Well Chelsea Piers NYC had their chance to cancel the Ron DeSantis visit to speak at the extreme right wing Jewish Leadership Conference led by the The Kapos For Nazi’s Fund The Tikvah Fund and they refused to cancel the event.
So we are are TOTALLY CANCELLING The Chelsea Piers. Every venue. We gays love to ice skate you know, and eat out. Especially in Chelsea. Which is our Gayborhood. DURING RIDE MONTH, BUT the Chelsea Pier’s spit in our face and now they must pay the price.
Hundreds of LGBTQ rights activists at their supporters gathered outside New York City‘s Chelsea Piers on Sunday holding signs like ‘Transphobia is not kosher’ and ‘Say Gay’ to protest the venue’s hosting of a Jewish Leadership Conference featuring Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a guest speaker.
“DeSantis is clearly trying to raise money here in New York City for that speculative presidential bid,” New York State Senator Brad Hoylman told Bloomberg News at the protest. “He’s stirring up a hateful set of the Republican party, who want to see LGBTQ people erased from textbooks, schools, if not daily public life entirely.”
All LGBT New Yorkers, friends, and allies should participate against ALL businesses within the complex. ALL LGBT and LGBTQ friendly events should cancel any reservations at any Chelsea Piers venue
They obviously don’t care for us unless it’s for our money.
Chelsea Piers NYC has shown absolutely no respect and has basically spit in the face of the LGBQT community while they do everything in their power to REFUSE to CANCEL the Ron DeSantis visit on there on Sunday.
Chelsea Piers latest wheedle insult without actually doing anything: Chelsea Piers is going to eat the cost of event and funnel the small amount paid for the event to LGBT groups just prove they “love the queer community” without actually doing anything.
To this we say NO! CANCEL THE EVENT NOW!
And if don’t we are calling on ALL LGBTQ and Ally New Yorkers to a FULL BOYCOTT AGAINST ALL CHELSEA PIER BUSINESSES!And we hope other LGBTQ websites and groups will join us.
NOT 1 LGBTQ cent unless Chelsea Piers cancel DeSantis on Sunday.
PRIDE Month in the heart of Chelsea what a wonderful for time for the extremely homophonic Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to have the nerve to come to NYC and speak at a Jewish Leadership Conference at Chelsea Piers
There is just so much wrong about this on so many levels (Including the fact that not one of our orgs HRC, GLAAD, Task Force can’t even be bother to set up a protest in a major city.) And since they won’t. The job is ours.
BUT WE NEED TO GET ANGRY, WE NEED TO STEP UP. AND WE MUST LET OUT OUTRAGE BE SEEN!
We will have to do old skool. Protests, Boycotts it sis the ONLY way to show them that will; are done being stepped upon and businesses like the Chelsea Piers need to pick a side., And if they pick the wrong side. They will have to deal with any further ramifications. From US.
The conference will also feature a number of conservative heavy-hitters, including Mark Meadows, Mike Pompeo, Trump’s former secretary of state; and former New York Times editor Bari Weiss, a vocal critic of “cancel culture.”
PLEASE, IF YOU CAN: Join the protest against Ron DeSantis @Chelsea Piers – June 12 1:30PM-2:30PM . Ron DeSantis, Chelsea Piers, 22nd St. and 12th Ave
Bring: Protest signs, water, face masks, and of course FRUIT PIES!
Lets show that bastard DeSantis and the rest of the world that we have had enough and we will not allow them to put us back and lose all we have fought for.
And as for Chelsea Piers you will never see one #LGBTQ cent again unless you cancel.
The Republican-controlled Florida Senate quickly voted Wednesday to dissolve Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District. The Senate voted 23-16 to dissolve Reedy Creek, with Sen. Jeff Brandes the only Republican to vote against Sen. Jennifer Bradley’s bill. Critics of the governor say the bills were meant to punish Disney, Florida’s largest single-site employer, for opposing the so-called “don’t say gay” law signed by DeSantis last month.
Everyone needs to remember that Disney brought this onto themselves. They thought they could buy Republican politicians and give LBGT community “ally” lip service as they said nothing about the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” until an immense backlash after it was voted on and signed into law.
This story should be a very interesting year in Florida.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday signed the state’s controversial Parental Rights in Education bill – known to its critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill – into law. It will take effect July 1thus sending Florida back in time almost 40 years to Anita Bryan’s “Save The Children Campaign.”
The governor, standing behind a podium reading “Protect Children” and “Support Parents,” also claimed to have found at least six school districts in Florida had policies to “cut parents out of decisions regarding their child’s well being.
Under the now-law, Instruction related to sexual orientation or gender identity will be restricted in the state’s primary schools. Educators of all grade levels are prohibited from engaging in instruction on those topics in a manner that is not “age appropriate or developmentally appropriate” for children.
This law doesn’t solve any problem that currently or has existed in Florida. Instead, HB 1557was introduced and has weaponized by the Governor’s office to launch a bigoted smear campaign to attack and defame Lesbian and Gay Americans with baseless accusations of grooming and pedophilia. The bill’s intentionally vague language leaves teachers afraid to talk to their students and opens up school districts to costly and frivolous litigation from those seeking to exclude LGBT people from any grade.
And everyone please remember to thank the Walt Disney Company for throwing us all underthe bus for a few dollars.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (DeathSantis) has voiced his support for a bill that would prohibit the discussion of sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the state’s primary schools.
DeSantis said it’s entirely inappropriate” for teachers to be having conversations with students about gender identity, citing instances of them telling children, “Don’t worry, don’t pick your gender yet,” and also “hiding” classroom lessons from parents.
““Schools need to be teaching kids to read, to write. They need to teach them science, history. We need more civics and understanding of the U.S. Constitution, what makes our country unique, all those basic stuff. The larger issue with all of this is parents must have a seat at the table when it comes to what’s going on in their schools,” he added.
“Every parent, as one myself too, hopes that our leaders will ensure their children’s safety, protection and freedom, and today conservative politicians in Florida rejected those basic values,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during a press briefing Tuesday.
President Biden also weighed in shortly after the briefing, denouncing the legislation as “hateful.”
“I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are,” he tweeted.
I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve. https://t.co/OcAIMeVpHL
