Calling Out Mark Regnerus’ Anti-Gay Parenting Study For What It Is. Bought and Paid For Propaganda

A flawed,  puposely misleading, and unscientifically sound “study” that seeks to so nothing more than destroy lesbian and gay parents while making up facts and ignoring 30 years of evidence to the contrary.  The paper is getting wide negative media and is being criticized, and rightfully so by organizations and members of the scientific community both gay and straight for its inaccurate research methods and its blatantly biased attempts to paint gays and lesbians as bad parents without any REAL evidence.

The study, “New Family Structures Study,” written by right-wing author Mark Regnerus (pictured left) of the Department of Sociology and Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin turns out to be funded in large part by the anti-gay Witherspoon Institute, and makes a number of unsubstantiated claims about negative outcomes for children raised by gay and lesbian parents. And for the most part, the paper doesn’t even look at same-sex couples raising a child together in a long-term committed relationship.

“He doesn’t have an actual category of gay parents in the project that you can isolate and say the most important thing in this kid’s childhood is that they were raised by gay parents,” according to Judith Stacey, a sociologist at New York University. These are kids whose parents, maybe they divorced, maybe they separated, maybe they had a scandalous affair, we just don’t know.”

Respected news organizations are ripping the flawed study to shreds as well . In the New Yorker blog, Senior Editor Amy Davidson noted that “It turned out that most of the adults that the study considered products of gay or lesbian parents were not, for the most part, raised by gays or lesbians.”

The Witherspoon Institute is a Princeton, New Jersey-based nonprofit organization with ties to the the SLPC Certified hate group the Family Research Council, the National Organization for Marriage, and ultra-conservative Catholic groups like Opus Dei.”

Regnerus study was paid for with a $695,000 grant from the Witherspoon Institute and a $90,000 grant from the archconservative Bradley Foundation which claims anti-bullying programs that protect LGBT and LGBT-perceived youth in schools amount to promoting  “homosexual indoctrination”

Mark Regnerus “study” is nothing more than bought and paid for anti-gay propaganda and the only place it deserves to be put is in the trash and  Mark Regnerus should be fired from Department of Sociology and Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin..

The man is a fraud, a liar and a disgrace.

Quote by Mark Regnerus on why he cannot be considered an impartial researcher on any subject:

“I like the tension of the anti-faith atmosphere that big state universities present. I’ve heard how professors totally dismiss the principles of their students’ faith, particularly Christian principles. That is consummate disrespect. Those beliefs are invaluable to the people who hold them.

“That’s why I want my students to recognize the connection between my faith and my work. I want them to know that they don’t have to lay their beliefs aside although the environment may suggest otherwise. I feel that I’m exactly where God wants me to be.”
