to the message, and realized that in all of my years of talking about you and “the homosexual issue” generally, I have never spoken to you as a community. I repent of that, and apologize to you.
The destruction of Sodom (and three other cities) is told in Genesis 19, and further explained in Jude 1:7: “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. That’s why there is only one way to heaven (John 14:6). If you could enter any other way the sacrifice of Christ would have been in vain. God’s only son would have allowed Himself to be tortured and murdered for nothing.
That is also why you must repent to be saved. You cannot be His until you consciously and voluntarily submit your self to His authority.
If I hated you (as the devil surely does) I would not give you this warning. What I am writing here to you is what I believe, and the theology I live by myself. In fact, if the line into heaven was graded by one’s good works done in this life there are undoubtedly many of you who would pass through those gates ahead of me. But the standard is much higher than that. So high that only Jesus can meet it. So I am trusting only in Him, and implore you to do the same.

Just when you thought they couldn’t get lower or more ridiculous comes this news that “ex-gay” screaming queen Alan Chambers (above left) president of the “Christian” ex-gay reconditioning cult Exodus International. EI is the worldwide umbrella group for other ex-gay cults and has more than 100 affiliated ministries or the counselors which uses prayer and denial as the tools to supposedly “change” GLBT people into heterosexuals. This process can involve mind control that alters behavior, but not sexual orientation.
Anyway Miss Chambers is INCENSED over the fact that Disney has allowed the animated character Woody from their Toy Story franchise, which many gay youth have grown up to Google Chrome commercial featuring Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better Project” to encourages bullied kids both LGBT and Straight not to suicide which aired during last weeks episode of “GLEE” and also aired Sunday Night after the season finale of “The Amazing Race” which has a very gay friendly and gay positive attitude in including gay and lesbian contestants.
Chambers whined to The Christian Post entitled “Woody Endorses Homosexuality”
“Children all over the world, including my two children are fans of ‘Toy Story’ and to see a character like that endorsing something that at this point children have no need to know about, it’s disappointing,” (His children are adopted by the way he has not become “that STR8”)
So Chambers is disappointed that ‘Woody’ and Disney support helping boys and girls so that their parents don’t find they have committed suicide to escape the torment that people like Chambers throws upon them.
Chambers should be reminded that many children feel they have nowhere to turn and no one that will accept and understand them, and with good reason since many have been disowned by those that are supposed to love, them when they find out they are gay. And these are the same people who preach against abortion and claim that “every life is special and deserves love”. Every life that is except an LGBT one.
Disney is acting in a more Christian manner, than many of these “so-called Christian’ cults like EI will ever.
Its more than time for the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association to step forward and outlaw Exodus International and other dangerous “conversion therapy” cults and put self loathing disgusting, dangerous, and closeted queens like Chambers out of a job.
