Convicted Craigslist Killer Peter Avsenew stood before a Broward jury Thursday morning and offered no excuses, no explanations and no signs of remorse.
“I have no regrets in my life and I’m proud of every decision I’ve ever made,” he said.
Avsenew, 32, was convicted of murder in the 2010 deaths of Kevin Mark Powell, 47, and Stephen Adams, 52, in Wilton Manners, a heavily populated gay city near Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Prosecutors said Avsenew used Craigslist to get invited to the victims’ home and then killed and robbed them, leaving with their money, a car, and other belongings.
Avsenew’s attorneys argued that he went to the couple’s house and found them already dead, and that he didn’t call 911 because he was working for the couple as an escort.
The jury deliberated less than three hours and recommended that Avsenew, 33, be put to death for the murders of Powell of Adams.
Minutes after the sentencing, Avsenew gave the middle finger to the victims’ families.
Avsenew is the first defendant in Broward to receive a death recommendation from a jury since the state’s death penalty law was rewritten last year. Juries now have to make unanimous decisions to execute convicted killers.

Whatever happened to the days when kids wanted ponies?
Craigslist has given up fighting to keep up it’s “Adult Services” section after it had been faced with a letter from 17 state attorneys general demanding it immediately shut down its adult services listing.
Craigslist’s “Adult Services” section carried ads for everything from personal massages to a night’s companionship, which critics say veered into prostitution and jailhouse suicide last month of a former medical student who was awaiting trial in the killing of a masseuse he met through Craigslist. But in an intersecting counter-point if Philip Markoff the former medical student who was accused of killing a masseuse he met through Craigslist had gone through another different underground venue the police would have never caught him because they used the messages sent through Craigslist to catch Markoff.
Driving sex work underground is exactly what makes it dangerous. Sex workers in legal brothels do not have to worry about client abuse or persecution by law enforcement. So now 17 attorneys generals who will get to crow how they “saved the children” when they make their bid to run for higher office have actually made it harder and the police crack down on crimes that happen to sex workers and people who use them.
According the AIM Group, Craigslist’s adult services section accounts for 30 percent of its overall revenue — a projected $36.6 million in 2010 out of $122 million. More than half the company’s revenue comes from recruitment advertising and about 17 percent (almost $21 million) comes from apartment ads in New York City, the AIM
Something tells me there’s going to be a huge spike in ads in the ‘therapeutic’ services offered section.
Pastor George Randall “Randy” Scott, of the Bethel Temple Assembly Of God Church in Bryan, Texas, was arrested Saturday in Houston after returning from a trip to Sweden with his wife.for pretending to be a teenager and troll Craigslist as a 17 year old boy to find men to blackmail to have sex with him.
According to court documents the incident occurred on November 24, 2009 after the victim and Scott exchanged about 12 e-mails over 2 days.
Eventually the victim agreed to let Randy Scott come to his house but,
“When the person showed up, it was an older man. The man told him that he was the stepfather of the person the victim had been emailing. The subject said that he is protective of his stepson and has set up his stepson’s email to forward him all of the emails that they have been exchanging. The victim said that the man told him that he is going to call the Police unless the victim pleasured him sexually,” court documents stated.
Of course the bible thumping hypocrite “christians” at Bethel Temple Assembly Of God Church are offering their prayers and support for the Scott family
