Tower of Babble: Alabama Baptist Convention Prays Against Same-Sex Couples

Ginter Park Baptist church

Because they have nothing else to pray over and worry about like perhaps world peace, ending hunger, and helping their fellow man. The Alabama Baptist Convention earlier this week issued a resolution in which they pray for the state’s probate judges to refuse to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

WHEREAS, Court decisions during the past several months have effectively abolished biblical marriage as the only legally sanctioned form in numerous other states across our nation; and

WHEREAS, The effect of the panel’s ruling is that on Monday, February 9, 2015, Alabama will become the 37th state in which marriage licenses must be issued by probate offices upon request to same-sex couples; and

WHEREAS, Several Probate Judges have expressed plans to no longer officiate for wedding ceremonies; and

WHEREAS, A landmark decision from the U.S. Supreme Court is expected within a few months regarding marriage and same-sex couples; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, meeting in Montgomery on February 6, 2015, expresses moral outrage, intense grief and strong disagreement over court rulings that have set our culture in a direction against the biblical definition of marriage; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we offer prayer and personal support for those Probate Judges who, exercising their personal religious liberties, conscientiously object to the affirmation of the marriage of same-sex couples; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we will pray for those with whom we disagree, specifically those who advocate the abolition of biblical marriage as the only legally sanctioned form; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we commit to pray for the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court who are expected this year to issue a landmark ruling that could abolish the sole legality of biblical marriage throughout our nation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we encourage Alabama Baptists and all Christians to continue to be faithful to the biblical definition of marriage and that we call for sincere repentance, earnest prayer and a commitment to seek God’s face for a spiritual and moral awakening in America.

Blah blah blah blah blah ……….

The REAL “Biblical definition of marriage” …

1 Kings 11:

King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites…… 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines.

Busy man.

Kentucky Baptist Convention Starves Children To Ensure Religious Exemption Written Into LGBT Equality Ordinance

Fuck You!

The Danville Kentucky City Commission has altered a proposed gay rights ordinance as to exempt religious groups from following the law and thus writing in legal discrimination into law after a Baptist-affiliated organization threatened to leave the city if passed in its original form.

At the commission’s meeting last month, an attorney for Sunrise Children’s Services said it would move its child care center out of Danville if the ordinance did not include an exemption. A move that was orchestrated by the Kentucky Baptist Convention who blacklisted the agency for a short time late last year.

The trouble started with  Sunrise’s then-president and CEO, Bill Smithwick, who suggested that the group end its ban on hiring gay people. Smithwick reasoned that, with LGBT nondiscrimination legislation on the horizon, Sunrise’s anti-gay policies could cause the charity to lose its taxpayer funding, which accounts for about 85 percent of its operating budget.  Kentucky’s Baptist community, however, wasn’t so enthusiastic. And as soon as Smithwick introduced the proposal, the Kentucky Baptist Convention encouraged its affiliates to blacklist Sunrise and hold back donations until it abandoned its proposed nondiscrimination policy. Church donors across the state immediately began withholding their usual contributions, refusing to donate a penny to an organization that might hire openly gay people.

Sunrise relented and went back to its discriminatory practices after the blacklisting caused a major funding shortfall for the organization.

Then at the Danville City commission’s meeting last month the Kentucky Baptist Convention used the child care services organization as a pawn in a power play when the attorney for Sunrise Children’s Services said it would move its child care center out of Danville if the ordinance did not include an religious exemption because it would lose funding once again from the Baptists.

The Danville City Commission changed the proposed ordinance on Tuesday. The commission voted 3-2 in favor of the revised ordinance on its first reading Tuesday.

The commission will vote on a second reading next month

How “Christian” of the Kentucky Baptist to threaten to starve children in order to able to remain bigoted against the LGBT community.

Predominantly White Baptist Church In Mississippi Refuses To Marry Black Couple – Video

Just two days before their scheduled wedding, Charles and Te’Andrea Wilson were forced to change venues after the Rev. Stan Weatherford told them that some church members were uncomfortable with the black couple getting married in the  predominantly white church  First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs, Mississippi.

The 150-year-old church hasn’t had any black couples married there in modern times.

Mississippi Baptist Convention Executive Director the Rev. Jim Futral said what happened was “unfortunate“:  “It’s  not reflective of the spirit of the Lord and  Mississippi Baptists,”  Futral said. “It’s just a step backward. … It’s a sad thing.”

(feinging surprise) Racism and Homophobia both in the Baptist Church and in Mississippi.  It just can’t be!

Pastor Charles “Put Gays In Concentration Camps” Whorley Dodges Questions From Media

Over the weekend Back2Stonewall reported about Pastor Charles Whorley who in one of his sermons stated that “gays should be out in concentration camps and starved to death” and the protest against him which drew over 1200+ protesters in North Carolina against Whorley over the weekend.

CNN now has an updated report about the protest which includes video of Whorley dodging questions, Whorley’s insane parishinors “The Whorleybirds” and the fact that Whorley now has “bodyguards” that are carrying guns for the miscreants protection just puts the histrionic icing on this evil bigots cake.
