Back2Stonewall Halloween EXTRA! – “Jack and Diane” Featuring: Lesbian Werewolves and Kylie Minouge! – [Video]

Director Bradley Rust Gray’s coming-of-age lesbian romance film  Jack and Diane stars Juno Temple (seen most recently in The Dark Knight Rises) as Diane, and Riley Keough (The Runaways) as Jack — two girls who fall in love in New York City.

The pair’s blossoming relationship hits a snag, however, when Diane’s aunt, Linda, (Kylie sporting some trailer-trash tattoos!) announces that Diane will be departing for school in France in a few short weeks. The news of Diane’s planned departure pushes Jack away (she tells Diane at one point in the trailer, “Don’t stay for me, okay?”), eliciting strange and somewhat violent changes in Diane.

Jack and Diane is an unusual combination of tender adolescent romance and gruesome body horror, the latter courtesy of some fantastic stop-motion work from the Quay Brothers. Throw in some humor (which you don’t really get in the trailer), and gorgeous cinematography by Anne Misawa, and of course Kylie  and you get an interesting  Halloween exercise in horror and gender studies.

Happy HOMO-ween! – “A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge” THE GAYEST HORROR MOVIE EVER!

Nightmare on elm street 2 jesse is gay

In a nutshell the story of “Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge” is as follows

A male teenager named Jesse who’s a high school wrestler moves into the house where a lot of the original “Nightmare On Elm Street” took place with his family and he gets Nancy’s old room. In her closet, (and his) he finds her diary containing her secrets about the nightmares she had. He soon has the revelation he’s having the same dreams as Nancy and runs to his parents screaming that he’s ” becoming NANCY” and his parents don’t believe him and then get mad at him.

This is bizarrely as subtle as this movie gets.

From there Jesse’s S&M gym teacher stares at him working out only to later run into him in a gay leather bar  (Don’t ask me how or why there is a leather bar in Springdale) ) and they end up in back in the school gym where the teacher ends up getting snapped with wet towels and attacked by his own (basket) balls.

We also have Jesse’s “Risky Business” dance scene where Jesse bumps, grinds and holds a phallic like object in front of his crotch while wearing the gayest 80’s sunglasses ever and then we have his “bromance” (And lets be honest this was the 80’s and it wasn’t a “bromance” it was a “brokeback-nance”) with his best friend that has such gayly suggestive lines as:

Jesse:  “Something is trying to get inside my body.”
Grady:  “And you want to sleep with me?”

And in a somewhat unsurprising (after watching his performance) and ironic twist Mark Patton, who plays Jesse, was a living as a closeted gay man during that film’s production and now refer’s to himself as the “First Male Scream Queen” (Although I am sure that Roddy McDowell would beg to differ.)

All in all NES2FR is the gayest unintentional horror movie EVER!  Or was it intentional?  Conflicting stories muddle this point.

Well whatever its worth a watch for Homoween. Hell, it  even even has Hope Lange, TV’s Ghost and Mrs. Muir, playing Jesse’s mom!

Happy HOMO-ween! WATCH: HELL HOUSE The Full Documentary (2011) – Nothing Scarier Than Texas Pentecostals!

Hell House

It might seem odd that I of all people would pimp a documentary about a Pentecostal church at Back2Stonewall.com. But even if this film were not about a “haunted house attraction”, it would still be one of the scariest and unbelievable things you’ll ever seen.

This documentary chronicles a season in the life of Texas’ famed Hell House, a haunted house designed by a Texas Pentacostal church to literally “scare the devil and Santorum” out of Christian teenagers by graphically recreating such horrors as botched abortions, AIDS death, rape, school shootings, suicide, and drunk driving accidents (and then showing the perpetrators dragged off to hell by masked demons). Speaking of drunk driving, for those people who are currently facing DUI record, Adras & Altig DUI Lawyers can help you for they give excellent services to their customers over the years. The church does this in the hopes to redirect “the lost” to the path of righteousness.

For a group of righteous people, they spend an awful lot of time discussing and recreating violent and horrific acts — it’s no wonder that one interviewee calls the world an “evil place” Mixed into the “let’s-put-on-a-show” hi-jinx we see scenes of parishioners speaking in tongues, an over stressed father caring for his 5 children — one who is prone to seizures — without the help of a spouse, and lots of confusion as to exactly what evils the good folks are battling including exactly which “date rape drug” they are warning against and what Magic: the Gathering is.

In the end watching a young man being dragged to hell for refusing to renounce his homosexual lifestyle (after of course contracting HIV) in front of a crowd of scared confused and tn this case physiologically abused children was just about as creepy and as sad as it gets.

Welcome to Hell (House)!

*TRIVIA/SPOILER:  The “pentagrams” in one scene, are actually Stars of David.

The 31 Days of HOMO-ween! – Day 5: The Haunting of Hammond Castle

Hammond Castle

Hammond Castle  80 Hesperus Ave., Gloucester, MA

The medevil castle was constructed between 1926 and 1929 for inventor John Hays Hammond Jr as a wedding present for his new bride Irene. The two secretly married in 1926. Hammond is known as the “Father of Remote Control”. He held over 400 patents, more than anyone other than Thomas Edison. His home and laboratory contains his 15th, 16th and 18th Century collection of Roman, Medieval and Renaissance artifacts including the skull of one of Christopher Columbus’ crewman, an eighty-five foot tall pipe organ, and the tomb of a child from Ancient Rome. Irene died in 1959 and Hammond’s death came years later in 1965. Irene was buried in her family’s plot in the Gloucester’s Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Hammond was buried in the sepulcher until his body was moved in to the bronze vault inside the Cat Garden a few years ago.

Hammond and his wife were known Spiritualists and performed many seances with psychics. Also, if you’re wondering how to perform telekinesis, go to the website of psychics 4 today. You’ll see on their site the steps on how to move an object with the mind. During their experiments, did they invite spirits in their home who have never left.

Ghost sightings  have often been been reported throughout Hammond Castle. Items disappear, reappear and move on their own. Voices are heard in the circular library as well as other rooms. A ghostly red-haired woman and other spirits appears among guests during weddings and disappears whenever anyone gets too close to them. A shadow figure is seen on the balcony above the organ.

Also Henry Davis Sleeper, the legendary designer of the castle had an unrequited love affair with his Red Roof neighbor, Abram Piatt Andrew Jr., and designed the inventor’s favorite spot, known as the “whisper room,” where people have heard disembodied voices.    Is it Sleeper calling for his love Andrew?  Only the castle knows.

The 31 Days of HOMO-ween – Day 3: Have Dinner With Liberace’s Ghost At Carluccio’s Tivoli Gardens!

Carluccio’s Tivoli Gardens is an Italian restaurant in Las Vegas Nevada who was designed and owned by non-other than Liberace. The restaurant is located adjacent to the (now closed) Liberace Museum that he opened in 1979, just 8 years before his death due to complications related to AIDS

The Ghost of who else but Liberace is said to haunt the Tivoli Gardens. His image can sometimes be seen peaking into the banquet room in the back of the restaurant from outside through the windows. There have been continued sightings of moving shadows, sudden electrical surges and flying wine bottles. Doors in the ladies toilets continually lock and unlock themselves. (You’d think he’s be in the Men’s Room)

There is a story that a one night all of the power in the restaurant suddenly turned off, but the power in the businesses nearby were all still working. When one of the waitresses remembered that it was Liberace’s birthday and the employees sang happy birthday to him, the power was restored.

One night someone said something about Liberace’s sexual orientation  and a large tree in a planet near the bar fell over. It took five men to get the tree righted.  Still in the closet it seems.

So next time you re Vegas head on over to Carluccio’s Tivoli Gardens and have dinner with Lee.  Just watch what you say about him or a flying candelabra might be headed your way.

She may be dead but she still knows how to put on a show!
