Jeb-thro Bush Backs LGBT Workplace & Housing Protections (But Only On A State-By-State Basis)

End jeb

Speaking to employees at San Francisco tech startup Thumbtack,  Jeb Bush declared that workplace and housing discrimination protections for LGBT Americans should be enacted, but only on a state-by-state basis.

An employee who identified himself to Bush as being gay asked about Bush’s position on legislation to ban discrimination of LGBT Americans. “I don’t think you should be discriminated because of your sexual orientation. Period. Over and out,” he replied.

Bush continued: “The fact that there wasn’t a law doesn’t necessarily mean you would have been discriminated against.” He added that in the wake of the Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide, the country must work to carefully balance the rights of those seeking to marry and the religious beliefs of those who oppose those unions.

Citing the frequently-used example by religious freedom advocates, Bush said that in the case of a florist approached by a gay couple, “you should be obligated to sell them flowers, doing otherwise would be discriminatory.” But he said that the objecting florist should not be required to participate in the wedding, a fine line that he hopes will appeal to all sides of the debate.

When the employee followed up to ask specifically whether he would support anti-discrimination laws for LGBT Americans for their housing and employment—the next target for gay rights marriage advocates—Bush said he would at the state level. “I think this should be done state-by-state, I totally agree with that,” he said.

As of this writing on 31 of the 50 states DO NOT offer LGBT protections.

States Rights, nullification. How very confederate of him.

Believe It Or Not This Is A REAL Ad For Rand Paul. #WTF? – Video

Rand Paul Naked

Via CNN:

A photoshopped image of Ted Cruz in boxing clothes. Another image of a shirtless and brawny Rand Paul. And lots of fire-breathing bald eagles. America’s Liberty PAC — a pro-Paul super PAC — is releasing a five-figure digital ad buy over the weekend, featuring a WWE-style video that promotes a rare gathering of the U.S. Senate this Sunday to debate the Patriot Act just as key provisions of the law are set to expire. “Sunday, Sunday, Sunday,” the juiced-up narrator says, previewing what the PAC is calling a “brawl for liberty” on the Senate floor. The video goes after Cruz, calling him a “capitulating Canadian,” a likely reference to Cruz’s support for legislation that would tweak the NSA domestic phone surveillance program but still reauthorizes portions of the Patriot Act.

How very Presidential…

Gov Bobby Jindal Signs Religious Liberty/Right To Discriminate Executive Order Into Law In Louisiana – #BoycottLouisiana

BOYCOTT 2

Only two hours after Louisiana’s state legislature squashed a law that would have allowed businesses to discriminate against the LGBT community, Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal issued an executive order to accomplish its intent.

“What we are seeing today in America is an all-out assault on religious liberty,” said Jindal, who called the executive order the “next best thing” to signing the bill.

HB 707, which would have blocked the government from penalizing companies and individuals because of the owner’s stance on same-sex marriage, was overwhelmingly defeated in the state house’s Civil Law and Procedure over fears that it legalized discrimination against LGBT people.

A joint statement from Equality Louisiana, an LGBT rights group, and Louisiana Progress Action, says the executive order will hurt the state’s economy. The statement also attributed the move to the governor’s presidential aspirations.

“It is shameful that Gov. Jindal has decided that abusing his executive power to accomplish the goals of House Bill 707, even after it was tabled indefinitely by our legislature today, is worth more effort than fixing our disastrous state budget. In his time in Iowa, he may have forgotten what everyday Louisianians value, but the testimony today against HB 707 should have reminded him. Discrimination is not a Louisiana value.

Louisiana tourism which generates over $807 million – state tax revenues generated by travel and tourism activities alone fears the loss of billions from an upcoming boycott of the state from the LGBT Community and its allies.

Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Director Stephen Handwerk issued the following statement about the executive order:

“Gov. Jindal’s stunt today once again underlines his disregard for Louisiana families, his disdain for the state legislature and his apparent contempt for the state’s tourism industry — the only segment of our economy his failed policies haven’t crippled. Louisiana taxpayers and businesses are once again being forced to foot the bill for Jindal’s vanity. It’s foolishness our families cannot afford.”

Lindsey Graham Set To Announce 2016 Presidential and First Lady Bid

Graham Gay

Via the Washington Post:

Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), who in recent months has moved closer to running for president, announced Monday on CBS “This Morning” that he will announce if he will make a White House bid on June 1 from South Carolina. Graham formed an exploratory committee, Security Through Strength, in January and has been staffing it as he prepares for what looks increasingly like it will become a full-fledged run for president. Graham told South Carolina state lawmakers last week that he’s “99.9 percent sure” he’s going to run. If Graham runs, he is likely to center his campaign around the theme of national security. He is among the most hawkish figures in the Republican Party and already has secured the support of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a close friend and fellow hawk.

I DO DECLARE!

Give it up gurl.

Quislings of a Feather: OUT NYC Owner Mati Weiderpass Uses Ken Mehlman and Israel To Backpeddle On Ted Cruz Dinner

Ted Cruz out hotel

“I am happy to see such passion and energy in support of gay rights. We just need to channel that passion and energy to those who would deny us those rights. The dinner with Ted Cruz happened only because IT WAS NOT A FUNDRAISER. It was about security for Israel, but it also gave me a rare opportunity to address the gay issues for which Ted Cruz has championed against. THREE FACTS WILL MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR TED CRUZ TO BE THE CHAMPION AGAINST GAY RIGHTS: 1) he had a private dinner (not a fund raiser) at a gay couples home, 2) he is in several pictures at that gay household, and 3) he stated he would love his daughter the same if she were gay. Those facts are difficult to reconcile with his stance on gay issues — Ted’s far right anti-gay supporters are screaming now. We need to be persistent with our message and it will slowly seep thru even to those most vehemently against gay rights.

“Ken Mehlman was the Chair of the Republican National Committee whose platform included several anti-gay positions. Later in life Ken was instrumental in the passage of Gay Marriage in NY State. People’s views can be changed over time. I worked 6 years for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, which required many unpleasant conversations with people who opposed Gays in the Military. And it worked! THE GAY MOVEMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP. Tell those people that are against us or just neutral, that gay people have families, friends, some worship in church and we don’t want to be demonized. Light up social media with calls for the SUPREME COURT TO RULE IN FAVOR OF GAY MARRIAGE! ‪#‎SUPREMESFORMARRIAGE‬ – Mati Weiderpass,

Translation: I got caught being a Kapo, quick backpedal before I lose too much business. After all it’s about the money.

Hillary Clinton Selects Openly Gay Man Robby Mook As Her 2016 Presidential Campaign Manager

Robbie Mook

Mother Jones reports that the Hillary Clinton has selected Robby Mook, a relatively unknown and openly gay man to be her 2016 Presidential campaign manager.

Mook is widely known as Robby, not Robert, and at 35, he’s still boyish—handsome and clean-shaven with close-cropped brown hair. His usual uniform consists of chinos and bland dress shirts rolled up to the elbows. He couldn’t be more different from, say, James Carville, the loudmouth Ragin’ Cajun who advised Bill Clinton’s first presidential bid and now makes a living as a consultant and TV commentator. Mook rarely appears in news stories or on TV. He did not respond to repeated interview requests. He has no Facebook page. He has a Twitter account but never tweets and has forgotten the password. Mook, who will be the first openly gay manager of a major presidential campaign, is largely unknown beyond the insular world of Democratic staffers but well liked within it. In addition to the email listserv, his loyal following—the Mook Mafia—plans yearly reunions, during which they return to a state where they once operated for a weekend of bar-hopping mixed with volunteering for a local campaign.

You go gurl!  Both of you!

(Chad Hunter Griffin must be devasted!)

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) Slams Jeb Bush Over Gay Marriage Statement

DNC Waffle

“It took Jeb Bush 69 words to say absolutely nothing – 69 words not to say, ‘I support marriage equality.’ Nothing’s changed. At the end of Bush’s statement, he still had the same position: he opposes the right of gay and lesbian Floridians – and all LGBT Americans – to get married and adopt children. If he wants to tell us he’s changed his position, great. But this was not that statement. It was typical Jeb Bush.” – The Democratic National Committee on yesterdays  statement by Jeb Bush about gay marriage in Florida.

Now we all know that Democrats are much better on LGBT issues than Republicans.  BUT lets remember that the DNC  did nothing to pass ENDA when they had the votes and never even considered repealing DOMA and constantly supports Blue Dog Democrats.

Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber: ” I Am No Longer A Republican” (I’m Just Your Run Of The Mill Homophobic Douchebag.)

Fat Matt Barber Liberty Counsel

“I am no longer a Republican. John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and their Democrat-lite, RINO Republican establishment have seen to that. They have betrayed their own constituents. They have actively turned against the American people – the very voters who granted them power to do good. Even before the gavel has sounded on the Republican-led 114th Congress, these treacherous cowards shamelessly, eagerly, it seems, squandered perhaps the one opportunity they had to stop, in his tracks, America’s first cultural Marxist, anti-American, palpably evil president. I don’t know what kind of dirt Barack Obama and his NSA-KGB have on John Boehner, but within a week of the elections it became abundantly clear that the GOP would betray us.

“I shall remain a man without a party, a disenchanted vessel floating adrift, amid torrential seas, as Hurricane Obama threatens to sink us all.”

“Republicans have, without batting an eye, and in the face of overwhelming bipartisan opposition from the electorate, funded executive amnesty, paid for Obamacare in all its abortion-mandating, economy-killing, freedom-trampling infamy, and otherwise approved every radical, unconstitutional and tyrannical dictate these statists have rammed down our throats. If, for instance, some squishy, Karl Rove-approved RINO like Jeb Bush, Chris Christie or Mitt Romney once again finagles the GOP nomination in 2016, I will not only reject him, I will actively oppose him – even if it means President Hillary Clinton.” – Liberty Counsel hate group leader Matt Barber, writing for World Net Daily because he’s too embaressed to write for his own flop of a hate-site Barbwire.

“I shall remain a man without a party, a disenchanted vessel floating adrift, amid torrential seas, as Hurricane Obama threatens to sink us all.”
