NAMING NAMES – NOM Raised 4.7 Million Dollars From Just 2 Donors – Who Are They?

Well, its nice to see that the Human Rights Campaign be proactive about something.  And that was the case this week as folk from the HRC marched from their 8 million dollar office building in Washington, D.C. over to the National Organization for Marriage’s offices and demanded their now-publicly due 2011 financial filings.

It turns out that NOM raised 6.2 million dollars in 2011, a significant drop from the $9.1 million it raised in 2010.  But SURPRISE!  It turns out that 75% of that 6.2 mil came from just two undisclosed donors which of course NOM is fighting tooth and nail to stop any information about these donors from getting out

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) saw a steep decline in the amount of money it raised in 2011 – dropping to $6.2 million from the $9.1 million it raised the previous year. Just two donors were responsible for funding 75 percent of the anti-gay group – the organization reported two donations of approximately $2.4 million each. In addition to illustrating that more than $4.7 million of NOM’s total $6.2 million reported came from just two mysterious mega-donors, the documents also reveal some interesting information about NOM’s closest affiliates. For example, NOM paid $870,000 to CC Advertising – a group HRC recently filed an FCC complaint against for spamming unsuspecting cell phone users with anti-gay, anti-Obama text messages. The organization also paid nearly $375,000 to Frank Schubert, their ad guru who makes his living largely off of promoting anti-LGBT propaganda.

So now that we know that NOM really isn’t a grassroots organization or a crowd driven social movement organization at all and has utterly failed to build a donor base.

But while the HRC bemoans who NOM paid out money to.  I’m more interested in exactly WHO the two multimillionaire backers are who are solely behind their hateful anti-gay agenda

So lets name some names shall we and throw em out there and see if any of them strike a nerve.

Best bets are that the financial engine behind the anti-equality movement is almost certainly backed by Sean Fieler chairman of the American Principles Project and board member of the Witherspoon Institute, the Institute for American Values, and the Dominican Foundation  and proud NOM supporter.  The other, I’d surmise, is Howard Ahmanson, Jr.   a multimillionaire backer of many right-wing nutjob “Christian”conservative cultural, religious and political causes.  My other guesses would be Elsa Prince, Dick DeVos, or John Templeton, Jr. but Im pretty sure that when the donors names are finally disclosed or found out that its going to be Fieler and Ahmanson.

But then again it could be The Catholic Church or the Mormon Church.  Or maybe Satan!  Wait that’s the same thing.

And in case anyone was wondering.  Brian Brown gets paid $230,000 a year and Maggie Gallagher $170,000.00.

Thats a lot of Chik-fil-hAte sandwichs!

National Organization For Marriage DEMANDS The HRC Be Investigated For Stealing Their Tax Returns

Brian Brown the president of the National Organization for Marriage  is demanding a full  federal investigation of the Human Rights Campaign claiming that they “stole”  the race baiting hate group’s 2008 tax return in which the names and addresses of donors which are normally redacted from publicly released tax documents were still intact.

“Last week the publication posted a copy of NOM’s federal tax return for 2008 (Form 990—Schedule B) listing its major donors, which is a confidential document filed only with the IRS. The tax return listed the names and addresses of dozens of NOM’s major donors in 2008. All of this information is submitted to the IRS on a confidential basis and is not available for lawful public disclosure.

It appears that someone with either the IRS or the HRC may have committed a federal crime by illegally obtaining and then releasing a confidential tax return of the National Organization for Marriage,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president. “It’s clear that the tax return was stolen, either from NOM or from the government. The Huffington Post article says that HRC claimed they received the document from a ‘whistleblower.’ But the term ‘whistleblower’ is completely inapt. We’re talking about a criminal who has stolen confidential tax return information. We demand to know who this criminal is, whether they work for the HRC or the IRS, and how they obtained confidential tax information filed only with the US government.”

Actually I wouldn’t put it past Brown and NOM  as being the one to release the tax documents in n attempt to take the heat off of NOM about the Race Baiting documents.

Deflection after the fact by using the “victim card” is NOM’s modus operandi after all.

Minnesota Anti-Gay Marriage Donor Received More Than 2 Million Dollars In Goverment War Contracts

Last Thursday the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board ruled  that major corporate donors related to the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage  must be disclosed. But Minnesota’s already strong disclosure laws reveal many large donors behind the seven-year battle the Minnesota Family Council has waged to get the amendment on the ballot next year.

The  Minnesota Catholic Conference, the policy arm of the Roman Catholic Church in Minnesota, is exclusively funded by the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis, unlike other organizations which have a diversity of donors. On the other hand the Minnesota Family Council (MFC), Minnesota for Marriage (M4M) and Minnesota Citizens in Defense of Marriage (MCDM), the money is primarily from large donors including one donor who received over 2 million dollars in Government contracts over the past 10 years.

Joel Jennings is CEO of Gopher Sport, which also goes under the name of “The Prophet Corporation is a sporting apparel and equipment company based in Owatonna, MN.  Jennings personally gave M4M $15,000 in 2005, and the Jennings Family Foundation has also given the Minnesota Family Council $80,000 since 2003.  The Minnesota Family Council is consistently in the top five recipients of the foundation and Jennings also gave money to MFC’s lobbying efforts in 2010.

The company itself has received over $2 million in defense contracts between 2000 and 2010 and another $130,00 in other government contracts so at t least a portion of the company’s profits come from the government which was later passed into anti-gay donations.

Profits from war used to promote hate.  How much more disgusting can it get?

The National Organization for Marriage Tries One More Time NOT To Reveal Donor List

The anti-gay group The National Organization for Marriage (one of our biggest enemies) will ask the Maine State Ethics Commission Thursday to dismiss an investigation into the fundraising techniques it used prior to last year’s gay-marriage vote.

In October, the commission directed its staff to investigate whether the National Organization for Marriage should have registered with the state as a ballot question committee. State law says groups that raise or spend more than $5,000 trying to influence the outcome of any Maine election must register with the state and disclose their donors.

The National Organization for Marriage donated more than $1.9 million to Stand for Marriage Maine, a political action committee that helped repeal a Maine law that allowed gay and lesbian couples to marry.

Bostrom said NOM did not raise more than $5,000 specifically for the Maine campaign but instead took money from its general operating budget to help the Maine repeal effort.

Further, he said, the group does not want to reveal the names of donors because they fear harassment.

I mean after all you hear about straight bashings everyday right?

National Organization For Marriage LOSES Federal Appeal, Ordered To Turn Finances Over To Maine

The hateful homophobic bigots at NOM have been denied it’s latest attempt to continue shielding their list of donors from Maine as is required by state election finance law via the federal appeals court in Boston .

“NOM” contributed nearly $2 million to last year’s successful campaign to overturn Maine’s gay marriage law. Opponents say NOM has failed to comply with the state’s financial disclosure law, a claim that is nowunder investigation by the state Ethics Commission. NOM, meanwhile, has filed its own constitutional challenge of the state law, and Kate Simmons of the Maine Attorney Generals’ office says Monday’s ruling will help the state defend itself. “NOM must reveal to the state how they raised the money, for what purpose and who it came from,” she says. “They were the largest single contributor to Stand for Marriage Maine, and as a part of Maine’s campaign finance laws, the state is working to find out how they raised that money and for what purpose.” The court has ordered that any information handed over by NOM would have to remain confidential.

NOM’s current president Brian (Buttboy) Brown vowed to take the fight all the way to the Supreme Court because if he doesn’t how will NOM still be able to launder money, lie, discriminate and make OODLES of profit.
