Ohio Legislators Introduce Bills To Ban Harmful Gay Conversion Therapy In Ultra-Conservative State

Ex-Gay

Two bills, one introduced in the Ohio House and one in the Senate, would make it illegal for Ohio’s licensed medical professionals to practice what’s most often referred to as reparative, conversion or sexual-reorientation therapy on a minor.

Sen. Charleta B. Tavares, D-Columbus, reintroduced an Ohio Senate bill in February that would ban reparative or conversion therapy for minors after a similar measure failed in 2013. Last week, a companion House bill was introduced by Rep. Debbie Phillips, D-Albany, and Rep. Denise Driehaus, D-Cincinnati.

Tavares said conversion therapy “can damage (children) permanently. We’ve heard cases across the county where people have attempted and completed suicide.”

Last year Leeah Alcorn, a 17-year-old transgender girl from Cincinnati, walked in front of a truck after saying in a suicide note that her parents refused to accept her gender identity and sent her to conversion therapy. In April, President Barack Obama said he supports legislation popularly called “Leelah’s Law,” which would ban conversion therapy for minors nationwide.

In 2009 The American Psychological Association passed a resolution in 2009 condemning conversion therapy.

But despite this some  anti-gay “counselors” still don’t agree.

Christian counselor Elton Moose, director of New Pathways in Springfield, said Ohioans still need the ability to choose whether they want their child to be treated to address homosexuality.  Moose said he doesn’t consider what he does “conversion therapy” and that he simply “helps individuals to overcome the power of homosexuality,” often by “re-orienting” feelings toward the same sex and directing those he counsels on how to avoid acting on them.

While the Ohio bills have the best intentions. There is one major problem.

Moose, who isn’t licensed with an Ohio board, and many like him would be able to continue his therapy if either bill becomes law

EXPOSED! Indiana’s Religious Freedom “Fix” Is A SHAM, Only Protects LGBT’s in 11 Cities – #BoycottIndiana

BoycottIndiana

After almost a week of outrage from millions across the nation, Indiana’s Republican governor Mike Pence and his GOP controlled  legislature made believe that they created a “fix” to the the states newly signed RFRA  law that would have allowed almost any private party to claim religious freedom when it wanted to discriminate against gays. But the “fix”signed into law on April 2 does nothing but return protections to the 11 communities out of the 119 cities and 447 towns in the state that have local LGBT protections on the books leaving the rest to mercy of anti-gay bigots across the state since the state of Indiana does not protect LGBT people from discrimination by private businesses as a whole.

While it seems that some have been tricked by Pence into thinking that the fix will cover Indiana’s LGBT community.  It does not.  It only moves some LGBT Indianans back to where they originally were before. Second class citizens to a lesser degree albeit, but still second class citizens. And leave s the rest to the mercy of religious extremist.

But at lease some aren’t buying Pence’s sleight of hand.

Angie’s List, the Indiana-based business-review website that has been one of the most vocal critics of the law, reports the The Indianapolis Star

“Our position is that this ‘fix’ is insufficient,” Angie’s List CEO Bill Oesterle said in a statement Thursday morning, reported by the Star. “There was no repeal of RFRA and no end to discrimination of homosexuals in Indiana.” And as s a result of the “insufficient” changes, Angie’s List is standing by its decision to cancel a planned expansion of its headquarters in Indianapolis.

Also the American Civil Liberties Union in a statement Thursday morning said: With these amendments, the RFRA cannot be used as a defense in some kinds of discrimination cases. (In the cities that have local protections) That’s a major improvement. But it still poses a risk that it can be used to deny rights to others, including in education, access to health care, and other aspects of people’s lives. While this is one piece of the solution, it is incomplete.”

This past week in Indiana was a watershed moment in LGBT history  One that we should not waste.  We must continue fighting for our rights and not settle for these crumbs.  We must continue to fight and push for for full equality and civil rights protections.  We cannot waste the momentum that we have gained this week and the good will of out allies who are helping us.

We must continue to fight.  We must continue push.  And we must continue boycotting Indiana until every LGBT citizen of that state and in America is protected and equal in the eyes of the law. This is not just about Indiana.  This is about every state.  We must PROVE that we are a force to be reckoned with and that we can and will win.

Is Jo Becker Appearing At HRC Headquaters On 4/26? Only HRC Knows And They Ain’t Telling.

Gay Inc

Earlier this week a fellow LGBT activist printed Jo Becker’s upcoming book signing schedule for her re-write of LGBT history “Forcing the Fraud Spring”

Surprisingly considering the major controversy that her “so-called” history of the LGBT marriage movement and her over adoration of the “handsome and bespectacled” Chad Griffin that on Saturday April 26th Becker was scheduled for a book signing and talk at HRC Headquarters in Washington, D.C..

I have the cached screenshot of the now deleted event – calendar from Penguin, Becker’s publisher from 4/22 which before it was mysteriously removed.

So I called HRC headquarters and tried to get an answer the HRC spokesman Carl Garcia who wouldn’t deny or confirm that an event featuring Becker was happening.  Garcia kept saying that there is one event being held on Saturday and that it was a “private event” But would not elaborate.  Carl though  was very interested where I got my information.

And we weren’t the only ones getting the runaround.  Andrew Sullivan tried to get information and ran into the same stumbling block. And today HRC asked Justin Snow from MetroWeekly to correct a story about the Jo Becker event  but again wouldn’t say if they canceled it or not.

I’ll admit I  rarely agree with Andrew Sullivan (Although I must admit I do admire his chutzpah) but he sums this whole HRC party situation perfectly:

“Indeed. An author who is hosted at book signings and events by the “characters” she fawns over in her book is crossing an ethical line. Another one. And, yes, I think, given the refusal of HRC to confirm or deny that the Becker event is canceled tomorrow, we can assume that it’s a party for Becker, and a thank you for the public relations job she has done for the organization. It’s all win-win-win. Except for the truth.”

Just another in a long line of transparency and integrity FAILS by the Human Rights Campaign.

FRC’s Tony “Chicken Little” Perkins: It’s The ENDA The World!

Tony Perkins is a Homo

“Imagine how many conservatives would find themselves in the unemployment line if ENDA were the law of the land! The workplace would be open season on people with religious convictions and beliefs. Christians (and people who follow most major religions) would be silenced and forced underground, while homosexuals and transgenders turn the business world into their strongest political platform. A lot of squishy Republicans think they fix the problem with a religious liberty amendment to ENDA. But as we’ve seen with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (which the courts have shot full of holes), it will take a legislative firewall — not an amendment — to protect faithful Americans.” – Family Research Council hate group President Tony Perkins, via email.

Little Ms. Perkins continues her  histrionics over ENDA, a Bill that has been so badly botched by our side that it actually gives her and his religious extremist carte blanche to continue discriminating against the LGBT community.

FRC’s Tony Perkins: Even Though ENDA Will Still Allow Us To Discriminate, We’ll Lie Anyway

ENDAWith every lame-ass beltway LGBT  journalist and news blogger cheering the fact that ENDA will soon hit the Senate floor WITHOUT writing a damn word about the very dangerous Religious Exemption it has that would still allow and write into law LGBT discrimination by religious organizations, schools, hospitals and businesses. (Yes I am calling you out Chris Giedner, Andy Towle, Joe Jervis and the rest of you.) Family Research Council hate group leader Tony Perkins sent out an email blast to his bigoted GOP and Tea Party followers lying about the current bill because being allowed to legally discriminate against us just isn’t enough.

“Dear XXXXX,

ENDA would force religious business owners and workplaces such as Christian bookstores, religious publishing houses, pre-schools and religious television and radio stations to accept as normal any employee who has had a sex-change surgery, any employee who has changed or is ‘transitioning’ their public ‘gender identity’ (regardless of whether they have had surgery or hormone treatments), transvestites (people who dress as the opposite sex on an occasional basis for emotional or sexual gratification), and drag queens or drag kings (people who dress as the opposite sex for the purpose of entertaining others). Making matters worse, ‘perceived gender identity’ status does not require sex-change surgery, so ENDA would allow some biological males (who claim to be female) to enter and even appear nude before females in bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers. Please contact your Senators and urge them to oppose S. 815, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act as it imposes on employers freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of conscience and the free market economy.”

Tony Perkins.

It must be the coldest day in hell because I also urge Senators to oppose the current version of S. 815. Not for the same reasons of course as Ms. Perkins  but because of the very broad religious exemptions which render this version of ENDA almost totally useless and would allow people like Perkins and ilk to be allowed to wantonly discriminate against us.  This is the story that’s NOT being told.

The exact religious exemption reads that: This Act shall not apply to a corporation, association, educational institution or institution of learning, or society that is exempt from the religious discrimination provisions of title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000e et seq.) pursuant to section 702(a) or 703(e)(2) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 2000e-1(a), 2000e-2(e)(2)).

The major difference is that in the 1964 CRA any religious “corporation, association, educational institution or institution of learning, or society” are only allowed to pass over hiring someone if they are not the same faith.  It does not exclude an entire subset of people such as women or blacks.  But in ENDA the above religious exemption would allow them to freely continue to discriminate against the LGBT community and even worse it would be written into law.

This version of ENDA is a sham and in the end if by some chance it does indeed pass the Senate and the House and gets signed into law it could do us more harm than good.

Perhaps the saddest statement on it is that Tico Almeida of Freedom to Work who helped write it actually admitted that it was written so broadly just so it would pass.  NOT because its best for the LGBT community.

Whats the use of this version of ENDA if its essentially worthless and give those who abuse us the most a free pass to discriminate against us.

Kansas Dem Rep. Jan Pauls Opposes ‘Superior Rights’ For Gays – Kansas Dem Party Endorses Her

Kansas House “Democrat” Rep. Jan Pauls has served the 102ndHouse District, which includes central Hutchinson for more than two decades.  And in those 20 years again and again cast her lot against the LGBT community and even drafted the Kansas constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and civil unions in that state.

Pauls who’s always run unopposed at election time — until now. has suddenly begun claiming that she fears for he life because of bigoted voting record.

“I have friends who have told me they worry that I’ll be another Gabby Giffords, literally”  Pauls said in an interview with the Kansas City Star.

Pauls  is also notorious for keeping the law against sodomy on the books, despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that renders all such statues moot.  The house-cleaning measure to excise several outdated or inconsistent statutes from the books, she explains, “had too many other controversial items in it.” Pauls said about her vote against removing it from the books.

But Pauls isn’t bothered by how her anti-gay stance grinds against her own party’s platforms.

“The Democratic national platforms have never been that important in local or state politics. We’re a little different here.”

“Homosexuals don’t love,” her husband Ron said. “Homosexuals are all about the sex. How would you feel, he asks, if your daughter’s male gym teacher wanted to go into the locker room as the girls were undressing? What about a female gym teacher? “What if that female gym teacher was a homosexual? She’d want those girls.  People are afraid there won’t be freedom of speech anymore. Pretty soon you won’t be able to quote Bible verses from the pulpit if they’re against homosexuality.”

Pauls herself goes on to say  “I think most Kansans’ concerns are not that the homosexuals want equal rights but superior rights. That’s what makes this issue so difficult,” she says.

The Kansas Democratic Party said it is supporting Pauls, as it does all party nominees.

So much for the Democratic National Committee’s  Pro-LGBT Platform

Please feel free to contact Rep Jan Pauls at Phone: 620-663-8961 Email: janpauls@sbcglobal.net in Hutchinson or Phone: 785-296-7657 Email: janice.pauls@house.ks.gov in Topeka KS.

And also feel free to contact The Kansas Democratic Party Headquaters by phone at (785) 234-0425 or by filling out the following form.

Fake Medical Group The American College of Pediatricians Sends Anti-Gay Propaganda To Schools

The American College of Pediatricians which is a fraud and a shell front not motivated by science but the so-called Christian beliefs of its members.was created to push a phony scientific argument about the so-called dangers of homosexuality,  Last month, over 14,000 school district superintendents in the country were sent a letter by a group  inviting them to peruse and use information from a new site, Facts About Youth, which was created to supposedly help young adults. The web site also claims that it was created to combat some medical organizations who supposedly because of “political correctness” misrepresent science to affirm unhealthy lifestyles as normal behavior,

To put it bkuntly, Facts About Youth is a fraud and a sham . What Facts About Youth does is push almost every anti-gay talking point and distortion repeated by various religious right groups over the past 30 years under the guise of unbiased research.

It’s truly disgusting when these evil so-called Christians go to such lengths to try to destroy us.  Which is what they are trying to do.
