IT'S BACK:  New COVID-19 Subvariant XBB Is Part of a ‘New Class’ of Omicron

Trump Administration Sent 17.8 TONS of PPEs to China to Combat Coronavirus in February While Calling It A Hoax

Six weeks ago in early February when Donald Trump and his administration was ignoring and calling the coronavirus here a hoax, he sent 17.8 TONS of PPEs including masks, gowns, gloves, and test kits to China according to an updated press release originally dated February 7th. on the state.gov website.

This week the State Department has facilitated the transportation of nearly 17.8 tons of donated medical supplies to the Chinese people, including masks, gowns, gauze, respirators, and other vital materials.  These donations are a testament to the generosity of the American people.

Today, the United States government is announcing it is prepared to spend up to $100 million in existing funds to assist China and other impacted countries, both directly and through multilateral organizations, to contain and combat the novel coronavirus.  This commitment – along with the hundreds of millions generously donated by the American private sector – demonstrates strong U.S. leadership in response to the outbreak.

This assistance only adds to what the United States has done to strengthen health security programs around the world.  For the last 20 years, the United States through USAID has invested over one billion dollars to strengthen the capacity of more than 25 countries to prevent, detect, and respond to existing and emerging infectious disease threats.  Since 2015, under our commitment to the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), this support has helped improve surveillance and laboratory systems, risk communication, outbreak response, and address the rising threat of anti-microbial resistance.

The United States is and will remain the world’s most generous donor. We encourage the rest of the world to match our commitment.  Working together, we can have a profound impact to contain this growing threat.

Information about the coronavirus in China was received by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on December 31st. and as late as February 28th. Donald Trump was publically insisting that virus was a hoax.

Now 6 weeks later in America state governments are begging for much needed ventilators and doctors and nurses are dying without much needed PPE’s. and in some cases using plastic garbage bags as protective gear.

Americans are now left to fend for themselves.

Leading LGBT Groups Fight Over Whether To Leave The Trans Bathroom Issue And Move On To LGBT Employment & Housing

Leading LGBT Groups Fight Over Weather To Leave The Trans Bathroom Issue And Move On To LGBT Employment & Housing

It is being reported that back in August of 2016 about two dozen of the country’s  leading LGBT advocacy groups held an “invitation-only” phone call to talk about the future of the LGBT movement and work on a disagreement that has divided them namely the transgender bathroom issue that has been the major blocking point in nondiscrimination laws that would protect LGBT citizens in housing and employment.

On the hour-and-a half phone call, one side of the self-appointed leaders argued they could make gains with Conservatives by accepting a compromise much like a bill in Pennsylvania that would ban LGBT discrimination in workplaces and housing — but not in public places, like restaurants and stores. Many on the call believe this could emerge as a model for other swing states where they’ve hit barricades — namely in Ohio, Florida, and Arizona, and North Carolina. But other groups like including the ACLU and the Human Rights Campaign (SHOCK), have argued the short-term gain approach for the LGB community in housing and job security could amount to entering a box canyon and take years to pass laws that provide public protections in the future for the transgender community on the bathroom issue— if ever. And leaving them out may even send a message that discrimination in public is acceptable.

The Gill Foundation which gave more than $6.5 million to LGBT causes in 2014, Freedom for All Americans and the National Center for Transgender Equality, contend this sort of compromise may be their only shot of winning civil rights for millions of LGBT people at the state level in the next decade, even if those gains are incomplete. Leaders of those organizations say they can return to these legislatures in the future to finish the job of passing public accommodations.

The ACLU sent a blunt letter to Pennsylvania lawmakers and organizations on June 10 letter detailing their objections to the compromise bill.

“It will not be lost on many in the advocacy and activist communities, as well as the LGBT-media, that dropping public accommodations now, in the midst of the current in-state and national conversation surrounding transgender people and restrooms/locker rooms, is compromising on critical protections because they are controversial,” said an ACLU memo obtained by Buzzfeed.

Surprisingly well known trans-activist  Mara Keisling, the executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, says that if they want to help transgender people in Pennsylvania and other Republican controlled states, they need to embrace the protections transgender people can get in housing and employment.

“Incrementalism is how policy gets done while other people are whining about incrementalism,” she said. “We have made it an have made an article faith over the past few years that if a bill lacks public accommodations, it’s useless. That’s not true.”

She said that was exactly the path employed by lawmakers in California, Nevada, and Hawaii — states where legislatures passed bills that lacked public accommodations or gender identity, then patched the holes years later. Those patches were passed between 2005 and 2011, before marriage and before conservatives pressed bathrooms and religious freedom as their most potent arguments.

“I am not timid,” Keisling said of this approach. “This is not timidity. This is about moving the ball as fast as you can.”

Whats your thoughts?

Is it alright to move the trans bathroom issues, an issues that effects just a small percentage of the LGBT community and has been essentially blocking other LGBT issues to the back burner and work on LGBT housing and employment protections which will protect thousands if not millions first and then go back to public accommodation issues?

NC HB2 RECAP: Governor McCrory Sues The Feds, DOJ Sues North Carolina, and NC AG Says “Enough Is Enough!”

No Carolina

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory and the state Department of Public Safety filed a lawsuit against the Department of Justice this morning over its demands that they repeal North Carolina’s anti-LGBT law calling the Justice Department’s position a “radical reinterpretation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.” saying that: “Transgender status is not a protected class under Title VII,” (Even though we all know that HB2 is about MORE than just bathrooms.)

“The Department’s position is a baseless and blatant overreach,” the lawsuit states. “This is an attempt to unilaterally rewrite long-established federal civil rights laws in a manner that is wholly inconsistent with the intent of Congress and disregards decades of statutory interpretation by the courts.”

From the New York Times

“The department contends that North Carolina’s common sense privacy policy constitutes a pattern or practice of discriminating against transgender employees in the terms and conditions of their employment because it does not give employees an unfettered right to use the bathroom or changing facility of their choice based on gender identity,” said Mr. McCrory’s lawsuit, which was filed in a Federal District Court in North Carolina. “The department’s position is a baseless and blatant overreach.” The Justice Department declined to comment on Monday.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the U.S. Department of Justice this afternoon also filed a lawsuit against Governor McCrory, the state’s Department of Public Safety, and the University of North Carolina and Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina. The U.S. Department of Justice also requested the judge prohibit the state from enforcing HB2 in regards to discriminating against transgender people.

Said Lynch:

“Access to sex-segregated restrooms and other workplace facilities consistent with gender identity is a term, condition or privilege of employment,” according to the May 4 letter from the Justice Department. “Denying such access to transgender individuals, whose gender identity is different from their gender assigned at birth, while affording it to similarly situated non-transgender employees, violates Title VII.”

Meanwhile North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper who has refused to prosecute any cases related to HB2or defend it in court had this to say:

Since Governor McCrory signed House Bill 2 into law just weeks ago, there has been a real and devastating impact on North Carolina’s economy and reputation. Already we have lost thousands of jobs and tens of millions of dollars in economic activity.

And now the governor is pouring gas on the fire that he lit and putting billions in education funding on the line. Instead of doing what’s right for our state, he’s doubling down on what he knows he did wrong. Enough is enough.

For decades, North Carolina has been a beacon in the south with great universities, technology and forward thinking leaders. But now, the governor is putting all that and more at risk with his partisan gamesmanship.

Governor, for the sake of our schools, our children, our economy, and our good name, set the politics aside and undo this discriminatory law now.

Happy New Year!  and KEEP CLICKING!

While Defense Secretary Gates Urges Repeal of DADT Obama Appoints New Marine Commandant Who’s Against It.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is URGING Congress to act before year’s end to repeal the ban on gays serving openly in the military. It’s a position  (SUPPOSEDLY) shared by his boss, the president also.  Then WHY has Obama appointed Gen. James Amos (pictured left) as the NEW Marine Commandant who is AGAINST the Repeal of DADT?

Amos told reporters in San Diego that he was concerned about a possible loss of unit cohesion and combat readiness if the ban is overturned.  “With U.S. troops — including 20,000 Marines — locked in a “tough fight” in Afghanistan, now is not the time to lift the “don’t ask, don’t tell” ban on homosexuals serving openly in the military”.  : “Combat, Amos said, is an “intimate” experience without parallel in civilian life. “We’re talking about our young men — laying out, sleeping alongside of one another and sharing death, fear and loss of brothers,” he said.

Obama is either an idiot, inept, or just an out and out two-faced liar when it comes down to his support of LGBT rights and his position on the DADT repeal.  I mean REALLY what kind of President chooses someone for a position who disagrees with him?

This is nothing more than further proof that our civil rights just aren’t that important over at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  If they ever were to begin with.

Live Health Care Summit Clusterf**k Action! (Now With Hash Tags!)

The White House has its official Health Care Summit Twitter hash tag. And the video is streaming for those of you who are the type that can’t look away from car wrecks on the highway.

Republicans demanded the public, on-camera summit, and then they dismissed it as political theater. (It was a refreshingly honest self-assessment of their strategy, actually.) Republicans also demanded that Barack Obama post his compromise bill online before the summit, and then they blasted him for posting a bill online before the summit. (Nothing as moronic as a Republicn politican is there?)

Okay so lets be real here and not mince words or get caught in spin.  This whole summit thing is a waste of time. It’s only purpose is to embarrass Republicans (and rightfuully so the DO deserve it) and give political cover to House Democrats to vote for this thing that they’re terrified of voting for, even though they already did and its turned into something that was well meaning in the beginning but has turned into something other than actual reform and a bill that would help those too poor for insurance. After all it used to be a health care plan, actually. It is now the Senate Health Insurance Reform bill.

This just really shows how dysfuntional our Goverment is.  And if you want proof at how crazy and insane Republicans are in todays session Republican Tom Coburn  blamed diabetes and obesity on food stamps.

This fucking thing is a nightmare.
