LGBT History – May 3, 1989:  Christine Jorgenson, Pioneering Transsexual, Dies of Cancer at 62 – Learn About Her Life.

Christine Jorgensen was the worlds first transexual woman.

Christine Jorgensen was a pioneer in the transgender community, famous for being the first person in the United States to undergo gender reassignment surgery. Her life and legacy continue to inspire and educate people around the world.

Born George William Jorgensen Jr. in the Bronx, New York on May 30, 1926, Christine grew up in a middle-class family and was known for her artistic talents and love of music. She attended Christopher Columbus High School and later studied photography at the Manhattan campus of the Mohawk Valley Technical Institute.

After finishing her studies, Jorgensen was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in World War II. She was stationed in Europe and worked as a clerk typist, but she began to explore her gender identity during her time in the military.

In 1946, Jorgensen returned to the United States and began to transition. Jorgensen had intended to go to Sweden, where at the time the only doctors in the world performing this surgery were located. During a stopover in Copenhagen to visit relatives, however, she met Dr. Christian Hamburger, a Danish endocrinologist and specialist in rehabilitative hormonal therapy. Jorgensen stayed in Denmark, and under Dr. Hamburger’s direction, was allowed to again begin hormone replacement therapy. She then got special permission from the Danish Minister of Justice to undergo the series of operations for sex re-assignment.

After her surgery, Jorgensen returned to the United States and became an instant celebrity. She was featured in newspapers and magazines around the world, and her story helped to raise awareness about transgender issues.

Jorgensen used her celebrity to advocate for transgender rights and to educate the public about the challenges faced by transsexuals’ and transgender people. She gave lectures and appeared on television shows, including “The Ed Sullivan Show” and “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”

Despite the attention and fame that came with her transition, Jorgensen faced discrimination and harassment. She was denied a marriage license in New York, and she was often the target of jokes and ridicule in the media.

Despite these challenges, Jorgensen continued to speak out about transgender issues and to advocate for acceptance and understanding. She wrote a book about her experiences, titled “Christine Jorgensen: A Personal Autobiography,” and continued to give lectures and interviews throughout her life.

Christine Jorgensen passed away on May 3, 1989, but her legacy continues to inspire and educate people around the world. She was a true pioneer in the transgender community and helped to pave the way for future generations of transgender people to live their lives with dignity and respect.

Caitlyn Jenner Vows to Take On The 'Radical Rainbow Mafia'

Lock Up Your Sons! Caitlyn Jenner Says She’s Ready To Date Men!

Caitlyn Jenner Halloween Costume

In a new trailer for the second season of I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner reveals that she’s ready to date men basically coming out as Bi-sexual. I think.

Jenner is seen in the a road trip with her girlfriends.

Chandi Moore is seen asking Jenner in the trailer for the upcoming season. “Would you consider yourself to be a lesbian?”

“To be honest with you, I don’t see dating women in the future. I’ve been there, done that, got three ex-wives,” Jenner replies.

“So now you can have an ex-husband,” Jennifer Boylan remarks.

“That’s right,” Jenner replies.

In another scene, Boylan tells Jenner that she was “a little hurt” to learn about Jenner’s “lukewarm support for same-sex marriage,” a reference to an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where Jenner revealed that she did not support such unions 15 years ago but is now “okay with that.” Jenner later wrote a column in which she reiterated her support for marriage equality.

I didn’t explain it as well as I should have,” Jenner tells Boylan. “But I had, like, 30 seconds to think about it.”

“I hope you will recognize, you’re a leader,” Boylan remarks.

Its amazing that Boylan a self-proclaimed author and trans-political activist who has hitched her fame ticket to Jenner took 6 months to ask Jenner that question.

I guess Boylan was waiting for Season 2 and the right camera angle.

Miss Universe Canada Reverses Decision, Allows Transexual Contestant Jenna Talackova To Compete… Maybe.

As we reported last week,  Miss Universe Canada issued a statement that Jenna Talackova who was originally  born a male and underwent hormone therapy and reassignment surgery in 2010 was barred entrance from becoming the beauty pageants first transexual contestant.

GLAAD contacted the Miss Universe Organization last week after Jenna  was disqualified and called on the Miss Universe Organization to review Jenna’s situation.

Tonight the Miss Universe Organization issued this statement:

The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions.”

Under Canada’s Equality Law in the 1982 constitution, her application cannot be denied since she’s legally a woman

OH CANADA! – Transexual Contestant Kicked Out Of Miss Universe Canada Beauty Pageant

Last week we wrote about the stunning and beautiful Jenna Talackova.

Jenna who was born a male and underwent hormone therapy at age 14 went on to have sexual reassignment surgery in 2010 and had become the first transexual contestant to make it to the finals as a contestant in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada.

Well thats all changed now according to CTV News:

Miss Universe Canada issued a statement Friday saying Talackova “did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form.”

“We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best,” it said.

Miss Universe Canada didn’t go into specifics about exactly what “requirements” Ms. Talackova failed to meet.  But I think we can probably figure that out.

Miss Universe Canada beauty pageant is owned by Donald Trump.  Are we surprised?

Miss Universe Canada Accepts First Transexual Beauty Pageant Contestant. Maybe…

Statuesque and beautiful 23 year old Jenna Talackova is hoping to beat the competition and represent Canada at the upcoming 2012 Miss Universe competition as news spread that Jenna had made it to the finals as a contestant in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada.  But some beauty pageant purist are up in arms because Jenna was originally born a male and underwent hormone therapy at age 14 and underwent sexual reassignment surgery in 2010 to become the beautiful woman she is today.  But now there seems to be a mystery if Jenna will actually be in the pageant at all..

Many are arguing that Jenna should not be allowed to be  acceptanced as a contestant by Miss Universe Canada because they believe that it raises ethical and moral issues and feel that the Big 4 beauty competitions (Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth) were meant for naturally born women. But under the Equality Law in Canada’s 1982 constitution, her application cannot be denied since she’s legally a woman.

But now less than a day after word of her participation in this year’s Miss Universe Canada pageant began making the rounds, her profile disappeared from the official pageant website.

So will she?  Or won’t she be in the pageant. And Miss Universe Canada has not commented nor issued a statement.

The winner of Miss Universe Canada will go on to represent the country at the Donald Trump-owned Miss Universe pageant

In 2010 Jenna she was a Top 10 finalist in the transgender Miss International Queen pageant held in Thailand
