Rachel Maddow takes on closeted anti-gay politician South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer whop recently remarked that:the state should not give assistance to the children of parents that fail drug tests or don’t attend PTA meetings and that students that receive free lunches get the lowest grades, so (presumably) they should starve comparing them to stray animals.

Bauer, who was outed last year by Mike Rogers, is running to replace disgraced Gov. Mark “Appalachian Trail” Sanford.

  1. Funny how these parents can afford drugs from the street but there kids need food from the government. It is not the government that is staving the children of drug addicted parents it is the parents. I do understand that many many children need this program. And if I was in the situation where I needed help to feed my children a drug test would not offend me.

  2. The point is not that a FEW people might be abusing the system. The point is Bauers way of describing the poor in general as "stray animals" and lumping all needy familes and children together.
