TARGET Launches Line of Gay Pride T-Shirts – Seriously?

TARGET  who just two years ago, Target was under fire for its donations to MN Forward, a  Republican PAC supporting anti-gay candidate Tom Emmer is now selling a line of Gay Pride-themed T-shirts (only) online this year, which TARGET spokesman say grew out  of “a grass-roots effort among employees and the company’s LGBTA (lesbian, gay,  bisexual, transgender and allies) Business Council”.

The T-Shirts, ten in all are featured on Target’s website . Two  feature a design by  Gwen Stefani, which reads, “Love is  love.” Each Pride T-shirt sells for $12.99, all of which will be donated to the  Family Equality Council. Donation will capped at $120,000.

TARGET gave outright the GOP Political Pac which supported anti-gay Tom Emmer $150,000.00

Family Equality Council’s Jennifer Christler insists that Targets past donations to Tom Emmer and anti-gay Republican PAC’s had nothing to do with it.

“I certainly recognize what an incredible  reaction [the Emmer-related donation] generated,” said Jennifer Chrisler, the  council’s executive director. “But here’s what I know about TARGET and their  work with us: They’re 100 percent committed to the goal of families being  respected in all communities including parents who happen to be LGBT. This is  just a continuation of that support.”

With that being said where does TARGET stand on Minnesota’s impending ballot measure that would constitutionally ban same-sex  marriage in their corporate headquarters state?

A non-committal one as the Star Tribune reports:

Target, the $70 billion cheap chic retailer, hasn’t taken a public stand on the  amendment. In a statement, the company notes its “long history” of supporting  the LGBT community but acknowledges “there is a broad range of strongly held  views on the [Minnesota] Marriage Amendment.” The company goes on to encourage  employees to exercise their right to vote.

Just the fact that TARGET is selling these shirts online ONLY is akin to sitting on the back of the bus.   They clearly want your money but they don’t want the bulk of thier in-store customers to see that they are  selling these tee shirts and TARGET has never apologized for the Emmer donation and still donates to GOP Pacs and politicians.

TARGET obviously wants it both ways but in reality is doing NOTHING in Minnesota or to actual advance  equal protection for LGBT citizens.

Don’t buy TARGET’s  bullshit and don’t buy these ugly assed tee shirts.

Video: BUSTED! Newt Gingrich Questioned Over Donating Money To Hate Group

Igor Volsky of the Wonk Room confronted Newt Gingrich today about hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations he has made to the American Family Association,  which has been designated a hate group like the KKK by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

When Volsky pressed Gingrich about why he would fund a group that wants the criminalization of homosexuals and the use of reparative therapy as a “gay cure”, Gingrich refused to answer, but continued on by saying that the AFA is not a hate group:

“You’ve just made a whole series of assertions that I’m not going to automatically accept your description of an organization that has a million and five hundred thousand members or more…The only thing I’ve done, which I was perfectly happy to defend, is I did help raise resources for a campaign to defeat three judges in Iowa. […] You bring a series of allegations that I can’t check about a group that is largely a Christian based membership group, that is fairly widespread in its membership and I suspect most of those people do not in any way think of themselves as a hate group even if that’s how you would characterize them.”

Gingrich.  I am sure that many Nazi’s didn’t think of themselves as evil either.  But I’m sure that you can relate to that.

Oh, and by the way.  The KKK was and is ALSO largely a Christian-based organization you  twice-divorced/thrice married, cheating, lying, no-neck bobblehead.

Reality or Scam? – "Porno Pete" LaBarbera To Push Illinois Anti- Gay Marriage Petition. (Pssst. It’s A SCAM)

A few years ago the officially recognized anti-gay hate group the Illinois Family Institute, then run by undercover leatherman “Porno Pete” LaBarbera now of infamous Americans for Truth About Homosexuality set up the website called Protect Marriage Illinois  when they laughingly and unsuccessfully tried to get a anti-gay marriage referendum on the ballot because of failing to gather enough valid signatures.  (And many of the ones they did gather were that of people who didn’t exist, were dead, and just outright fraudulent)

After years of inactivity Protect Marriage Illinois now has a placard that reads ‘Citizen Petitions to Protect Marriage in Illinois’ is coming soon, with the Americans for Truth email as a contact.” (Hello Porno Pete!)

So here we go again.  Bit its not as bad as it seems. And its all part of a publicity stunt by LaBarbera the anti gay huckster. He must be short on Right Wing Welfare funds.

Other than the fact that same-sex marriages already cannot be legally entered into in Illinois.  Voter referendums in Illinois are advisory only.  And all constitutional amendments must originate in the Legislature.  Also Illinois sets the bar very high to avoid the debacle seen in many other states where voters (not the legislature) vote on often superfluous measures tailored to benefit special interests which is why you never see NOM throwing away money in Illinois.

 It’s a meaningless exercise and you can bet that good ol’ Porno Pete isn’t making that clear to potential donors that its all for nothing and it’s only to pad his email list and get some extra donations.

Charlatan, grifter, crook, fraud and huckster.

EXPOSED: Chick-Fil-A’s Anti-Gay Donations Exceed Over 1.1 MILLION Dollars And Counting

Equality Matters has done an in-depth investigation  into Chick-fil-A’s donations to anti-LGBT organizations, and  traces the money in an in-depth report:  And guess what?  It’s much more than the “few Chicken sandwiches” that were supposedly donated that owner Dan Cathy stated. To the tune of over 1 MILLION DOLLARS including donations to officially recognized Southern Law Poverty Center hate groups like the Family Research Center.

“When two Missouri organizations, the Clayton Chamber of Commerce and FOCUS St. Louis, decided earlier this month to cancel a presentation by Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy over his company’s controversial affiliations, they made the right decision. Although Cathy has unequivocally denied being anti-LGBT and claimed that he and the company have ‘no agenda against anyone’ and ‘will not champion any political agendas on marriage and family,’ Equality Matters research proves just the opposite. In fact, the company has strong, deep ties to anti-gay organizations like Focus on the Family and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and its charitable division has provided more than $1.1 million to organizations that deliver anti-LGBT messages and promote egregious practices like reparative therapy that seek to ‘free’ people of being gay.

Chick-Fil-A’s employment practices have also been exposed as hostile to “Sinful” candidates. Chick-fil-A requires potential franchise operators to disclose their marital status, number of dependents, and involvement in social, church, and other organizations. Employees may be fired for engaging in “sinful” behavior, and Truett Cathy has said he aims to hire only workers who are married.

BUSTED – Newt Gingrich Donates 125K Directly To Officially Recognized Hate Group American Family Association

It’s now being exposed that Newt Gringrich has funneled more than $125,000.00 to the officially recognized hate group “American Family Association to remove three sitting Supreme Court justices in Iowa over their ruling in favor of marriage equality.

Gingrich’s group, Renewing American Leadership funneled the money to the AFA which has bragged that his group was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on the effort in Iowa.
Gingrich, the former U.S. House speaker who has aggressively courted the conservatives who dominate Iowa’s lead-off presidential caucuses, raised the money for the political arm of Restoring American Leadership, also known as ReAL.

That group then passed $125,000 to American Family Association Action and an additional $25,000 to the Iowa Christian Alliance — two of the groups that spent millions before last November’s elections that removed three of the state’s seven state Supreme Court justices. The court had unanimously decided a state law restricting marriage to a man and a woman violated Iowa’s constitution

Newt who wants to be President  married one woman whom he abandoned when she was riddled with cancer on her hospital bed while you fuck the shit out of your mistress whom you later marry and cheat on her with a third woman.

Back in the early/mid 90’s, when Gingrich wanted to “bring back shame”. 

 Look at him, he proves that it never left.

BUSTED AGAIN: Over Thee-Quarters of ALL Political Contribution Made By Target In 2010 Went To Anti-Gay Candidates

It turns out that even after being busted earlier in the year over 75% of donations made by Target’s political action committee in the 2010 election cycle funded anti-gay right,, right wing pro-business politicians According to the website  TheAwl.com

In August after being busted  for contributing $150,000 to MN Forward, a right wing PAC that supported anti-gay Minnesota Govenor candidate Tom Emmer, CEO Gregg Steinhafel apologized  in n a memo to employees, Steinhafel wrote that a “business climate conducive to growth is critical to our future,” and added he had not anticipated how the donation would affect its employees and that he was “truly sorry”.

But after August Target recorded $31,200 out of $41,200 (more than 75%) in donations to anti-gay rights candidates or PACs supporting those candidates, including Republican Representatives Spencer Bachus (Alabama), David Camp (Michigan), Dave Reichert (Washington), David Dreier (California) and John Kline (Minnesota), and Idaho Senator Michael Crapo and Target’s political arm also supported Representatives Michele “crazy as a fucking loon” Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Roy Blunt (R-Missouri) by giving to three PACs that in turn gave to the candidates.

So remember BOYCOTT TARGET and if you are in the mood for a bit of non-violent activism…… 

Go to Target and fill your shopping cart, top and bottom, with high-priced merchandise, hopefully with price tags missing, then head to the check out at the same time. The cashier will have to get price checks on the items that don’t have tags. Then, when it is time to pay, ask to speak to the Manager, and say that you have decided not to purchase these items because of Target’s homophobic policies, and that you will shop elsewhere. You will have tied up the check out for awhile and you would make a statement when you decide to spend your $400 somewhere else. 

Take some friends and make a party of it.  Especially on a busy Saturday or Sunday afternoon and then do brunch!
