BREAKING NEWS: Russian Female Punk Band Pussy Riot To Be Released From Prison

News sources are stating that the Russian female punk band Pussy Riot will soon  be released.

Pussy Riot were sentenced to two years in prison for “hooliganism” after being arrested back in  March after a performance of a “punk prayer” held at Christ the Savior Cathedral, one of Moscow’s main religious establishments in protest to Russian ruler Vladimir Putin.

Here’s official word from the Associated Press:

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called for three members of the punk band Pussy Riot to be freed, saying further prison time would be “unproductive.”

Medvedev’s comments on Wednesday could signal the band members’ imminent release as their case comes up for appeal on Oct. 1.
The women had already spent more than five months in jail when they were convicted in August of “hooliganism driven by religious hatred” and sentenced to two years in prison.

The bandmembers have had global support in response to their imprisonment, from LGBT activists and advocates including Madonna, who during an August concert in St. Petersburg when she  showed her support of the band. Madonna’s currently being sued for her vocal support of the band during the aforementioned concert for 10 million dollars.

We wish the bandmembers luck!!!

Gay Malawi Couple Found Guilty of ‘Gross Indecency and Unnatural Acts’. May Face 14 Years in Prison At Hard Labor

Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga, who have been jailed in Malawi since late December after they had a public engagement ceremony, were found guilty of “gross indecency” and “unnatural acts”. Since that time, the couple has been imprisoned except for brief, occasional visits to a courtroom during which they were ridiculed and mocked by homophobic mobs.

“Blantyre chief resident magistrate Nyakwawa Usiwa issued the ruling yesterday. The couple are facing up to 14 years in prison with hard labour after becoming the first gay couple in Malawi to publicly commit themselves to each other…Angry residents and relatives from Machinjiri township, on the outskirts of Blantyre, say they will not allow them to return home if they are set free. A retired economist, Thindwa, added: “We are giving them moral support by bringing them food, money and clothes to prison.” The rule comes as a blow to gay rights movements across the continent, sparking fears that the ruling could be viewed as a test case and set an unwelcome precedent. Peter Tatchell, the veteran British gay rights campaigner, told the Guardian last week he received a defiant message from Chimbalanga that said: ‘I love Steven so much. If people or the world cannot give me the chance and freedom to continue living with him as my lover, then I am better off to die here in prison. Freedom without him is useless and meaningless.’ Monjeza – who is described as thin and weak with jaundiced eyes – told him: ‘We have come a long way and even if our relatives are not happy, I will never stop loving Tiwonge.'”

Truly sad.

Gay sex remains illegal in 37 countries in Africa and is widely vilified. A recent poll by the Pew Research Centre found that 98% of people in Cameroon, Kenya and Zambia disapprove of homosexuality. Since legal advances in South Africa, a new wave of activists have begun to take a stand and campaign for gay rights in several countries including Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, Zimbabwe and other countries

Disturbing Statements From the Indictment Of Daniel Aleman/Daniel Rodriguez In The Jack Price Hate Crime Indictments

We all know that Jack Price’s attackers Daniel Aleman and Daniel Rodriguez (pictured above) have been indicted on hate crimes charges. But what many news outlets and blogs did not discuss was that the statements that Aleman and Rodriguez gave to the police that night were also released and tell a very disturbing story.

From GayCityNews:

In his statements, both of which he wrote on October 10, Aleman describes first getting into a fight with a man other than Price. Aleman wrote that the man was “looking at me crazy.” When Aleman asked the man if he was “a fagot,” the two came to blows.

In the first statement, Aleman wrote that after the first fight he returned to his apartment and slept for a while.

“I came back down after 4:30 and seen somebody I recognized start to fight this guy in the store,” Aleman wrote. “So me being a stupid ass took a couple of cheap shots on the white guy also.”

In his second statement, which he wrote three hours after the first, Aleman wrote that after the first fight, he “went upstairs and changed.” Next, he wrote, he met Rodriguez, whom he did not name in either statement, but rather identified as someone he had “hung with him a couple of times prior to this date.”

The two men went to a bar, Rodriguez left, and then Aleman saw Rodriguez and “the white guy” fighting when he went to a nearby store for a cigarette. Aleman wrote that he did not know the cause of the fight.

“But it came at me and out of the door of the store,” he wrote. “I then hit the guy a few times and afterwards I left back to the bar with the other guy.”

Aleman wrote that he “felt stupid for what had happened” and “felt like total trash for that… I am not proud of any of this and hope that man is alright.”

Rodriguez told police that he knew Price, and that at the store he saw the victim “about to write graffiti on the wall, which he believes is going to be an offer for nasty sex,” according to the statement, written by a police detective who largely paraphrased the defendant. Rodriguez then insulted Price, who left the store.

“They follow him across the street and he yells at Jack, ‘You are the guy who writes that shit on the walls’ and the apprehended other punches Jack and knocking him to the ground,” according to the police write-up of Rodriguez’s statement. “He punches, kicks and slaps him and so does the apprehended other. During the attack, he calls him a faggot.”

Rodriguez told police that after the assault, he said to Aleman, “Let’s go take his shit.” They then rifled Price’s pockets. The police write-up of Rodriguez’s statement concluded saying, “He was angry because Jack is disgusting.”

I am just totally speechless.  The anger, the hate, the violence.  Not only should they be proscecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  But in my eyes but so should their families for raising such animals.

Attackers Of Jack Price BOTH Charged With Hate Crimes

Both of the men who brutally gay bashed Jack Price in Queens last October have been indicted on hate crimes charges.

The indictment filed Thursday morning charges defendants Daniel Aleman, 26, and Daniel Rodriguez, 21, both of College Point in Queens, New York, of 14-counts of assault and robbery as a hate crime, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. If convicted, both men face up to 25 years in prison. Police say the two men shouted “anti-gay remarks” while viciously beating victim Jack Price, 49, as he left a 24-hour deli on College Point Boulevard in Queens in October 2009. After the assault, the two men stole Price’s wallet and other personal property from his pockets. Price was treated at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens for a broken jaw, several broken ribs, two collapsed lungs and a lacerated spleen. Aleman and Rodriguez are being held without bail. Their arraignment is scheduled for January 25.

As horrible as I know it sounds I hope both those homophobe assholes get the Maximun 25 years in prison and are beaten and raped daily.
