Did You Know That Lucille Ball Supported Gay Rights? – Happy 100th Birthday Lucy! We Still Love You!

As many of you know today August 6th, 2011 is the the birthday of one of the, if not the most successful television, stage, radio actress, model, film and television executive Lucille Ball.

Lucy was one of the most popular and influential stars in America during her lifetime, with one of Hollywood’s longest careers

But what you might not know is that in a 1980 interview Ball did with People magazine , Lucy talked about gay rights, a subject that many in Hollywood ignored back then.

People:   How do you feel about gay rights?

Lucy:  It’s perfectly all right with me. Some of the most gifted people I’ve ever met or read about are homosexual. How can you knock it?

Way to go Lucy!  We still love you after all this time.
