The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tracked seasonal spikes in influenza, Sars-CoV-2 — the virus that causes Covid-19 — and respiratory syncytial virus or RSV, three viruses that cause respiratory illness and can be fatal to very young, elderly and immunocompromised groups.
As of Dec. 1, nearly 10% of weekly deaths were attributed to pneumonia, the flu or Covid-19, well above the epidemic threshold of 6.4% established by the National Center for Health Statistics.
Health care facilities are getting overloaded again as they grapple with a “tripledemic” of viral respiratory infections, people are being urged to consider donning masks and calling out sick.
PLEASE social distance, mask-up, wash your hands, and be careful.
Via USA Today: “COVID is over” might trend within social media circles, but weekly U.S. death tolls tell a different story. The pace of COVID-19 deaths has remained relatively steady since May, despite an uptick in July to about 400 a day, according to a USA TODAY analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. In July, more than 12,500 Americans died of COVID-19, according to the USA TODAY analysis. “We’re sitting on this horrible plateau,” said Dr. Daniel Griffin, an infectious disease specialist with Pro Health Care in New York and a clinical instructor of medicine at Columbia University. “It’s been this way for the past couple of months, and we’re getting used to it.”
Translation: “We’re done trying to fix the problem, we now are being “groomed” to live around it.” stage of how we handle all problems in this country.

What Jimmy didn’t know was the Ralph was sick. A sickness not visible like smallpox, but no less dangerous and contagious- a sickness of the mind. You see Ralph was a homosexual, a person who demands an intimate relationship with members of their own sex.”
At one point in time Boys Beware was required viewing for males in many school districts across the country.
When the Religious Right first came along in the early 1980’s, then known as the Moral Minority this message from the Adult Video Association was tacked onto the beginning or end of every adult movie in the United States warning them of the loss of their personal freedoms by the hands of these conservative intolerant religious extremists.
If more people rented porn and watched the opening and credits of porn back then and took action we might not still be in the same mess today 35+ years later.
The show aired a mock-PSA from the Democratic National Committee, showing Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein and various congressional figures acknowledging the nation’s cravings for a new party direction. Still, that isn’t stopping the old guard from making promises about how their leadership can totally still win elections, learn from their mistakes, and focus on the important things, like “converting Confederate monuments into statues of prominent lesbian poets.”
Even Kate McKinnon‘s Hillary Clinton appears in the promo, asking America for another chance at the presidency.
There’s a new celebrity PSA out tonight featuring some big-name actors asking members of the electoral college to do the right thing and step in to vote their conscience (a.k.a. not Donald Trump)
In the video for Unite For America, they explain that the electoral college was designed to allow people to step in and prevent a “demagogue” or someone uniquely unqualified to be president from doing so. They make it clear they’re not advocating a vote for Clinton, just “any eligible person” they trust to be competent as president.
The video stars Martin Sheen, Debra Messing, James Cromwell, BD Wong, Noah Wyle, Freda Payne, Bob Odenkirk, J. Smith Cameron, Michael Urie, Moby, Mike Farrell, Loretta Swit, Richard Schiff, Christine Lahti, Kerry Russel, Steven Pasquale, Emily Tyra, Talia Balsam and many more.
The Electors Trust provides free and strictly confidential legal support to any Elector who wishes to vote their conscience.
John Cena, who muses on the meaning of patriotism, and the things should unite rather than divide us, in this remarkable new iteration of R/GA’s “Love Has No Labels” campaign for the Ad Council.
As he walks through a typical small American town, talking directly to the camera, the pro wrestler—who’s becoming a familiar face in the ad world these days—draws a line in the sand early on. Patriotism isn’t just pride in one’s country, he says. It’s love for it. And loving one’s country means embracing who and what the country really is—not what you might picture it to be.
Along the way, this small town turns out to be remarkably diverse—the essence of America itself—as we see citizens who are Latino, LGBT, Muslim, senior citizen, African American, disabled, and so on, all just as American as anyone else. The underlying message: To be a true patriot is to accept all Americans regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or ability.
In short, patriotism is love, Cena says, and love has no labels.
