Puerto Vallarta Sheraton Hotel Tells Gay Couple It Won’t Host an "Equal" Wedding Between Two Men

Puerto Vallarta Sheraton Hotel Tells Gay Couple It Won’t Host an “Equal” Wedding Between Two Men

Josh Rimer (Who happens to be Mr. Gay Canada) and his fiancé Heath wanted to have their wedding at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center in the usually LGBT friendly city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico but after inquiring about a booking the hotel told them that it won’t host a “equal” same-sex wedding.

“This is probably the most homophobic experience I’ve ever encountered personally in my entire life” Rimer said. “It’s not like I’m trying to book a wedding in Uganda! This is Puerto Vallarta! It should not be an issue.”

According to Rimer the manager at the hotel told him “we don’t specialize in same-sex weddings” and suggested other hotels that do.

Rimer later received an email from the manager that read, in part: “I am infinitely grateful that you have thought of Sheraton for your big day., however, our hotel and our staff is not specialized to carry out an equal wedding and we would not like to take your wedding as a trial and error as our service could be poor compared to what characterized Sheraton, because we know and we are aware that is your special day for you and your fiancé, and do not want that by our non-specialized service some conflict can be generated on your big day.

The Marriott Corporation which owns Sheraton said they were looking into the matter.

We are troubled and greatly concerned about the experience reported by Mr. Rimer.  Marriott has long been committed to providing an environment where all are welcome including our LGBTQ guests and their loved ones. We have contacted Mr. Rimer and expressed our sincerest apologies for his experience.  In addition, we are looking further into the matter to better understand what happened and do what we can to prevent hurtful experiences like this from happening again.” Jeff Flaherty, Marriott spokesperson with Global Communications & Public Affairs

Nothing short of the firing of the Sheraton manager, a public apology, and a the resort hosting the same-sex wedding for free will come close to making up for the insult, humiliation and degradation the couple has been put through.

You all know what to do.

Too Adorable! Ian McKellen To Officiate Patrick Stewart’s Wedding

Gay Geeks rejoice! Fans of Marvel’s X-Men series have always taken notice of the complex love/hate relationship of Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto in both the original comics/animated series as well as the live action movies. But the actors Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart’s real life bromance is anything but complicated. The two have been friends for ages, even so much that McKellen is slated to officiate Stewart’s upcoming nuptials later this year! Here’s more:

This is going to be one handsome wedding. Lord Of The Rings and X-Men star Sir Ian McKellen will be officiating friend and fellow actor Sir Patrick Stewart’s upcoming wedding.

McKellen made the announcement on the Jonathan Ross Show, a UK talk show.

“I’m going to marry Patrick,” he quipped on the show. Stewart, 71, will be marrying jazz singer Sunny Ozzell, 35, the two have been romantically linked since 2009.

While McKellen and Stewart play mutant rivals Magneto and Professor Xavier in the X-men films, the two are actually close friends. According to McKellen’s Twitter account the duo will be appearing in a number of plays together this year as well as in the upcoming, X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

McKellen also said it wasn’t the first time he’s married people. “I’ve done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership. I was crying my eyes out,” he said on the UK talk show. The Hollywood Reporter points out that in Massachusetts a friend or family member can officiate weddings for a one-time fee.

And no, McKellen will not be wearing his Gandalf robes for the wedding. Sorry geeks.

It goes without saying that McKellen was likely referring to Stewart when he mentioned having supportive friends when he talked about coming out and being an actor last year. Stewart has always been a supporter for LGBT rights so I’m speculating that he would return the favor and officiate for McKellen if he ever so chooses. What a great friendship.

Homo Say What?- Self Loathing Homo Mormon Ty Mansfield To Marry A Woman Because Joesph Smith Wants It That Way

Ty Mansfield, the co-author of the book In Quiet Desperation is engaged… to a woman.  Published in October of 2004, this anti-gay message explains that for a gay Mormon, suicide is more honorable and justified than engaging in a homosexual act. Mansfield’s co-authors are the parents of Stuart Matis who, at the age of 32, committed suicide because of an inability to reconcile his Mormon upbringing and his own homosexuality. They also continue to support LDS leaders, who perpetuate discrimination against the LGBT community.

This douchebag is a piece of work.
Mansfield and his fiancée Danielle Palmer have announced their wedding date as May 22nd 2010 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.

‘the Lord promised that he will change our hearts, but he didn’t say when, He never promised it would happen in mortality. He only said it would happen.'”

Well his fiance may never get laid but at least she’ll have the best decorated house in Salt Lake City.

Ty, what an empty lonely life you lead you pathetic little man.

Perhaps we should all mail him copies of “Angels In America” for wedding presents
