Brian Brown’s NOM and WCF Anti-Gay Protest At Mexican Embassy In DC Draws Whopping Crowd of 5 Homophobes

Brian Brown the former leader of the anti-LGBT hate group the National Organization for Marriage, and current leader of the the anti-gay hate group the World Congress of Familes (you need a scorecard kids) called for his evil minions followers to  gather in front of the Mexican Embassy in Washington, D.C. on Friday afternoon to denounce the continuing momentum towards marriage equality across Mexico, including a presidential proposal for federal marriage equality.

Only 5 homophobes showed up.

Speaking at the sparsely attended protest outside the Mexican Embassy, Diego von Stauffenberg of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) called for the “defense of natural marriage between one man and one woman.” He added that the “fabric of civic order would be weakened” by marriage equality. Stauffenberg additionally called for the “content and ideology” of LGBT-acceptance to be excluded from public education in Mexico.

NOM and the World Congress of Families (WCF), both of which are categorized as anti-LGBTQ hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center, organized the protest. An anti-equality rally dubbed the “National March for the Family” is expected to take place in Mexico City tomorrow. WCF’s new director Brian Brownshirt is expected to attend the march.

Can you really call it a protest when you draw fewer people than a Duggar family picnic?

NOM's Brian Brown(shirt) Elected New President of World Congress of Families Hate Group

With the anti-gay National Organization for Marriage dying a far too slow of a death after SCOTUS ruled same-sex marriage legal in every state of the union it was just a matter of time until President and resident rancid dough boy Brian Brown jumped ship to find a new home that pays for his open hatred of LGBT people.   Since Brownshirt has already worked with the viciously anti-LGBT World Congress of Families in a minor role in the past, today he makes a major leap in his anti-LGBT hate career and has been voted in as WCF’s new President.

Brown was elected at the recent World Congress of Families X conference in Tbilisi, Georgia. He will continue to serve as president of NOM. “I am honored that the Board of the World Congress of Families has elected me to serve as its president, and I look forward to continuing to work to advance the pro-family movement in the US and around the world,” Brown said. “Preserving and promoting the natural family as the core institution of society is an essential task if we are to build strong, stable, healthy communities.”

The World Congress of Families (WCF) is anchored in truths enshrined in the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which provides that, “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion” (article 18), and that, “The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State” (article 16(3)). WCF focuses on providing that protection to which the natural family is entitled, while also protecting the right to freedom of conscience and religion. WCF upholds the rule of law, condemns violence, and respects the dignity and rights of all.

“In recent years, secular leaders around the world have become obsessed with advancing so-called ‘alternative’ family structures. But there is no family structure more valuable and important to children and civilization as a whole than that of a married father and mother raising the children born of their union in an intact and loving family,” Brown said. “The natural family produces the best outcomes for society – promoting child health and well-being, encouraging marital happiness, enhancing economic prosperity, reducing delinquency and criminality, enhancing educational attainment, promoting spiritual growth, and securing liberty and human dignity. I look forward to contributing to WCF’s work to develop and advance pro-family policies around the world.”

WCF spreads LGBT hate on a global scale and has been to pushing an anti-LGBT agenda in such countries as Africa, Russia, Jamaica and the Ukraine.

Mediaite reports that even Megyn Kelly, Fox News’ own 21st Century’s version of Toyko Rose doesn’t suffer fools like the National Organization for Marriages’ hate group leader Brian Brown lightly.

On the heels of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore‘s order to halt same-sex marriage licenses in the state, an emboldened National Organization for Marriage decided to send a history major to do a lawyer’s job. Fox News anchor and experienced lawyer Megyn Kelly hosted Brian Brown (the NOM president, not the Australian guy from Cocktail) on Wednesday night’s The Kelly File to discuss Moore’s order. Brown was doing pretty well for himself until he started to say words, and then things went all haywire for him.

Remember this is the same Megyn Kelly who practically drools over Tony Per-KKK-ins.

It seems like Done & Gone aka Dolce and Gabbana have made some friends over that the anti-gay group The National Organization for Marriage.

On todays NOM blog:

While Dolce and Gabbana continue to be attacked as “hypocrites”, what their critics have failed to do is prove them wrong. Every child is born to and deserves to be raised by a committed, married father and mother, and same-sex marriage will always strip away at least one essential piece of the family.

Bravo to Dolce and Gabbana for daring to speak the truth; they are as bold in their speech as they are in their designs, and deserve to be applauded. While others will continue to vent their disagreement, the billionaire pair are wonderful advocates for the true definitions of marriage and family.

I, for one, cannot wait to see Maggie Gallagher  in her fabulous new tent frock.

National Organization for Marriage hate group President Brian Brownshirt has been exposed pushing the fake “Christian victim” agenda on audio tape telling other anti-gay groups to do the same thing.

Right Wing Watch reports that on a conference call in February about Arizona’s proposed “right to discriminate” bill, Brown counseled fellow anti-gay activists to turn accusations of bigotry and persecution around and accuse gay rights activists of “anti-religious” and “anti-Christian bigotry.”

Whether it’s being forced to photograph a ceremony that you don’t agree with, forced to create a same-sex marriage wedding cake that you don’t agree with, whatever it is, that’s a very different thing than saying this is somehow Jim Crow all over again. In fact, it’s the reverse. What proponents of same-sex marriage are attempting to do is to coerce Americans to leave their faith at the door when they enter the public square, leave their faith at the door if they own a business.

So, when they bring up discrimination, we need to turn it on its head and say, this is about anti-religious, specifically in some cases, anti-Christian religious bigotry, and there’s no place for this in this country. The discrimination is there, but right now what’s happening is the discrimination is coming from those that want to punish, repress and marginalize individuals and organizations that stand up for their religious beliefs.

And what they’re trying to do is to constrain religious liberty to a new term: freedom of worship. Well, our founders didn’t die and come here for freedom of worship, they came here for religious liberty, to practice in the public square, not only within their houses of worship what they believed, but to go out into the community and act on it. And this is one of the important points when we debate this, is to not accept this new language of quote-unquote ‘freedom of worship.’ We believe in religious liberty, we believe in freedom of conscience. We don’t accept the idea that people should be punished in the public square for trying to live out the Gospel call.

Jeremy Hooper of As Good As You has exposed The National Organization for Marriage’s (NOM)  launch of an international organization to promote anti-gay hate.

Writes Hooper:

We know NOM has moved forward with all of the other plans in those strategy documents (including the “drive a wedge” one); this is just a continuation of the international plan, with France being the first chess move in a larger, planetary onslaught on behalf of inequality. Because it’s NOM’s Earth, apparently—we just get discriminated within it.

This should come as a surprise to no one.  With support and money dwindling for NOM and Brian Brown’s million dollar paycheck, Brown took a  recent trip to Paris, where he enthusiastically reported on the French anti-gay marriage demonstrations.

Hooper goes on to note that internal NOM documents released last year confirm that NOM has been planning the creation of International Organization for Marriage since at least 2008-09.

And while French ‘traditional marriage’ opponents are amping up the violent rhetoric, promising blood will be spilled over equality and gay bashing is on the rise.  Brian Brownshirt and NOM remain silent on the violence.

I appeared on the AlterNet News radio show this weekend hosted by the awesome Joshua Holland and discuss  President Obama’s mention of Stonewall and Tony Perkins, Bryan Brownshirt , Buster Wilson aand the whole “hate gang” and their ridiculous anti-gay meme “Gays have all the rights as everyone else.”  (Buster???   Really?)

Also on the show is Eric Boehlert of Media Matters who has a good laugh at the GOP’s bizarre freakout over Obama’s inaugural speech, and to discuss his recent piece, ” Are Conservatives Rethinking Fox News’ Endless Outrage Model?” and AlterNet’s own Steve Rosenfeld who discusses this week’s court ruling that Obama’s recess appointments to the National labor Relations Board were unconstitutional, and the new Republican plan to gerrymander the Electoral College.

It’s a great show and  I recommend listening to the whole thing. (But if you only have time for me I come on right at the 30:00 minute mark.)

Brian BrownWith the National Organization for Marriage hate group’s MASSIVE FAIL as of late thwarting same -sex marriage, NOM President Brian Brownshirt has traveled to France to spew hateful lies and propaganda as that country sits on the cusp of legalizing same-sex marriage.

Said Brownshirt:

To read the news accounts in the U.S., you would think gay marriage is inevitable here. Like everywhere. That’s what they always say, right? And only 3 days ago Brian Brown was whining about “out-of-state” agitators sticking their noses into the issue of same -sex marriage in Illinois and here he is in Paris.  Alone and crying. While jerking off to hotel porn as he stuffs his face with French pastry while spittle and crumbs fall from his chins issuing press releases full of lies.

To stay ever (ir)relevent and ever hateful. NOM president Brian Brownshirt, , is launching a campaign for all anti-gay Americans to eat at Chick-fil-A every Wednesday from now until the election so “Christians” can win the election!

“It was as if August 1 was an election day. Except the voters — people of faith, hundreds of thousands of them — didn’t go to polling places. They went to Chick-fil-A. And they weren’t voting with ballots. They were voting with their presence, and their wallets. [snip] But the public nature of Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day is different from the privacy of the voting booth.

“We heard from hundreds of people who were heartened to see the long lines — vivid confirmation that they are not alone, that a strong majority of Americans agree with them that the institution of marriage as the union of a man and a woman is worth defending. People were grateful to belong to a community where they could openly meet with like-minded citizens and talk about marriage, family, and the truth of God’s design for society.”

NOM has launched a call to Americans to eat at Chick-fil-A not just once, but every Wednesday through the election. It will benefit a noble family-owned business and, moreover, help people to build on the sense of community that so many of them were surprised to experience last week. We’re encouraging people to go to www.thankchickfila.com to register their support, and then to bring their family, friends, and church groups every Wednesday to enjoy some great chicken, and some wonderful camaraderie in the community of faith. Go before or after church services, have your Bible-study group meet at the restaurant, bring your book club, etc. Whatever you do on Wednesdays, do it at Chick-fil-A.

Anyone else wonder how much of a right-wing welfare kickback Dan Cathy is going to give Brian Brown and NOM?
