BACKSTORY: While Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law was working its way through the Florida senate,Disney CEO Bob Chapek decided that even though Disney calls itself a “ally” of the LGBT community the entertainment giant would not speak out against it and were caught having donated to the Republican politicians responsible for the hateful and extremely harmful law. Which have raised calls of boycotting Disney from the LGBT community. After the law was passed and after much pressure from millions of American’s Disney finally came out against “Don’t Say Gay” but it was too little, too late and signed into law. It was at this point that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis attacked Disney and now the entire GOP Q CON-servative right wing is also boycotting Disney.
Boycotts on the left. Boycotts on the right. This is what happens when you play both sides against the middle with peoples rights.

It seems Tennessee Rep. Joey Hensley, R-Hohenwald, is afraid that Tennessee’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill won’t make it through current legislative session based on the fact that “some people who didn’t want to vote on it” and is shelving it “for this year”.
However the State Department of Education and Board of Education has directed schools via letter not to teach about homosexuality in grades K-8 at all.
The bill passed the Senate last year and recently won approval in modified form from the House Education Committee on an 8-7 vote. It needed only the approval of the Calendar Committee, usually a routine matter, to be set for a floor vote.
Hensley said nickname the bill received “really wasn’t what the bill was all about” and contributed to unease of some legislators in voting on the measure. He said the bill could be re-filed next year if there is any indication of “alternate lifestyles” being prompted in Tennessee schools despite the pending letter.
The operative language of the amended version says that in grades K-8 any such classroom instruction, course materials or other informational resources that are inconsistent with natural human reproduction shall be classified as inappropriate for the intended student audience and, therefore, shall be prohibited.”
Hopefully progressive teachers in Tennesse will see that even though they can’t talk about “homosexuality” in grades
Not more than two days after Tennessee advanced its infamous ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill that would eliminate discussions of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in public schools, prohibit teachers from addressing bullying based on sexual orientation, and likely ban gay-straight alliances. The state of Missouri has now introduced a bill that exactly mirrors it.
HB 2051 states: 170.370. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, no instruction, material, or extracurricular activity sponsored by a public school that discusses sexual orientation other than in scientific instruction concerning human reproduction shall be provided in any public school.
The Missouri bill is sponsored by Rep. Stanley Cookson (R) and has attracted 19 GOP co-sponsors, including Speaker Steve Tilley and Majority Leader Tim Jones (the same Tim Jones who is a plaintiff in Orly Taitz’ birther lawsuits) and has advanced to the Missouri House education committee.
“Filing this bill is a desperate tactic by frightened, bigoted, cynical individuals who are terrified at the advancement the LGBT community has made in breaking down the barriers to full and equal treatment under the law. It’s clear that this proposed bill does nothing to protect students. In some way, however, these enemies of Freedom of Speech have done us a favor. By attempting to coerce teachers and students into making this core reality of our lives literally unspeakable, they have only proved why LGBT students need greater, better, and stronger protection in our schools.” states ,” said A.J. Bockelman, executive director of PROMO, the state’s leading gay rights advocate.
