Florida Judge Rules Men Busted In Porn Bookstore Raid Were Wrongfully Arrested

A judge in Broward County, Florida has ruled that the Hollywood Police Department ruined the lives of ten gay men for no reason at all when they raided the Pleasure Emporium in July of 2018 and release the names and photos of the men to news media outlets. The judge ruled that the men were, in fact, in a “private space,” and the men should not have been charged for exposing their genitals “in public.”

Broward County Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren found that the Pleasure Emporium is not a public space under [Florida Statute] 800.03,” Lerner-Wren wrote. “The patrons who access the private viewing theaters where consensual activity occurs in the presence of other consenting adults objectively and subjectively possess a reasonable expectation of privacy.”

In August, Hollywood PD adamantly defended its decision to raid a gay-cruising destination. HPD spokesperson Miranda Grossman — who, is a former reporter for the progressive news outlet Fusion — stated that the Pleasure Emporium was “not private, but open to the public.”

She then added, “As a reporter, I am sure you can understand releasing information related to criminal activity is in the public’s best interest.”

It turns out the men were not actually committing a crime, according to Lerner-Wren. Via email, Grossman said HPD still believes it was in the right.

After the arrest, many media outlets published mug shots of the men. WPLG went so far as to provide a bulleted list of every man’s name and hometown.

One man who was arrested according to his lawyer was suicidal after the arrest and had fled Cuba because he thought America would be more accepting of of gay men. Instead he was outed and fired from his job due to the actions of Miranda Grossman  and the Hollywood Police Department.

Rhonda Gelfman, an attorney lawyer for many of the accused men, says she plans to help the few who pleaded guilty to the charges before the judge ruled the raid was wrong.

“I’m happy with the judge’s well-reasoned opinion and that justice was served,” she said through a spokesperson. “I plan to now spend time assisting the others who had pleaded guilty to this case when they should not have.”

Hopefully that will include lawsuits against the media outlets who published the men’s names and photos, the Hollywood Police department and Miranda Grossman.

Family Research Council Adds Republican Platform Plank To Prosecute Porn Companies

Well now the FRC has just gone too far!

As Republicans flocked south for their convention in a city notorious for an abundance of “gentlemen’s clubs,” the GOP was set to adopt language in its official platform calling for strict enforcement of federal obscenity laws, including those concerning illegal distribution of pornography on the Internet, motel and cable TV and even retail stores. The platform revises language from the party’s 2008 document, which opposed child pornography and exploitation, to make an even stronger statement on all pornography: “Current laws on all forms of pornography and obscenity need to be vigorously enforced.” Patrick A. Trueman, president of the anti-obscenity advocacy group Morality in Media, said it was a welcome step forward and credited the work of Family Research Council President Tony Perkins for leading the push. Mr. Perkins, a convention delegate from Louisiana and head of one of the most prominent faith-based organizations in the country, introduced the language. – The Family Research Council vows to prosecute “all forms of pornography by using the GOP

For the GOP, a party that claims to want government out of citizens’ lives, they sure spend a lot of time obsessing over, and trying to control, what the citizens do in the privacy of their own homes.

When the Religious Right first came along in the early 1980’s, then known as the Moral Minority this message from the Adult Video Association was tacked onto the beginning or end of every adult movie in the Unites States

Looks like its time to dust this video off and start playing it again.

Ironically which states purchase the most porn?

It’s the RED STATES. It’s true. Look it up.

If Elected Rick Santorum Will “Rid Our Culture From The Scourge Of Pornography”

Little Adolf Rick Santorum website declares that porn causes brain damage said yesterday that if elected he will appoint an Attorney General who will vigorously enforce existing obscenity laws.

The former Pennsylvania senator argues that “current federal ‘obscenity’ laws prohibit distribution of hardcore [obscene] pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier.” “The Obama administration has turned a blind eye to those who wish to preserve our culture from the scourge of pornography and has refused to enforce obscenity laws,” the statement read in part. “While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum administration.”

Well Santorum just lost “Porno” Pete LaBarbera’s vote

It’s National Anti-Pornography Week – SEE SMUT HERE!

It’s that time of year again when the majorly repressed folk at Morality In Media have thier annual White Ribbon Against Pornography week and they would like you to start demanding that the police enforce all those laws about folks legally purchasing the legally-made porn featuring legally consenting adults.

“The reason we have continued to promote the campaign is because people all across the country find it to be a convenient way for them to express their opposition to pornography and their support for a standard of decency in the community,” explains Bob Peters, head of Morality in Media. Bob PetersEven though the Supreme Court has partially corrected the problem, one of the reasons for the proliferation of pornography is court decisions. “Another main reason why we have so much pornography in our country is because people don’t complain,” Peters suggests. “They don’t make complaints to the police; they don’t make complaints to their local or state prosecutor; they don’t make complaints to the U.S. attorneys and they don’t make complaints to members of Congress, to mayors, to city legislators and state legislators.”

Something somewhere tells me that Futurama did a segment on this, complete with a scare film from the Space Pope.

So what’s its going to be folks?  Gird your loins with white ribbons or enjoy some smut?

Hmmmmm. I thought so.

BUSTED! – Florida State Republican Senator Bill Bennett Views Porn On Senate Floor As Abortion Bill Is Debated

Sunshine State News captured exclusive video of Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton, looking at pornographic material on his state-issued computer on the Florida Senate floor during a debate of a controversial abortion bill. “I’m against this bill,” said the voice, “because it disrespects too many women in the state of Florida.” Bennett defended his actions, telling Sunshine State News it was an email sent to him by a woman “who happens to be a former court administrator.”

Reporters asked to see the supposed email with a government-related subject line that Bennett claimed was the source of the photo, but he refused.
