First Business Leaves Georgia After Sweeping Anti-Gay Bill Passes: ‘We don’t tolerate that crap’

The Decatur, GA based 373K Telcom company announced it would be leaving via Twitter. Its founders are outraged over the states First Amendment Defense Act, which has nothing to do with the First Amendment and extends legal cover state-wide to individuals and corporations to discriminate against LGBT people and same-sex couples.

373K Client Relations Manager Brian Greene said the company no longer feels comfortable paying taxes in Georgia.

“I’m gay, our CFO is gay, we have people from every walk of life working here,” co-founder Kelvin Williams told NCRM on Saturday. “I’ve got Muslims, Buddhists, atheists here. We’ve got great Christians working for us. They’ve never thought of not serving anyone – that’s not the message of Christ.”

“We don’t tolerate that crap,” he added definitively.

Four major LGBT supportive Fortune 500 companies: The Home Depot, United Parcel Service (UPS),  The Coca-Cola Company, and  Delta Air Lines, are headquartered in Atlanta as well as AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead which films in the state.

The Tourism industry in Georgia is the 5th largest employer in the state with a total economic impact of $53.6 billion.

Man Attacked In Atlanta Georgia For Saying He Was Gay

A gay couple were accosted and one of them attacked on their way to the party in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday night after being asked if they were gay.

A statement from APD spokesperson Carlos Campos.

“It appears a gay couple was walking near 361 17th St. (Atlantic Station) when they were approached by an unknown male. The male asked the couple if they were gay. When the couple replied yes, the male punched one of them in the face, then fled on foot. Officers responded. The victim was advised to go to the hospital for examination. Nothing further as to extent of injuries. No arrest has been made. LGBT Unit notified,” he said.

Paul Swicord, an activist with Lost-n-Found Youth and a friend of the victim, said only one person was attacked.

Swicord said he is not revealing the name of the victim because the man asked for time to notify his family and his employer of the incident.  The victim made it to his destination, where Swicord consoled him, and stayed with him while he spoke with Atlantic Station Security and Atlanta police, and accompanied him to the emergency room

“He is out of the closet, he just wants to be the first to tell his mother so she does not read it in the media first,” Swicord said in a statement to media on Sunday evening.

According to Swicord, the Atlantic Station security officer where the attack occurred who he and the victim spoke with was reluctant to help.

After taking some information, the security guard said it would be 3-6 weeks before a report could be made available and to review the video footage. I tried to take a photo of the security guard so that I would have a record of who we had spoke with. He held his hand up and blocked my camera phone and blocked the photo. There was no compassion in this security officer for the victim.  He was reluctant to take a report and document the incident.

The victim described his attacker as “white male, short brown hair, with a muscular build,” who is between 5’9″ and 6 feet tall. The attacker was accompanied by an attractive white woman with brown hair,

Down Low Sexual Predator Pastor Eddie Long Will "Mediate" Case Out Of Court – AC360 Video

Atlanta’s pompous and self righteous MegaChurch Pastor Eddie Long who has continued his bleating of “innocence” against charges that he took sexual advantage of four young men has decided :to avoid having his personal business divulged in a big trial, (like that he’s a big ole nasty down low sex predator) has agreed to enter mediation with his four accusers over charges of “sexual coercion.”  Long will probably insist he agreed to mediation to avoid an ugly court battle that would harm the reputation of his church and his congregation, and that would be a reasonable concern … for an innocent man that is. 

So it’s truly worth noting that the four men accusing Long of sexual misconduct have not sought out media attention. Though their attorney has given statements to the press, the PR campaign against Long began only after he refused private overtures to settle the matter. Also , the men have only given interviews to reporters when they were ambushed at their homes, not during scheduled and purposeful interviews.  So any attestation by Long that this is false extortion does not seem to fit.

Can we say…….GUILTY?

Georgia Megachruch Pastor Jim Swilley Comes Out Of The Closet To Take A Stand Over LGBT Bullying and Suicide – Video Report

Jim Swilley is 52 years olf and founded  Rockdale County’s Mega Church,  “Church in theNow” over 25 years ago. His wife, Debye, the associate pastor, and his four children at his side. Jim Swilley came out of the closet Wedensday and announced to his congreation that he is gay.
Swilley says he’s known that he’s gay since he was a boy, and his wife knew when they got married. Jim and Debye are now divorced, but they kept his secret for more than 21 years. Earlier this year, Swilley says, Debye told him she thought it was time he stop living a lie.

Swilley says he decided she was right after reading stories about kids being harassed by antigay bullies and committing suicide. “As a father, thinking about your 16-, 17-year-old killing themselves, I thought somebody needed to say something,” he told WSB TV in Atlanta.

BRAVO to Jim Swilley. Despite the “conservatibe christian” past to be true to himself and come out without being forced out AND bring a spotlight on the tragedies that have been happening.  That takes REAL GUTS.

Atlanta Police Purposely Destroyed Evidence Pertaining to Raid on Atlanta Gay Bar

It’s come to light today that  Atlanta police purposely destroyed evidence pertaining to the 2009 raid on the Atlanta Eagle gay bar, which also just happened to be the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
Attorneys for the bar and its patrons state the following, in a federal lawsuit

Their attorneys complained in court filings, which include transcripts of telephone conferences with the judge, that evidence was purposely destroyed. Electronic backups of e-mails were recorded over. Text messages and photos taken on cell phones are simply gone. According to the court documents, the cell phone data was erased just days after U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten ordered the data turned over to the Atlanta Eagle’s lawyers.

“Throughout this litigation the defendants [the city and APD] and their counsel have acted as if the rules, the law and even the orders of this court simply do not apply to them,” attorney Daniel Grossman wrote

So now the Atlanta Police are guilty of contempt of court, obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence.

Anti-gay African American Pastor Eddie Long Of New Birth Missionary Baptist MegaChurch Charged With Coercing Two Teenaged Males Into Having Gay Sex

Atlanta, Georgia’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Mega-Church (which has 25,000 to 33,300 parishioners according to the church’s Web site.) Pastor Eddie Long, who Southern Poverty Law Center’s magazine named ‘one of the most virulently homophobic black leaders in the religiously based anti-gay movement.'” has been charged of coercing two young male members and employees of his church into having gay sex.  The two men now 20, and 21 years old state  in a lawsuit brought in Dekalb, Georgia that Long used his authority improperly and pressured them, via his spiritual authority to seduce them with cars, money, clothes, jewelry, international trips and access to celebrities.” and coerce them into sex.

“Long is considered one of the nation’s top black preachers. His church has more 25,000 members, according to the suit, and was the site of Coretta Scott King’s 2006 funeral, attended by then-President George W. Bush and three previous presidents. King was the widow of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The pastor took one plaintiff, Anthony Flagg, 21, on overnight trips to a half-dozen American cities in recent years, Flagg’s suit alleges. ‘Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact,’ the suit says. Long took the other plaintiff, Maurice Murray Robinson, 20, to Auckland, New Zealand, in October 2008 for his 18th birthday and engaged in oral sex with him, Robinson’s suit alleges. The suits also said that Long framed the sexual relationships as religious in nature. The suits allege that Long chose the plaintiffs to be his “Spiritual Sons,” a program that allegedly includes other young men from the church.” – via CNN

Yesterday over at the Joe. My. God Blog a comment was left by someone who called themselves “Jimmy” that read “All Faggots Must Die” (Here the initial details )

Well obviously the person who left it wasn’t too bright and didn’t realize that when you leave a comment your IP Address (In this case IP: 156.33.20.72.)  is recorded and with a bit of cybergeek sleuthing the message can be traced back to where it originally sent from.  And in this case of gay hate murder messages the message originated from none other than the Atlanta office of Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss of Gerogia.. (pictured left)

Wow!  Just WOW!

Joe’s latest update on this reads:

“I’ve just gotten off the phone with Atlanta Journal-Constitution political writer Jim Galloway who says that Sen. Saxby Chambliss has confirmed that the “All faggots must die” comment left here on JMG earlier today did indeed come from his Atlanta office. Galloway reports that Chambliss told him his office is conducting an internal investigation.”

But of course good ole boy Saxby is not taking responsibility.

Hate speech and hate crimes against us are up, everyday now you read more and more about it. And everyday its allowed to happen and be gotten away with the more they will do it.  My honest opinion is that he slow walking of our civil rights by the Obama Administration, the HRC, and others have enabled this kind of behavior, by giving them so much time for their hate to fester. 

NOW is not the time to play softball or slow walk with issues like thi of the fight for our rights.  And if anything the past two years and what happened yesterday is proof positive that we NEED to stand up and scream, shout, and expose homophobia and DEMAND our rights.

We need to PUSH the PRESS on issues like this and our Equal Rights.  Contact the Press over this matter.  Contact your Local and National Media, send them links and them them that Incendiary Hate Speech and calls of Homosexual Murder have originated from a UNITED STATES SENATORS OFFICE!

Atlanta Citizen Review Board Rule Police Broke The Law In Raid Of Atlanta Gay Bar The Eagle On The 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots

The Atlanta Citizen Review Board has ruled that police broke the law and violated civil rights when it raided the Atlanta Eagle gay bar alittle over a year ago on the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

The Citizen Review Board considered two different issues for each of the 24 Atlanta police officers who were part of the raid on the Atlanta Eagle. The first involved charges of false imprisonment. The board found officers had no legal right to search, detain, and run criminal database checks on the 60+ patrons, because none were suspected of any crime. The second issue, abusive language, wasn’t so easy. Although both CRB investigators and the board agreed officers likely used abusive and homophobic language, they couldn’t identify responsible officers. The board, unwillingly, agreed not to sustain those charges. Because the maximum penalty is a three-day suspension, the board tabled disciplinary action. Members want tougher sanctions.”  – WABE

With ll the news abouyt Prop 8 we’ve negegleted updated on The National Orgabization For Marriage’s “One Man, One Woman” HATE-apolooza  the past few days.

One would think that thier demented lemming supporters would be arllying around them after Prop 8 was overturned but that turns out to be a BIG NO with BOTH the St. Louis, MO and Atlanta, GA being BOG OLE’ BUSTS even despite the fact that NOM dug up Dr. Martin Luther Kings homophobic niece, Alveda King  to speak at the GA event.

The day after Judge Vaugh Walker overturned Prop 8 NOM was pissed.  Despite the fact that the St. Louis NOM rally was held ina  PUBLIC SPACE, the grassy area between the St. Louis County Courthouse and one of the revenue buildings.  Brian Brown and NOM somehoe managed to dupe St. Louis police into turning the rally into a private event setting up barracades and thus not letting anyone who seemed gay near th actual event.

A gay couple were not allowed in. When they asked why, they were told it’s because they are holding hands.  The officers have been told to ask people questions to feel out if they’re a part of “the group.”Interestingly enough one NOM supporter -offended that we were denied access- approached the officer and compained on the LGBT Community’s behalf (To no avail)

Oh and the count?  35 NOM Rally attendees – 214  Gay Equality supporters

NOM headed to Atlanta and brought out thier BIG GUNS.  They managed to dig up Dr, martin Luther Kings homophobic niece Alveda King (pictured left) to speak at the event. I personally cannot tell you how disgusting and stupid that I think this woman is and I wiag that her uncle was around to smack the living shit out of her. 

The one thing I do want to remind everyone of is  that Cloetta Scott-King The widow of Martin Luther King Jr. has called gay marriage a civil rights issue, denouncing a proposed constitutional amendments that have banned it.

“Gay and lesbian people have families, and their families should have legal protection, whether by marriage or civil union,” she said. “A constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages is a form of gay bashing and it would do nothing at all to protect traditional marriages.”

And what did Alveda King say?  “I don’t know about you but I’m not ready to be extinct,it is statistically proven” that marriage between one man and one woman is the foundation of society

Her Uncle is rolling in his grave.
