October 9th…..

1957: 22-year-old Johnny Mathis sings Chances Are on American Bandstand.  To this date the openly gay Mathis has sold over 350 Million records worldwide.

1993: Following his retirement in 1993, Episcopal Bishop E. Otis Charles became the first Christian bishop to come out of the closet at the age of 67. He served as a bishop of Utah from 1971-1986. He went on to marry Dr. Felipe Sanchez-Paris and become a prominent gay rights activist.

1993:  Rev. Billy Graham apologizes for calling the AIDS epidemic an act of divine judgement by God during a sermon in Columbus, Ohio.

His remarks on AIDS were made in a sermon in Columbus, Ohio during a crusade in late September. A record-breaking crowd of 44,300 in Cooper Stadium heard Graham warn people about falling into disfavor with God because of their sins. He cited sins such as drunkenness and sexual immorality, among others.

‘Is AIDS a judgment of God?’ Graham asked. ‘I could not say for sure, but I think so.’

Graham said later in a telephone interview about his AIDS remark, ‘I don’t believe that and I don’t know why I said it. I do believe God stands in judgment of all sins … but AIDS is a disease that affects people and is not part of that judgment. To say God has judged people with AIDS would be very wrong and very cruel. I would like to say that I am very sorry for what I said.’

He reportedly recanted the statements by saying, “I don’t believe that, and I don’t know why I said it.”

1998: South Africa officially repealed its sodomy law, residual legislation from former Colonial British rule. Originally ruled unconstitutional in May of that year, South Africa’s highest court confirmed the ruling on this date.  South Africa is the continents only gay friendly destination  and was the fifth country in the world, to legalize same-sex marriage.

1998: The Netherlands sanctions adoption by same-sex couples as long as they meet the same criteria required of heterosexual couples.

1998: South Africa Strikes Down Sodomy Law: South Africa’s penal code defined sodomy as a Schedule 1 offense, like murder or rape, and was punishable by life imprisonment. The ruling, written by Judge Lori Ackerman with a concurring ruling by Judge Albie Sachs, held that the current law violated South Africa’s new post-Apartheid 1996 constitution and made South Africa one of the first countries in the world to outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation

1999: Lesbian politician Ulrike Lunacek becomes the first openly gay member of Austrian Parliament, serving with the Austrian Green party. She now serves as a co-President of the Intergroup on LGBT Rights, an organization that works for the rights of LGBT people within the European Parliament..

2002:  Lesbian serial killer Aileen Wournos (7 murders in one year) is executed in Florida. During her trail The Lesbian Avengers  “a direct action group focused on “issues vital to lesbian survival and visibility” in NYC runs a “Free Aileen Wournos” campaign out of NYC’s GLBT Community Center not because Wournos is innocent, but just because she is a woman and a lesbian.

The Lesbian Avengers never recover fully from their loss of credibility over this action.

Reverend Billy Graham Dead at 99. What The Mainstream News Is Not Saying

Evangelist Billy Graham, deemed “America’s Pastor,” has died at the age of 99 reports the Associated Press.

Graham’s giant Southern California tent revivals in 1949 would become widely recognized as the beginning of the modern Evangelical movement.

Since his ministry began in 1947, Graham conducted more than 400 crusades in 185 countries and territories on six continents. The first Billy Graham Crusade, held September 13–21, 1947, in the Civic Auditorium in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was attended by 6,000 people. Graham was 28 years old. He called them crusades, after the medieval Christian forces who conquered Jerusalem. He would rent a large venue, such as a stadium, park, or street. As the sessions became larger, he arranged a group of up to 5,000 people to sing in a choir. He would preach the gospel and invite people to come forward (a practice begun by Dwight L. Moody). Such people were called inquirers and were given the chance to speak one-on-one with a counselor, to clarify questions and pray together. The inquirers were often given a copy of the Gospel of John or a Bible study booklet. In Moscow, in 1992, one-quarter of the 155,000 people in Graham’s audience went forward at his call. During his crusades, he has frequently used the altar call song, “Just As I Am”.[

Billy Graham while not as rabidly homophobic as others evangelicals of his time like Jerry Falwell, (Graham refused to join Jerry Falwell’s Moral Majority in 1979, saying: “I’m for morality, but morality goes beyond sex to human freedom and social justice.”) Graham was nonetheless deeply opposed to homosexuality.

In 1974, a young woman wrote Graham saying that she was attracted to another woman. He wrote back, “Your affection for another of your own sex is misdirected and will be judged by God’s holy standards,” and also told the woman she could be “healed” of her same-sex attraction through belief in Christ.

In 1993, Graham also callously said  that AIDS was punishment from God. “’ls AIDS a judgment of God” he said while preaching in Columbus, Ohio. “l could not be sure, but I think so.” He quickly backtracked, telling Cleveland’s Plain Dealer newspaper two weeks later, ”l don’t believe that and I don’t know why I said it. I remember saying it, and I immediately regretted it and almost went back and clarified the statement. …  God stands in judgment of all sins, but AIDS is a disease that affects people and is not part of that judgment. To say that God has judged people with AIDS would be very wrong and cruel. I would like to say that I am very sorry for what I said.”

In 2012, he endorsed an anti-marriage equality constitutional amendment in his home state of North Carolina. “At 93, I never thought we would have to debate the definition of marriage,” Graham wrote in a full-page advertisement. “The Bible is clear — God’s definition of marriage is between a man and a woman. I want to urge my fellow North Carolinians to vote FOR the marriage amendment on Tuesday, May 8.” Voters approved the amendment, which was nullified by a federal court ruling in 2014 but remains part of the North Carolina constitution.

He also once said, “Let me say this loud and clear, we traffic in homosexuality at the peril of our spiritual welfare,” as quoted by the U.K.’s Pink News.

Franklin Graham Urges Anti-Gay Bigots Not To Stop Fighting Against Gay Rights

Franklin Graham

Franklin Graham, the son of notorious televangelist Billy Graham attended this years  Awakening Conference last week which is nothing more than a gathering of America’s most notorious and anti-gay religious extremist

Proving that this group of vicious homophobe “Christians” just hate gay people and care nothing about God, Graham Junior railed against pastors and churches for giving up on condemning homosexuality:

“Let me tell you something. A lot of pastors have quit preaching against homosexuality. You know why? I’ll tell you why. Because they are afraid that there may be some man or woman in the congregation whose son or daughter is gay.

“Don’t shut up, guys. You don’t shut up. If the people that are coming after you, ‘yak, yak, yak,’ and they want to run you out of church, then let them run you out of church. Go to another church, let them have that church. I’ll tell you what, God will bless you and he’ll honor you if you speak up and you tell the truth.

“There’s a battle to fight. And the battle, listen, it’s not against flesh and blood, all right? This is a spiritual battle. We’re fighting Satan and his demons and let me tell you something, they have got their way into government, they have got their way into every level of our government.”

The rotten hateful apple doesn’t fall from the tree.

Billy Graham’s Demon Spawn Franklin Graham: Mitt Romney Is America’s Last Chance To Please God!

Billy Graham’s equally bigoted hateful and delusional son Franklin Graham – Cracker (And I do mean crackerr in every sense of the word) , today wrote for the Charisma  News that voting for Romney will make God happy.

“When America’s leaders actively promote and legislate immorality, restrict the religious freedoms that our country was founded on, and are openly hostile to men and women of faith, then I believe we are ripe for God’s judgment. So pray and then vote on Nov. 6, asking God for His mercy and grace upon our land. There’s still time to turn from our wicked ways so that He might spare us from His wrath against sin. Just about one year from now—in November 2013—we will be holding one of the largest evangelistic events ever in this country, My Hope with Billy Graham. My father believes God has allowed him to live this long—he will be 95 then—so that he can participate in this massive undertaking to bring the gospel to our nation using television, Internet, training, and partnership with local churches. This could be America’s last call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, who is coming again one day very soon to save His own and to judge those who don’t know and worship Him.”

Didn’t his father lock him in a hot shed as punishment when he was a teenager? Spare the rod indeed.
