Man Charged With Attempting to Support Terrorism Planned To Attack San Francisco Gay Bars

Man Charged With Attempting to Support Terrorism Planned To Attack San Francisco Gay Bars

According to recently unsealed audio tapes an Oakland man who is facing federal criminal charges, including attempting to support a terrorism organization was planning on attacking gay bars in San Francisco.

21-year-old Amer Sinan Alhaggagi was already in custody after being arrested in November 2016  facing a single charge of aggravated identity theft.

But prosecutors were building a case against Alhaggagi based on electronic communication and a face-to-face meeting with an undercover FBI agent in which he relayed plans for multiple attacks.

The communication started in late July 2016, Assistant U.S. Attorney S. Waqar Hasib said at the hearing in December, when Alhaggagi was trading messages with an unidentified FBI source about the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria — known as ISIS .

Several of Alhaggagi’s alleged communications identified San Francisco .

Hasib quoted from one of the messages: ” ‘I live close to San Francisco. That’s like the gay capital of the world. I’m going to handle them right. LOL, ’m going to place a bomb in a gay club. … I’m going to tear up the city. … The whole Bay Area is going to be up in flames. “

He told the FBI source that he had access to equipment “to make the cards and checks,” according to the prosecution at the December detention hearing. “I’m trying to make bombs. I’m going to need funds.”

Alhaggagi allegedly told the FBI’s source that he planned to work for a local police department and steal weapons. Agents started canvassing Bay Area police departments.

“They learned that Mr. Alhaggagi had submitted an application to the Oakland Police Department,” just a few days earlier, Hasib said.

The source introduced Alhaggagi to an undercover agent posing as an al-Qaida-trained fighter.

“His plan was to blow up a car bomb at an unidentified gay nightclub in San Francisco and then place backpack bombs around the East Bay,” Hasib said. “He also took the undercover around the UC Berkeley campus and identified buildings, including dorms, where he wanted to plant backpack bombs.”

Alhaggagi’s attorney, Mary McNamara, who took over his defense in March, paints a different picture from the evidence presented at the detention hearing.

“What is clear from that hearing is that Mr. Al Haggagi ran away when he believed that things had gone beyond talk with the undercover agent,” McNamara wrote in a statement to KQED on Monday. “Mr. Al Haggagi never re-engaged with him and never took any steps to commit any violent act. Unlike most of the cases charged under this statute, Mr. Al Haggagi is not radicalized, is not a supporter of ISIS or any terrorist network. He is a peaceful, sociable and well-liked person. He is also young and naïve. It appears that he allowed himself to be drawn into conversations that he should have been far more suspicious of.”

June 12, 2017: One Year Later Orlando and the LGBT Community Remembers The PULSE Massacre Victims

Today, June 12th, marks the  anniversary of the terror attack at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub,. It had been a year since the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history stole 49 lives there and scarred countless others.  For 12 years, the club grew into an integral space for the gay community, one shattered within a matter of minutes by a terrorist with a gun.

At 2:02 a.m., this morning at they exact the time on June 12th, 2016 when the attack began, the names of those killed in the shooting were read aloud, with the family members of some victims on hand to say their names, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The nightclub also held a private ceremony for family members while mourners – including dozens of people dressed as “angels” – stood outside.  By the end of the night, more than 1,000 people had gathered to remember what happened last June, when Orlando became the first U.S. city of the summer — before Falcon Heights, Minn., and Baton Rouge and Dallas — to be upended by gun violence.

An event called Orlando Love: Remembering Our Angels is also set for the Lake Eola Park Amphitheater at 7 p.m. and will feature musical performances and remarks by community leaders.

Please take a moment to remember the victims and morn the loos of our brothers and sisters.

Trump’s AmeriKKKa – Gay Man Injured After Package Bomb Explodes, Police Cite Possible Hate Crime – Video

CBS News reports:

City police are investigating some type of an explosion in Center City that left a man injured on Tuesday morning. Police confirm they were investigating a suspicious package on Pine Street when the explosion occurred, reports CBS Philadelphia. Philly police officials tell CBS News the explosion was caused by some kind of device that the victim activated, and it came in a manila envelope. Police are talking to the victim and his partner and looking at everything, including the possibility of this being a hate crime. Officials tell CBS News they do not believe this is related to terrorism.

Police Commissioner Richard Ross said the victim appeared to be the intended target. Ross said the bomb squad described the explosive as a “victim activated device” that was sent specifically to the 60-year-old man, who triggered it when he opened the package in his home

Neighbors and a law enforcement source identified the victim as Jim Alden, who lives in the front, ground floor apartment in the building. Ross did not know specifically what the explosive was made from, but said it caused injuries to the victim’s face, chest, and hands, and is reported to be in stable condition at Jefferson University Hospital.

Police believe the package was not sent through the mail because the bar code on it was old, they believe the package could have been delivered over the weekend, but the victim did not open it until overnight Tuesday.

Hours after the explosion, investigators remained at the townhouse, which has a rainbow “Love Trumps Hate” sign in the front window.

Excuse me Philadelphia P.D. Hate crimes ARE terrorism.

Explosion Rocks NYC’s Chelsea Neighborhood Injures 29+ – Video

Explosion Rocks NYC's Chelsea Neighborhood Injures 29+ - Video

An explosion rocked the New York City neighborhood of Chelsea, Saturday night, leaving more than two dozen people injured.

The cause of the blast late on Saturday in Chelsea remains unclear. Mayor Bill de Blasio described it as “intentional” but said that there were no known links to terror.

The force of the blast blew out windows and could be heard several blocks away.

Another device, reportedly a pressure cooker rigged with wires, was later found in the same neighborhood..

The explosion occurred around 9.00 pm on Saturday night.. Witnesses said people ran in all directions following the “incredibly loud” blast.

“The initial indications is this was an intentional act,” Mr de Blasio said.

But he added: “We also want to be upfront saying that there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection to this incident.”

Still, law enforcement sources told CBS News the Joint Terrorism Task Force is ramping up operations in New York.

Law enforcement officials said that the device found at the second Chelsea location appeared to be a pressure cooker attached to wiring and a mobile phone. Police said it had been removed safely.

Twenty-nine people were hurt in the explosion, including one considered seriously injured, officials said.

“This is a very dense area, the whole block is restaurants and residences and this area on a warm Saturday night is an area swarming with people,” New York City Councilman Cory Johnson stated.

Johnson, who represents the area, said that FBI and federal Homeland Security officials were on the scene, in addition to New York City police.

The NYPD investigated a possible second device, confirmed to be a pressure cooker, on 27th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. A bomb disposal robot was deployed at the scene and the device was safely removed for further analysis, police said.

Police investigated a third suspicious package on 28th Street and 5th Ave., but it turned out to be nothing dangerous.

Meanwhile, law enforcement was already reviewing surveillance video of the area where the explosion occurred looking for clues, CBS station WCBS reported.

Facebook Being Sued for $1 Billion for Alleged Use of Medium as Platform for Terrorism

Facebook sued over terrorism

Israeli lawyers have filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Facebook Inc., alleging it allowed the Palestinian militant Hamas group to use the platform to plot attacks that killed four Americans and wounded one in Israel, the West Bank and Jerusalem.

“Facebook has knowingly provided material support and resources to Hamas in the form of Facebook’s online social network platform and communication services,” making it liable for the violence against the five Americans, according to the lawsuit sent to Bloomberg by the office of the Israeli lawyer on the case, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner.

The suit was submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on July 10. Plaintiffs include the families of Yaakov Naftali Fraenkel, a 16-year-old abducted and murdered in June 2014 after hitching a ride in the West Bank, and 3-year-old Chaya Braun, whose stroller was struck intentionally by a Palestinian driver in October 2014 at a train station in Jerusalem.

The lawsuit alleges that Hamas used Facebook to share operational and tactical information with members and followers, posting notices of upcoming demonstrations, road closures, Israeli military actions and instructions to operatives to carry out the attacks.

Facebook in March took down a page promoting a new Palestinian uprising against Israel because it made “direct calls for violence,” in violation of company polices.

Mushir al-Masri, a senior Hamas leader, said by phone that “suing Facebook clearly shows the American policy of fighting freedom of the press and expression” and is evidence of U.S. prejudice against the group and “its just cause.”

At Least 5 Police Officers Killed, 6 Wounded By Sniper Attack During Dallas Black Lives Matter Protest – Video

Dallas Police Massace Black lives matters

Multiple snipers shot and killed five police officers “ambush-style” during a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas on Thursday night.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown said early Friday three suspected snipers were in custody and police were still in negotiations with another suspect, who was being uncooperative and at times exchanging gunfire with officers in a parking garage.

Local media reported that the suspect involved in the standoff later died.

“He told negotiators that the end is coming, and he is going to hurt and kill more of us,” Brown said at a press conference earlier, noting the man had also claimed there were bombs around the structure. “We are being very careful in our tactics so that we don’t injure any of our officers in harm’s way.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown said the shooters, some in elevated positions, used sniper rifles to fire at the officers in what appeared to be a coordinated attack.

“(They were) working together with rifles, triangulating at elevated positions in different points in the downtown area where the march ended up going,”

At a press conference from Warsaw, Poland, around 4:19 a.m. central time President Obama called the attack “a vicious, calculated and despicable.”

I believe I speak for every single American when I say we are horrified over these events,” Obama said.

He called on Americans to “profess our profound gratitude tot eh men and women in blue” and to remember the victims, in particular.

“Today, our focus is on the victims and their families, Obama said. “They are heartbroken. The entire city of Dallas is grieving. Police across America, a tight-knit family, feels this loss to their core.”

New ISIS Video Threatens Attack On San Francisco and the LGBT Community

San Francisco

A new video surfaced yesterday that further shows ISIS’ acknowledgment of Omar Mateen as one of their own, and glorifying his heinous attacks against gays in Pulse nightclub on June 12th that killed 48 people and wounded over 50 others.

The video shows images of San Francisco landmarks, the Golden Gate Bridge, Financial District and Powell Street. After the showing the Bay area images comes the message:

“Arise, o Muslims and kill the unbelievers in their own homes.”

Police believe this new video aims to encourage pro-ISIS people to wage violence against the LGBT community.

Security analyst, and former FBI agent, Jeff Harp said, “…San Francisco stands for a lot of things. Freedom and pride … So it could be that they have decided to lash out at San Francisco for that.”

The Washington Times reported that the video footage ended with the scenes where US President Barack Obama and French President Francois Hollande paid tribute to the Orlando massacre victims.

The FBI says it is aware of the video but can’t or won’t confirm its validity.

Be aware and stay alert.

Wife of PULSE Massacre Terrorist Omar Manteen Found NOT GUILTY

Wife of Pulse Nightclub Killer Omar Mateen Knew of Attack, Drove Him To The Nightclub To “Scope It Out”

Wife of Pulse Nightlub Killer Omar Mateen Knew of Attack Drove Him To The Nightclub To Scope It Out

Omar Mateen’s wife, Noor Zahi Salman, has told the FBI that she was with him when he bought ammunition and a holster, several officials familiar with the case said. She told the FBI that she once drove him to the gay nightclub, Pulse, because he wanted to scope it out.

Mateen opened fire at Pulse early Sunday, leaving 49 dead and 53 injured. Twenty-seven victims remained hospitalized Tuesday. Six were in critical condition, according to hospital officials who said the death toll was still at risk of rising because one or two of those patients were “profoundly ill.”

Authorities are considering filing criminal charges against Noor for failing to tell them what she knew before the brutal attack, law enforcement officials say, but no decision has been made.

Public records show Salman was a student at the now-defunct Heald College-Concord. Facebook accounts for her relatives show they are Palestinian. But they don’t appear to have been strictly religious. Salman and her sisters did not wear the hijab, according to posts, in contrast to ISIS’s requirements for women. Mateen’s ex-wife has stated that Mateen was not very religious when they were married.

Salman allegedly tried to dissuade him from attacking the club, NBC News reports, citing officials. She has not yet been charged in relation to the attack, but NBC News and ABC News report authorities are considering charges.

Man Arrested With Assault Weapons and Possible Explosives, Says He Was Going to L.A. Gay Pride Parade

Man Arrested With Weapons and Possible Explosives, Says He Was Going to L.A. Gay Pride Parade

Coming just hours after the worst mass shooting in Unites States history in Orlando, Florida at the gay nightclub PULSE eaving over 50 dead. The LA Times is reporting that Santa Monica found possible explosives as well as assault rifles and ammunition Sunday in the car of a man who told them he was in town for the L.A. Pride festival in West Hollywood.

Early Sunday,  Santa Monica police received a call of a suspected prowler near Olympic Boulevard and 11th Street. Patrol officers responded and encountered an individual who told officers he was waiting for a friend. That led officers to inspect the car and find several weapons and a lot of ammunition as well as tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb.

The car had Indiana plates. The man made comments that he was in town for the Pride event in West Hollywood this weekend. The source said authorities did not know of any connection between the gay nightclub shooting in Orlando, Fla., early Sunday morning and the Santa Monica incident. The investigation has been taken over by the FBI.

A city official in West Hollywood also confirmed the arrest and stressed that officials were beefing up security at the gay pride event.
