The HRC Wants To Make Money Off Your Same Sex Marriage – Emily Post Would Shit

This may not be as low as the Human Rights Campaign originally buying Harvey Milk’s Camera Store to turn into a gift shop but it’s pretty damn close.

The HRC is setting up its own sort of “donation wedding registry” called Millions for Marriage Equality –  where couples can encourage their friends and families to support the work of the HRC in lieu of gifts and in “honor of a wedding celebration.”

And as David Badash of The New Civil Rights Movement points out the HRC’s new wedding registry donation program. “isn’t even hosted by HRC, but by their marketing partner, Convio.”

Now for those of you with short memories please remember that this is coming from an  organization who publicly derided; the couples that filed the lawsuit that got Prop 8 declared unconstitutional, the organization that filed suit to end DADT, and legal action that had part of DoMA declared unconstitutional. And right after each success HRC had their people out on the street fund raising saying that HRC was behind the actions when they were an impediment to those legal actions.

Yes they did work for same sex marriage in New York.  But that is their job after all and they currently raise over 45 million dollars a year to do it, own an 8 million dollar office building, and pays its President Joey “Botox Boy” Solmonese over $350,000.00 a year.

Besides, it is entirely improper to EVER state that a gift is needed . It is tasteless in the extreme to tell one’s friends and family what to give for any occasion. One is to be delighted that friends and family cared enough about the occasion to give one anything at all. For HRC to stand at the gift table with its hands open to attempt to make money off of the wedding celebrations of the LGBT community is inexcusable, crass, and plain offensive

HRC on Moving Into Harvey Milk’s Camera Store: "Each tourist who buys a Harvey Milk T-shirt or an HRC tote bag is a potential (sucker) activist"

The Associated Press is reporting on what is quickly becoming the the Human Rights Campaign’s “hostile takeover” Harvey Milk’s old camera shop at 575 Castro in San Francisco for use as a boutique to sell its trinkets and merchandise.

Milk’s friends and admirers are so incensed at the group taking over the slain San Francisco supervisor’s stomping grounds that they would rather see a Starbucks there, underscoring the tensions that exist within the various factions of the gay rights movement. The organization is a frequent target of criticism from gay rights activists who consider its mainstream, ‘Would Harveyinside the Beltway’ style ineffective. They believe the organization’s philosophy of incremental progress in the gay rights movement runs completely counter to the uncompromising message of gay pride championed by Milk.”

Said Cleve Jones to the AP: “[Milk] was not an ‘A-Gay’ and had no desire to be an A-Gay. He despised those people and they despised him. That, to me, is the crowd HRC represents. Don’t try to wrap yourself up in Harvey Milk’s mantle and pretend you are one of us.”

HRC’screative director Don Kiser understands the concerns and says he is open to suggestions, but thinks the criticism is overstated. The group obtains about one-third of the new names on its mailing lists from visitors to its retail stores in San Francisco, Provincetown, Mass., and Washington. Each tourist who goes in to buy a Harvey Milk T-shirt or an HRC tote bag is a potential activist, Kiser says.”

In reality though For HRC, “potential activist” really means potential donor.

HRC should not even be mentioned in the same breath as Harvey Milk. Harvey’s memory and work and they sully it by even trying to pretend that they are akin.  And just how delusional  is HRC is that they thought no one would get upset or care about this?  Or perhaps they are just arrogant and really don;t give a flying fuck what we think, which has been par for the course all along.
Harvey Milk was an activist, advocate and role model.

HRC throws cocktail fundraisers for well connected A-list queers and A-list wannabees.

This is about not contributing to an ineffective organization, where your dollars are LITERALLY being poured into cocktails.and who still to this day whore themselves to the Democrats and the DNC instead of FIGHTING for your rights,

ANYONE who supports this move should be ashamed and have your gay card burned.

Video – Watch HRC President Joe Solmonese Blame ‘Every Player’ Except The HRC For The ‘DADT’ Repeal Failure – JOE MUST GO!

Last night CNN’s John King interviewed Joe Solmonese, President of the Human Rights Campaign, and discussed the failed Senate ‘DADT’ repeal bill.

According to Solmonsleaze:

“I think everybody involved in this process let the community down. Every one of the players in this process let the community down because the fact of the matter was there was a path forward, whether it was the White House, the Democratic leadership, the Republicans who supported this bill. I have to believe we could have found that way forward and we could have gotten it done.”

Of course Joe did not include the HRC in his critique.of the problem which HRC and himself are a major

reason for the failing because of their spineless ass kissing ways.

In September Andrew Sullivan and also this blog clled upon HRC to fire Joe Solmonese or for Solmonese himself to do the right thing in resign.  Those calls fell upon deaf ears.  Now after the massive lying, ineptitude and the spinelessness of HRC and its President Solmonese has finally come to light others are also joining the call.

Pam Spaulding of Pam’s House Blend has also called upon Solmonese to resign.

Joe Solmonese should do the honorable thing and step down. It is shameful to cash all those checks without the follow through on the job. The White House was never put under serious pressure; the late calls now in the e-blasts for the President to do something ring hollow after the toadying that has gone on for two years

. Its well past time kids.  If HRC wants to represent us Solmonese needs to leave and the entire organization needs to be restructured.  But the first move is getting Solmonese out of there!

Our house is only as strong as the foundation that it is built upon and Solmonese and HRC are rotten to the core, need to be excavated and rebuilt.

Anyone volunteer to write up the petition?

NGLTF: "There was never any question in the gay community on the intentions of Obama." WTF?!

The National Gay ans Lesbian Task Force whose President Rea Carey, takes home over $217,582 a year in salary is one of those annoying Gay Inc. organizations.  Somehow they have gotten themselves into a position of leadership in the LGBT Community but do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING constructive when it comes to actually fighting for or achieving LGBT Rights.  The NGLTF excels at attending cocktail parties at the White House and meetings that go nowhere, throwing fundraisers for itself to keep its employees well paid and its bloated budget alive and well and holds “weekend conferences” where it charges an arm and a leg to teach attendees how to be leaders in the LGBT Community without really knowing how to do so itself.

Case in point of actually how removed the NGLTF is from the REAL members of the LGBT Community.

Via Politico:

Laurie Young, the director of public policy at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, said there was never any question in the gay community on the intentions of Obama.

“He has stated very clearly that he wants the Senate to move as quickly as possible and that he wants this done legislatively – I know that he very much supports it,” she told POLITICO. “My hope is that it will be done swiftly through the lame-duck session.”

“There was never any question in the gay community on the intentions of Obama.”

Obvious somewhere in that bloated budget of the NGLTF is an expenditure for CRACK because obviously they are removed from reality via some chemical substance. Or just bold faced liars pusingh propaganda to try defend their lack of any achievement and shepard the LGBT community back into the “We Love Obama and the Democrats camp so they can have more cocktails and movie nights with the President and try to stay relevant.

We need to remember that every time that we warned the NGLTF and HRC of their failure to act, we were told we did not know what we were talking about.  They had a “super duper secret plan.” We were all just a bunch of laughable, naive whiners while all the cool gay and lesbian kids enjoyed their cocktails at the White House

This is what their “super duper secret plan.” gotten us in 2 years with a Democratic President, Senate, and House:

DADT – Possible FAIL
ENDA – FAIL
DOMA – FAIL
Permanent Partners (UAFA) – FAIL
Federal Employee Benefits – FAIL
Health Care Nondiscrimination – FAIL
(Unenforced) Hate Crimes Law – SYMBOLIC WIN
Piddly Executive Branch Changes – WIN, FOR NOW
Defense of Our Constitutional Rights – EXTREME FAIL

This is what the NGLTF, HRC, and Gay Inc accomplished over the past 2 years because “There was never any question in the gay community on the intentions of Obama.”

It is truly time to turn our backs on the NGLTF, HRC, and Gay Inc and create NEW LGBT Advocacy Organizations.  Ones which aren’t tainted with apathy, greed and star-fuckery with staff making 6 digit salaries and it behooves them to stay in business. We need advocacy groups that run on the passion for the cause and have focus.  Not the ones we have that run because of the  size of the paychecks they recieve and the stars they can cocktails with at their benefits.

We need to be rid of the self-effacing and -aggrandizing advocacy groups such as the HRC and NGLTF they are like the bleating of the Vichy Français as they insisted to all who would listen that the Nazi occupiers really weren’t that bad if you get to know them…provided you aren’t Jewish, gypsy, or gay.

The HRC, NGLTF are worthless and have caused us much more harm than good and the  past two years have proved that.

It’s time to turn our backs on them and start anew.

Gay Student Graeme Taylor, 14, Is Sticking Up For Michigan High School Teacher Jay McDowell. And He Is FRAKING Awesome – Michigan high school teacher Jay McDowell was suspended for a day without pay after trying to make his classroom a place for acceptance rather than intolerance,  McDowell was disciplined for telling a student to remove a confederate flag belt buckle (because it represented racism) while defending the purple clothing of Spirit Day, Howell administrators insisted McDowell was at fault for infringing on students’ First Amendment rights.

14 Year old Taylor stood up at the School Board meeting and quoting Dr. Martin Luther King, Taylor told board members about how their district isn’t just home to the KKK (Grand Wizard Robert Miles lived nearby before he died), but to intolerant students who drove him, at the age of nine, to attempt suicide.

What McDowell tried to do, says Taylor, was move the needle ever so slightly in the other direction and defend LGBT kids who have found hallway torment to be status quo. “The best thing you can do right now is just give him his pay for that day, and just reverse the disciplinary actions,” Taylor told the school board. “He did an amazing thing. He did something that’s inspired a lot of people. And whenever — ever — I have a teacher stand up for me like that, they change in my eyes. Joe Solmonese and The Human Rights Campaign Send A Letter To Obama Asking Foa A "Stop-Loss Executive Order" To Stop Discharges Under DADT A Year Late and 7.9 Million Dollars In Revenue Short

As reported this morning the HRC is facing an almost 20 percent loss in donations from the LGBT Community in 2010  which in most par due to the horrible handling of LGBT \righst issues including ENDA and of course DADT.

Today Joe Solmonese wrote a heartfelt rambling letter to President Obama finally after over a year and a half of asskissing, cocktail parties and  listening and drooling over the Obama Administration’s lies and unkept  promises.  NOW the HRC FINALLY asks Obama to “issue a stop-loss order suspending enforcement of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

This is one of the first letters they should have put on Obama’s desk. And, even if 2009 was all about finances and health care, then they should have pushed him to put it firmly on his 2010 agenda last year.  The HRC had a responsibility to the LGBT Community to stand up and be strong from the start and not stare with stars in their eyes at being invited to the White House for cocktails.

THIS is just further proof of the HRC’s ineptness and just how useles and removed from the REAL LGBT community that they are.

You can read Solomeses’ rambling letter to Obama after the jump.  Which is actually kind of sad and pathetic because no matter how strong “Little Joe” tries to come on in the letter.  He still sounds like a simpering, fawning fool.
Dear Mr. President:

Years from now, students of the movement for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality (LGBT) will no doubt see this fall as a pivotal period in the history of our struggle for fundamental fairness. In January, we were all inspired by your State of the Union pledge to end our nation’s discriminatory ban on open service by gays and lesbians. Equally inspiring was the testimony in support of repealing the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law by the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. We have come so far, but the only true measure of success is whether the thousands of brave gay and lesbian Americans who are serving their country, and the many more who want to serve their country, can do so openly and honestly. We have not yet met that goal, and without your leadership and unparalleled efforts, this historic opportunity to remove a stain of discrimination from our nation will pass all of us by.

Last week, lawyers for your administration asked for an emergency stay from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, seeking to end a worldwide injunction of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law while they work to overturn a federal judge’s conclusion that this law – one that you have called discriminatory and contrary to our national security on many occasions – offends the protections of our Constitution. I continue to struggle with how your administration can defend a law you oppose, and how it could be even remotely constitutional for a statute to single out one group of brave Americans, because of who they are and who they love, and order them serve in silence and deception. How can our government have a duty to defend a statute that is clearly so contrary to our Constitution’s guarantee of equality for all?

The Ninth Circuit’s decision to stay Judge Phillips’s decision further frustrates repeal advocates and puts a bright spotlight on you to reconcile this endless legal wrangling with your public promise to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” While we continue to call on your Administration not to appeal, if the Justice Department does insist on defending this discriminatory law, I strongly urge you to instruct government lawyers to inform the appellate court that the Executive Branch believes that the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law is unconstitutional. I agree with the esteemed lawyer and former head of the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice, Walter Dellinger, that such a move would send the Ninth Circuit a critically important message.

Furthermore, the litigation strategy challenging “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is made all the more critical by the challenges a legislative repeal has faced in Congress. While the House approved repeal by a wide margin, the Senate’s first and second attempts to move forward on the critical Defense Authorization bill were stymied by Republican obstructionists looking to score political points before the midterm elections. There is still an opportunity for the Senate to send the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to your desk in the lame duck session, but it will not happen if you do not put the full weight of the Office of the President of the United States behind it. Republican opponents would rather see the Defense Authorization and everything in it – military pay raises, critical armor and equipment for our troops, health coverage for their families on the home front – fail than let gays and lesbians serve their country openly. This is an outrageous insult to our troops, to their Commander-in-Chief, and to the Defense Department charged with their operations and their care. You and Secretary Gates must be full partners in making clear to Senators that it is doubly unacceptable to hold hostage the needs of every soldier, sailor, airman and Marine in a desperate attempt to preserve a law that flies in the face of the American ideals they sacrifice to protect every day.

It is because “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is contrary to our core values as a nation that it must end. And we must have a durable solution – legislative repeal or a solid judicial decision. But if those fail, you must not allow another day to go by in which a brave gay or lesbian service member is discharged based simply on sexual orientation. HRC has urged your administration, privately and publicly, for more than a year to use every tool at your disposal as Chief Executive to at least significantly reduce discharges, if not end them entirely. More can be done in this regard.

You can and should issue a stop-loss order suspending enforcement of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” This discriminatory law has already deprived our military thousands of service members, many with critical skills in fighting terrorism. You have acknowledged that it harms our national security. If we fail to achieve legislative repeal this year, and if you will not abandon the defense of this discriminatory law in court, then it is imperative that you use your clear authority as President to end the discharges. Anything less is unacceptable.

We have fought long and hard to get this close to ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” We pledge to continue that fight, every step of the way, until this unjust law is gone for good. Future generations will look back at this moment – we must not let it become a setback in the long march toward full equality, but instead make it the turning point it is poised to become.

Sincerely,
Joe Solmonese

The Human Rights Campaign Attempts To Cash In On LGBT Bullying and Suicide – Disgusting and Unconscionable

Never one to pass up a quick buck today the HRC hit a new low by offering for sale a purple plastic “HRC.ORG  End Bullying” bracelet that has 100 percent of the proceeds going to……you guessed it the HRC’s fight for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality and the HRC ALONE.

NO PROCEEDS to the Trevor Project or even to a  related anti-bullying campaign.  But 100 PERCENT of the proceeds to the HRC.

So send your money to the HRC and receive a nifty bracelet and help support thie\\eir 8 Million dollar headquarters, or Joe Solmonese’s or Fred Sainz’s obscenely bloated salaries.  Or send your money to actual worthwhile LGBT Bullying and Suicide prevention agencies that REALLY NEED THE MONEY.  Like The Trevor Project and the The JED Foundation,

As for HRC you are DISGUSTING and should be ASHAMED of yourself.  Words just fail me to describe just how horrible and ghoulish it is that you are trying to make money off bullied and dead LGBT teens.

Many thanks to Mike Petrelis of The Petrelis Files for reporting on this disgusting move by the HRC.
