While all 50 states honor Martin Luther King Jr. on this day but shockingly 10 states — all in the American South (shock) — celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day and observe at least one confederate holiday during the rest of tAlabama And Mississippi Celebrate Robert E. Lee Day on MLK Jr. Dayhe year.
Alabama and Mississippi celebrate MLK and Robert E. Lee, the losing Confederate general and slaveholder, on the same day and celebrate a total of three confederate holidays every year — Robert E. Lee Day, Confederate Memorial Day and Jefferson Davis’ Birthday — all paid holidays for state employees.
Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas all have at least one day commemorating the Confederacy on other days of the year.
Recently, a photo of an Alabama-based bank commemorating the Confederate general alongside King has gone viral online.
“If you live in Alabama you should pull your money out of [CB&S Bank] immediately,” Brock Boone, a civil rights attorney, said in a tweet Wednesday evening. “Unless you think Black Americans should be slaves.”
In 2008, Citizens Bank officially changed its name to CB&S Bank.

I think the majority of Americans black and white are sick. We should start allocating more money towards mental health in this country. Dr. King was a good person, we are not living up to his dream.
