A teacher at a Collier County school is facing backlash from parents after they showed a video celebrating “Confederate History Month” to the entire school. The video aired as part of the morning announcements on Tuesday at Manatee Middle School, according to a district spokesperson.
The school district wouldn’t identify the teacher but said they are investigating. “If you didn’t know, April is an officially celebrated month here in the State of Florida named Confederate H
History Month,” the teacher said in the video.
“Every year our state celebrates and memorializes that valiant, brave fight and the countless sacrifices by our men and women during what is known as the Civil War, but may be more correctly titled the War To Prevent Southern Independence,” he said.
In Florida, every month is Seditionist Grooming Month even in schools that receive federal funding it seems.
We didn’t even ‘celebrate ‘ this in Arkansas in the fifties

Please learn REAL history. The Civil War had very little to do with slavery.
That’s what they teach us in the south. If it wasn’t about slavery, why did the war result in the 13, 14, and 15th amendments during reconstruction?

It’s history. We do have black history month. Why forget. Just because the confederate flag is is displayed doesn’t mean you a bigot, a racist, or hate black people. We cannot forget our history or we are domed to repeat it. Black or white why does this matter. Only to those that can’t think….

This flag was used the 1st time they tried to overthrow the government & the 2nd time also if we have to celebrate this flag because it’s part of our history. We should erect a statue of Bin Laden & he should have a month. Him & the confederacy both attacked this country. He’s part of our history. Hitler is part of Germany history & not 1 statue. Let’s not forget this flag came from men trying to overthrow the government & it happened again. January 6th nothing but Confederate & Trump flags. If we do not learn from history we’re doomed to repeat it.
