Texas Teenager Arrested for Murder After Using GRINDR To Lure Victims

Damarion Degrate, waco, grindr, texas, shot, man, gay

17-year-old Damarion Degrate has been arrested in Waco, Texas, after he allegedly lethally shot a man and wounded two others after meeting them through the gay dating app GRINDR.

Degrate was first arrested in late August, after three men were shot in Waco on Aug. 17 in separate incidents. One of those men, Jonathan Breeding, later died.

Degrate used the “dating app” with his first victim on the app on August 16 and arranged for his victim to pick him up from his home and drive him to a separate location. He then got out of the car under the pretense of stopping to buy drugs.

The affidavit states that “after being gone for several minutes, the defendant [Degrate] returned to the vehicle where the victim was waiting, opened the passenger door and shot the victim in the chest at point blank range.” The victim was able to leave the scene, eventually stopping at a nearby gas station, where police were called.

Degrate then spoke to Breeding through Grindr and met him a couple of hours after the first shooting, in the early hours of Aug. 17. Breeding was found by police after crashing his car into a pole.

A third man was found with a gunshot wound later that morning, and Degrate is the primary suspect in that shooting as well, police said.

Texas Says FU To Gay Soldiers, Withholds Gay Spousal Benefits Despite Pentagon Orders

Texas is a messThe “not-so-great” state of Texas and it’s military forces are defying Pentagon orders and refusing to offer partner benefits which include health, pension, and housing, to troops with same-sex spouses, which was supposed to begin today because Texas’ law bans same-sex marriage.

Washington Blade:

Alicia Butler, an Austin, Texas, attorney, said she was rejected when she tried to register with the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System, or DEERS, the military’s health benefits system, when she applied on Tuesday at Camp Mabry, where her spouse, Judith Chedville, a nurse and Iraq war veteran, is stationed as a member of the National Guard.

“We were told that Texas would not register us into the system and would not issue an ID card for me,” Butler said. “We were told that if she was active duty they would do that for me, but not for a National Guard member because she’s part of the Texas National Guard.

Gay, lesbian and bisexual soldiers and their spouses are being told they must seek out a federal facility to apply.

Another Tragic Loss 13-year old Asher Brown Commits Suicide After Years Of Bullying

13 year old Asher Brown was “bullied to death” — picked on for his small size, his religion and because he did not wear designer clothes and shoes. Kids also accused him of being gay, some of them performing mock gay acts on him in his physical education class.  This had gone on for years, and last Thursday Asher couldn’t take it any more and took his own life by shooting himself in the head.  On the morning of his death, the teen told his stepfather he was gay, but Truong said he was fine with the disclosure. “We didn’t condemn,” he said

Asher’s parents, David and Amy Truong  said they had complained about the bullying to Hamilton Middle School officials during the past 18 months, they made several visits to the school to complain about the harassment, and Amy Truong said she made numerous phone calls to the school that were never returned. but claimed their concerns fell on deaf ears  And now they want justice.

Asher’s school, The Hamilton Middle School in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Texas (Not shocking it happened in Texas is it?) claim that they never received any complaints from Brown’s parents before the suicide about the way the boy was being treated at school.

“That’s absolutely inaccurate — it’s completely false,” Amy Truong said. “I did not hallucinate phone calls to counselors and assistant principals. We have no reason to make this up. … It’s like they’re calling us liars.”  David Truong said, “We want justice. The people here need to be held responsible and to be stopped. It did happen. There are witnesses everywhere.

Numerous comments from parents and students on the Web site of KRIV-TV Channel 26, which also reported a story about Brown’s death, stated that the boy had been bullied by classmates for several years and claimed Cy-Fair ISD does nothing to stop such harassment.

To the bullies, Amy Troung says  “I hope you’re happy with what you’ve done. I hope you got what you wanted and you’re just real satisfied with yourself.”

This is HORRIBLE.  The poor little guy.  The bullies and the school MUST BE held accountable.  Here’s the contact information for the school.  And please feel free to be as angry as you want with them.  Here is the school’s contact information.

Rest In Peace Asher.
