In an interview with Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts on Wednesday, former football start Colton Underwood — who headlined Season 23 of the ABC “reality” show The Bachelor— confirmed the longstanding rumor.
He is gay.
Underwood’s being a virgin was a plot point The Bachelor seized on. It also fueled rumors that he was gay — which he had previously denied.
Titled “Colton Underwood: In His Own Words,” the former “Bachelor” star opens up to Roberts:
“There is something that you want people to know, so can you tell us what is on your heart that you want to share?” Roberts asks Underwood in the clip.
“Yeah,” he responds as he takes a deep breath. “It’s been a journey, for sure.”
This year’s been a lot for a lot of people and it’s probably made a lot of people look at themselves in the year and figure out who they are,” he shared. “I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay. I came to terms with that earlier this year, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. … I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. That means the world to me.” – Colton Underwood
I want to apologize to all the people I may have offended because of my comments on having a Gay or Bisexual Bachelor. The comment was taken out of context. If you listen to the entire interview, there’s nothing but respect for Gay people and their families. I have many gay friends and one of my closest friends who’s like a brother has been a constant in my life especially during the past 5 months. The word pervert was not what I meant to say and I am very sorry about it. Everyone knows English is my second language and my vocabulary is not as broad as it is in Spanish and, because of this, sometimes I use the wrong words to express myself. What I meant to say was that gay people are more affectionate and intense and for a segment of the TV audience this would be too racy to accept. The show is very racy as it is and I don’t let my 5 year old daughter watch it. Once again, I’m sorry for how my words were taken. I would never disrespect anyone.”

So here we have Juan Pablo blaming English being his second language, his comments being taken out of context (even though there is audio), and or course stating that he has “gay friends” to get out of it. One has to wonder what context J.P.G. actually meant to use the word “pervert?” in.
Of course this apology only happened after GLAAD possibly smelling money from ABC reached and some free publicity reached out to J.P.G. and then reported his apology on their website which is totally different than the apology above that Juan Pablo Galavis posted on his Facebook page.
“I have heard from many gay Latinos today who are hurt because of what I said and I apologize. I know gay parents and I support them and their families. They are good parents and loving families. I am a father and I know the feel of being a father, why wouldn’t I want my gay friends to also be happy parents? I also want gay and lesbian youth to know that it is fine to be who you are. Gay or straight, Black or White, Latin or American, what matters here is to respect who we are. I look forward to meeting with gay and lesbian families as well as Monica and Wilson from GLAAD. Gay and lesbian people, and the children they are raising, wrongfully face discrimination and I want them to know that I’m on their side.”
Whats really interesting is if you read the Facebook apology and GLAAD’s version even though they are different don’t even sound like the same person wrote them. Do they?
Did GLAAD help write this apology specifically for their website and release?
Of course Juan Pablo will be meeting in Los Angeles this week with Monica Trasandes, a leads GLAAD’s Latino and Spanish-Language Media Program, and GLAAD’s Wilson Cruz who never met a piece of publicity he didn’t like.

Juan Pablo Galavis this years him-bo media whore contestant on ABC’s “The Bachelor” unveiled a very anti-gay and bigoted opinion about the possibility of a future gay bachelor at a “network party” on Friday night.
When asked whether or not he thought the hit ABC reality show featuring a gay or bisexual bachelor would be a “good idea,” Juan Pablo Galavis reportedly told The TV Page’s Sean Daly, “No… I respect [gay people] but, honestly, I don’t think it’s a good example for kids…”
Galavis, the 18th man to score the coveted role of “The Bachelor,” continued his conversation with Daly — but not before pointing out his gay friend Peter (because if you have a gay friend, you can’t be homophobic, right?) — and added:
“Obviously people have their husband and wife and kids and that is how we are brought up. Now there is fathers having kids and all that, and it is hard for me to understand that too in the sense of a household having peoples… Two parents sleeping in the same bed and the kid going into bed… It is confusing in a sense.” Galavas also stated that “there’s this thing about gay people… it seems to me, and I don’t know if I’m mistaken or not… but they’re more ‘pervert’ in a sense. And to me the show would be too strong… too hard to watch.”
So there you have it. The family values morals advice of an unmarried man with two children who has agreed to seduce and break the hearts of multiple women on national television for money,
The irony certainly is thick. But not as thick as Juan Pablo Galavis.
