HOCKEY: NY Rangers Cancel Player’s Pride Night Jerseys at the Last Minute

Coming just two weeks after a Philadelphia Flyers player earned national headlines for refusing to wear the teams Pride Night jersey because of his “religion”. The New York Rangers did not wear Pride Night jerseys or use rainbow stick tape during warmups on Friday night’ PRIDE night game, despite promoting them in ticket sales materials leading up to the game.

ESPN reports: The Rangers promoted Pride Night to fans by saying players “will be showing their support by donning pride-themed warm-up jerseys and tape in solidarity with those who continue to advocate for inclusivity.” Instead, the team wore their “Liberty Head” jerseys in warmups. The Rangers’ 7th annual Pride Night was celebrated throughout the game in other ways. Fans were given a pride-themed fanny pack as a giveaway. The exterior and interior lights at Madison Square Garden were illuminated in rainbow colors. The Rangers also made a charitable donation to the Ali Forney Center on Pride Night, the largest agency dedicated to LGBTQ+ homeless youths in the country.

The Ranger’s statement on not wearing pride-themed warm-up jerseys last night: “Our organization respects the LGBTQ+ community and we are proud to bring attention to important local community organizations as part of another great Pride Night. I n keeping with our organization’s core values, we support everyone’s individual right to respectfully express their beliefs.”

Which in turn asks the question was there NOT A SINGLE PLAYER on the Rangers wanted to express his belief and wear a Pride jersey in support of the LGBT+ community? Or did the Rangers disallow that too? Duly noted.

Two weeks ago after the Philadelphia Flyers player refused to wear the teams Pride jersey the NHL released this statement: “”Hockey is for Everyone is the umbrella initiative under which the League encourages Clubs to celebrate the diversity that exists in their respective markets, and to work to achieve more welcoming and inclusive environments for all fans,” the league said in its statement to ESPN. “Clubs decide whom to celebrate, when and how — with League counsel and support. Players are free to decide which initiatives to support, and we continue to encourage their voices and perspectives on social and cultural issues.”

The tide is turning. Not in a good way. Who would have ever thought a New York sports team would punk out on us?

*RUMOR HAS IT: Word has it Russian players, Panarin and Shesterkin are the players who are pulling the Religion card. It is likely being promoted by Putin and his Republican Allies in the U.S to hit the Pride Community and continue to create divisions in society

After a pre-planned rally on Saturday in Freedom Plaza in support of President Donald Trump and his unfounded allegations of voter fraud in the presidential election.  Hundreds of the domestic terrorist militia group the Proud Boys and other Trump supporter’s rampaged through the streets of Washington, DC destroying property and hunting for “ANTIFA” resulting in al least 23 arrests by DC Metro Police.

Violence escalated after an dark with faceoffs with counter-protesters that took place near Black Lives Matter Plaza, Franklin Square, and other spots around downtown. Proud Boys marched through the streets shouting “Whose streets. Our streets!”, “Fuck Anifia”, and “We brought an army time?” while tearing “Black lives Matters” banners off DC Churches and harrowing all those they

Metro Police in riot gear successfully kept the two sides apart for the most part even as the groups splintered and roamed. Riot lines were held acros Capital Hill frustrating the roaming group who begged police to let them through and “finish” what they came there for.

“Both sides of the aisle hate you now. Congratulations,” a Proud Boy shouted at the officers.

D.C. police said that as of 9 p.m., 23 people were arrested Saturday, including 10 who were charged with misdemeanor assaults, six with assaulting police officers and four with rioting. Two officers were hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The FBI has designated the far-right “Proud Boys” as an “extremist group with ties to white nationalism”

NFL Caves In To GOP Demands

GOP Senators Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn sent a a stern letter to the nation’s six top professional sports leagues last week, warning them not to support or help publicize an important national health care initiative that has already affected and helped millions of  Americans. The  Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, more familiarly known to the Tea Party and the GOP as Obamacare.

The letters sent to the National Football League, Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, the Professional Golf Association and warns the organizations that the new law is the “most divisive and polarizing political issue of our day.” It further warns that “given the divisiveness and persistent unpopularity of the health care [law], it is difficult to understand why an organization like yours would risk damaging its inclusive and apolitical brand by lending its name to its promotion.”

As of this writing  the only organization listed above that has caved into McConnells and Cornyns demands is the National Football League who have said they will not  promote enrollment in health insurance plans under the new health care law,  a spokesman announced today.  All other professional sports organizations have remained silent.

McConnell who is up for re-election this year in Kentucky is using the repeal of “Obamacare” as a platform for re-election despite the fact that his state is one of the poorest in the country with the most uninsured per capita and whose constitutes would benefit greatly from health care coverage.
