Academy Award-winning actor and vocal Donald Trump critic in an interview with the Daily Beast is supporting Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg as the next US President.
Said DeNiro:
I like Buttigieg.
[…] He’s got all the credentials — Rhodes Scholar, Afghanistan veteran — even though he’s young, and if he could get a chance it could be something special, I think.
As a gay person, he’s someone who comes from a marginalized community, so people from other ethnic groups can identify with him, even if they’re not gay, because they know what it’s like.
I think he’s the best for what we need now. I have friends who really like him a lot, as I do.

Here’s a man who has come to terms with his father and that has to be good for his own sense of acceptance and that of his family. I am still a little shocked that De Niro was so willing to publicly open up his private life. But good for him and I applaud him for doing so.
